Don't be Lucas, Mensah, Nagbe, Artur, or Zardes, please lord. Cadden will be back Thursday. Either it took 5-10 days to show up in the tests, or this person got it from outside the club. Or did that player that had an inconclusive test come back positive.
One week. One ********ing week. Stay in a goddamned bubble. Of the nine players who have tested positive this playoffs, six players have returned and another is expected to return tomorrow.Training is not pausing like previous weeks and access to the locker room and gym is still not allowed.— Jacob Myers (@_jcmyers) December 9, 2020
There just aren't that many new players left we can lose without it biting us in the ass. And it's only Wednesday.
The east side of the stadium should have been opened up also ,the same as the east side! As a season ticket holder since 1996 I am very unhappy and disappointed not to be at the game! My wife and I will be watching from home! At least I was at the home opening game of the season!
Myers said of the 9 who had tested positive (7 before Nashville game, 1 after Nashville game, 1 after NE game), 6 had been cleared to return to training, and another was projected to return tomorrow. So we are basically down 2 players. This week's positive, plus 1. Now, unless the have fudged the count at some point, Wormgoor was among the original 7 positives "not medically cleared" to play for Nashville. No way he is going to be cleared to train (right?). Or could he be? He had surgery July 17th and they said 4-6 months. We are 4.75 months in. Anyway, assuming Myers is correct in his counts, I am going to assume Vito is one of our 2 still not medically cleared. That would mean our only guy out, at present, is our 9th positive who tested positive this week. So, going with my assumptions, we'd have: Previous positive: not cleared to train = 1. Wormgoor. Previous positives cleared to return to train as of tomorrow = 7. Room, Francis, Etienne, Berhalter, Kempin, Berry, Cadden. With Cadden being the most recent positive of that group. Which leaves our candidates for #9 at 22. Zelarayan, Zardes, Nagbe, Mensah, Santos, Artur, J. Williams, Afful, Valenzuela, Diaz; Tarbell, Jimenez, Keita, Alashe, Morris, Boateng, Nemeth; Mokhtar, Adi, Hamilton, Lampson, Lillard. Almost a 50% chance of a starter (10/22).
I wasn't necessarily responding to you, directly. There was just a thread of anti-covid precaution stuff running through a number of posts by various folk, often amidst very perceptive and reasonable stuff, but to my eyes there nonetheless. And I just wanted to push back on that a bit. Perhaps my antennae are a bit too sensitive on that score. Regardless, my language was too harsh. I apologize for that. Mea culpa.
Talking to Lucas Zelarayan and Gyasi Zardes today, then Darlington Nagbe and Jonathan Mensah tomorrow #Crew96— Jacob Myers (@_jcmyers) December 9, 2020 This would imply none of these guys are the new positive COVID result.
Perceptive and reasonable = people who agree with you Stupid, clueless dumbasses = people who disagree with you National unity = those who dont agree shutting up and getting in line And people wonder why I fear so much about the future
If this is accurate . . . Thank God! I probably won't stop worrying until kickoff. And then the real stress begins.
I'm going to worry right until kickoff. They were all on field celebrating, hugging, touching the cup after last game. Family was touching the cup. I watching in horror as they did so. If that person was in the group celebrating, there will be more positives. Once this virus gets in your inner circle, it spreads. Witnessed it 1st hand. While I'm not one who fears the virus as I think they finally have a handle on treatment and healthy people are fairing well, it's undeniable how contagious it is. I personally suspect this latest spread is a result of so many asymptomatic people moving around not even knowing they have it and therefore unknowingly spreading it. Nearly everyone with few exception of those in my extended family that have had it were asymptomatic. Thankfully only a few had some complications.
Actually Bill, I was referring to your post specifically (among others). And there was some good stuff in there. But also some crap in my view. But I'd note that I can distinguish between the person and the argument. Something your latest lame post fails to do. I'd also note I am just shocked you continue to act like a jerk. Shocked!
I'm sitting here waiting for the start of Gladbach-Madrid. Two chances for glory in one week. Could be a great Christmas present.
Yep. Worst case scenario would now be Santos, Artur, or Josh Williams. Of course, worst case could always get worse.
Didn't Myers also say that they were not changing their practice style for this week even with the positive test? I thought I read that somewhere. Which if so, is interesting and may tip their hand that they don't think whoever tested positive has spread it to everyone. Or they are in "it's MLS Cup week and we are going full steam ahead to make sure we are ready practice/gameplan wise"
For anyone with ESPN+, Berhalter has a nice minute long clip about being excited for the Crew and the City of Columbus for hosting MLS Cup this weekend. Sounded very sincere. It was nice to hear.

This year, everyone HAD to change the rules mid-year. MLS, NBA, MLB, College Hoops. Generally speaking, it is a good practice. Sometimes, you have to recognize when things change dramatically.
If it's anyone who played last weekend, they'd have been contagious at that point, meaning further positive tests are - if not likely - at least possible. Not reaching for the scotch quite yet, but this ********ing year, man...
I'd like to remind everyone that this is a soccer message board. Please focus on our run at MLS Cup and Crew-related subjects. There is a political forum for those wanting side-discussions of a political bent. The restraint that has been exercised is appreciated.
I’ve had Covid and tested positive for antibodies. I’m not a danger to anybody. Why can’t I attend the match? The health department is working off 6 month old science. The number of Covid immune people out there is increasing by the day. There is no evidence that I can pass Covid to anyone else. Time for the health department to catch up with the times. Not the Crew’s problem but society needs to temper the assumptions. The 8 players who tested positive can French kiss Don Garber and no one is in any danger.
