"There’s no renderings to speak of, no plans of shovels in the ground. But according to New England Revolution ownership, there is clear intent for a new home for the club “in the Boston area.” “Eventually we’d like to invest the team up in the Boston area in a new stadium,” "While there’s no timetable to speak of for the Revolution’s move out of Gillette into their own stadium..." Talk is cheap. Maybe even cheaper than a handjob from a traffficked sex slave in a Florida strip mall massage parlor.
From that article: While there’s no timetable to speak of for the Revolution’s move out of Gillette into their own stadium, Jonathan Kraft said the building of the Revs $35 million training center behind Gillette Stadium was an important first step to show the Krafts commitment to the MLS originals. “We want to build the stadium,” Jonathan Kraft told the Boston Globe. “We don’t like failing and we clearly failed at doing that. The training center made a statement.” Is the GM/SVP of the Revs still that same gentleman that was once a STH that stood in "The Fort" at the razor and worked his way up the Revs FO ladder? I would like to think that if he is at the tip of the spear in the Revs FO and now there is renewed preaching of wanting to build a new Boston area home it would seem a significant point of sale to him. Does this decades long mentioned SSS really have legs now?

During the game on Sunday, the ESPN pronounciators kept referring to it as "the last game in MAPFRE history" (although after the Crew won it became the penultimate game but we can't expect Twellman to know any big words. The thing is, nobody can really say for sure. Even the owners don't know. Doc Edwards has said he "thinks" that "at most" they'll play "2 or 3" games there before moving over to New Crew (or Crew 2, if you prefer). It would indeed be very fitting to close the place with a Cup final (win), an end which befits the old girls status. Maybe it will happen. As most people know that entire area is being converted to the Crew's training facility. Construction is ongoing with a main building on the west side. Eventually the plan calls for a turf field inside the stadium, an inflatable dome and removal of the upper deck. So however things turn out game wise, this will be pretty much the last you'll see od her as she was when all of that history took place. Progress? Yes. Bittersweet? Absolutely.
