And as the sun sinks slowly in the west, we bid a fond farewell to SKC and their charming coach Peter Vagina.
Game over, that save the Minnesota keeper had early on was huge and KC is laying on the mat knocked out.
If it was a fight, they'd stop it. I am starting to get a case of "be careful what you wish for", but screw it, I'd rather be at home.
I hope everyone who laughed at Vermes for insisting that Minnesota was the favorite is feeling appropriately foolish.
I know. Things conspired to land us at home in 2015 as well. But in this uncertain time, and not knowing what's going on with COVID, being able to not have to travel is a better option than having to travel. That's an advantage for no other reason than that one.
I've been playing it safe going nowhere but work since March, even turned down free suite ticket to Sunday. Texted my applebee's waitress I'll break quarantine if she can get me in to mls cup, even if I have to stand on the councourse.
Because it was 3-0, it's easy to forget that KC had three great chances in the first ten minutes, and were pretty unlucky to not get at least one goal. Would have changed everything. But that's MLS for ya.
Was a fun game to watch as a neutral. Was rooting for Fin to get a goal late and he had it on his foot.
While I agree that SKC had 3 good looks, Minnesota kind of did too. At least 2. One a top of the box blast from Lod and the other from the right side. The game was open, which was fun to watch. The SKC chances were probably higher on the expected goals metric, but MN weren't under siege. I really enjoyed watching Verpes getting more and more sulky. I also enjoyed the quick interplay of the MN attacking players. So much movement. It overwhelmed the SKC defense who seemed to be chasing shadows once the game settled in after the frantic back and forth of the first 20 minutes.
If we had to lose to someone, I'd pick the Loons by a wide margin over NE and an even wider margin over Seattle.
The sentient pudding that is Taylor Twellman mentioned several times, through clenched teeth, that the Crew would be moving to a new stadium next year. I found this in an MLS article regarding a stadium for New England: “Eventually we’d like to invest the team up in the Boston area in a new stadium,” Robert Kraft told the Boston Globe in a piece published Friday. Eventually? - as in 26 years in and they haven't broken ground? We are about to move on to our 2nd one and I could not be more proud of the Dee and Dr. Pete for their stewardship of our beloved club.
