I hope that this is the year Caleb breaks his 5 year drought without a playoff win. I hope he even goes one step further and wins his first road game this season. This weekend has given me hope. Dare to believe.
Originally i also wanted GBS but thought Porter was a good hire. I think we got the right guy wish we could get GBS as a assistant but it me sure someone will offer him a head coaching job
Caleb Porter has not won an MLS Cup Playoff match outside of Crew Stadium since 2015. But he did make us sweat out the final minutes versus a vastly inferior Red Bulls roster and an interim manager today. Baby steps. Keep the faith, comrades.
I believe we are winning the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. Everything is falling into place. If so, perhaps Caleb deserves to remain for 2021.
I was on a group text this morning with some members of the East Coast Elite and other Lifelong Columbus Crew fans. I said even with the liability of Harrison Afful, I would put our roster, or at least our 11 up against any of the the remaining teams. I think only Seattle might have a stronger match day 11, but that may just be drilled into my head from their success over the past few years. I do think our biggest liability is still on the touchline, as I think that Arena, Pareja, Schmetzer, and even Heath are better managers than Porter. However, Porter has managed this season and playoff well enough so far that we don't need to leave home until MLS Cup, and maybe not even then. These things give us an advantage. Pieces are falling in place. Put aside a bottle of the good stuff for December 12. Be sure to toast your boy hang, the truest of the true believers, when you open it.
At long last, the rain has stopped and the clouds parted. The leader of the sunshine and rainbows is back
Caleb Porter is on the verge of making history. He can be the first manager in MLS history to win MLS Cup without winning a single road match all season. Dude is Veljko Paunovic on steroids.
