I felt that was setting in at the end of last season. We were scraping one goal wins and lucky to get a couple of drawers. The Fab three had faded.

We also love over complicating some moves - like an unnecessary back heel through 5 people.

When it works we drool - but it works 1 out of 15 times.

I doubt it's that often. The flicks and tricks are a result of frustration with a parked bus defence. understandable, I have no problem with it, but the "trying to walk it in" via one extra unnecessary pass gets tedious fast.

    All is revealed!

Jurgen Klopp explains why Caoimhin Kelleher started for Liverpool ahead of Adrian
    https://punditarena.com/football/robredmond/caoimhin-kelleher-klopp/

“But tonight, in this game, we needed the football playing ability, the natural football playing ability of Caoimhín.

“And because he’s a really good shot-stopper as-well. I’m really happy how Caoimhín Kelleher dealt with it. How calm he was and how good he was.”

Just so you know, Liverpool are my favorite EPL team and I try to watch all their matches! I've been a Klopp fan since he was at Dortmund.

Well , that turned out to be not so bad! Great comeback by Williams. Jones wasn’t so shabby either— for the goal most players would have given up (in fact most had) yet he gambled and got rewarded. More of that, please. Kelleher’s decision-making was quite good and, although his kicking needs working in, he came off his line quite quickly and gave the opponents little to feed off. As for shot-stopping, wow!

    Onwards and upwards.

Maybe not as capable as Alisson (a high bar) but he seemed equally capable with both feet.

Indeed. And that two footed-ness seems something the younger players have been working on. Williams’s assist for the goal came via his left boot and, in most likelihood, wrong-footed the defence while Jones’s first shot on target was a left-footed strike. I have seen Alexander Arnold use his left foot a few times.

Yeah, the U-11s have an important league game that week, so I think you’ll find they’ll be pulling in a few from the U-8s and 9s.

I have absolutely no way of proving this and given the amount of analysis and stats in the game these days, this might be complete bollocks.

It was important we won or did not lose last night. Moreso than say losing at Brighton. There’re 38 games in the Brighton season, 6 in then Ajax one.

I wonder how influenced Klopp was by the Atletico game at Anfield last season when Adrian tried to play football with his feet and panic cleared/punted the ball to an Atletico player? And then they scored, totally turning the momentum on its head. A game we should have won, but lost due to Adrian’s not really knowing where his feet are.

Kelleher is waaaaaay more confident with the ball at his feet.

All of that. :) I watched the short highlight show last night with Carra. On the goal, it looked to me that the keeper was reaching for it, then decided to let it go for a goal kick not realizing Williams was so tight in behind. 2 woodwork shots and a couple that goal written on them. We weren’t so bad.

Carra was funny last night. Somewhere he found s clip of his first, first team game For the Reds. With him scoring with a good header. He said when people ask him about not scoring more he said, I scored a goal what’s the point in scoring again.

I think you’re right. Klopp even said so after the match:

Klopp: "I really think Adrian has done a fantastic job for us, he kept a lot of clean sheets, played everywhere. But now we needed the natural football playing ability of Caoimhin Kelleher. He is a good shot stopper as well. Really happy with how calm he was and how good he was."

Yeah, that’s what got me thinking that.

I think Klopp still cringes when he thinks of Adrian’s punt that night.

Kelleher has been trained since he was a young kid to play the Liverpool way. He’s aggressive coming off of his line and good with his feet.

Adrian played a really important role in our title last year, but he’s likely played his last game for Liverpool. Not just the Athletico game, there was Villa game as well. The first time we played Ajax, Gomez was furious with him in the first minute. Choosing Kelleher certainly got a positive reaction from the fans, but I think it would have got a positive reaction from the players as well. Our defenders did not hesitate at all to play it back to Kelleher, where as I think they were told to stop playing it to Adrian.

Man Utd's loss today is good news for us.... means we will not have to face them or Bayern or City (the three other strongest teams) in the next round. I like to get a good draw for the last 16. After that I don;t mind.

agh - my mistake in typing too fast - well pointed out, but why the "reps" guys -
surely you don;t think that I think that

Bayern, City and Man Utd are the other three strongest teams in the CL???
    ffs

Obviously I made a typing too fast error and said they but meant the team they got beat by today (PSG)
Bayern, City and PSG are the others of the 4 strongest teams IMO. And I meant we don;t have to play any of them in the next round now (most likely - PSG could still finish behind one of Leipzig or Manure if lots of goals get scored, maybe)

    Jeez guys.......
