It’s funny because as erratic as he is in attack, I was feeling like Mendy might actually cause some disruption to help us score more than say Asensio or Rodrygo. He was too sloppy though for sure. I don’t have anything negative to say about Nacho, Kroos or Modric in this one. We badly miss Fede and Dani. The impact of Ramos being out is a no brainer and Hazard is just a shambles.
I expect some serious consequences for this terrible run. I wouldn't be surprised if Zidane just quit by the end of the night. It really has been that bad. Florentino has to find some answers or we're looking worse than Barca, and that's a really low bar.
This is due to personnel decisions. Not just from today, but what’s been done in the past few years. Do you think it was Perez or Zidane who pushed out Achraf, Llorente, Reguilon, and James? Perez or Zidane who decided to make Lucas Vazquez an integral part of the team? The final say, of course, is Perez’s, but it’s pretty clear Zidane was the driving force behind those decisions. Why would Perez want to get rid of any of those guys or play Vazquez? I give Zidane credit for backing Fede, and I don’t hold the Hazard and Jovic acquisitions against him, but his personnel decisions are the main reason we’re in this mess. Sometimes I wonder if Perez keeps him around and gives him latitude over transfers only because he thinks he’ll help him land Mbappe one of these years.
Can we PLEASE at least agree that Varane needs to be benched for good. Just play someone, anyone else. Hell, I will take Valverde as a defender over Varane right now.
You want Zidane to quit again so he can absolve himself of any responsibility Blame it on Florentino. You literally support Zidane FC. You are more concerned with how Zidane looks than how the club actually performs. There's no manager out there that could do better? We just played Shaktar who lost 6-0 and 4-0 to Mochengladbach. The Shaktar guy just tactically titty ********ed the shit out of Zidane.
Zidane is good for the club because of his stature as a legend, his ability to deflect pressure and the press with ease, and his man management with our key players. Other managers have shown that it isn’t as easy as one would think to get the stars onboard. But there is a lot he can do better, and he needs to answer for that. I’m not sure what I want to happen at this point, it’s clear we aren’t playing well at all, but I’m also not convinced our squad makeup, especially in attack, is top quality. Also, do we even have the money to add star players right now? Tough times, really unsure about what comes next.
Whoever is pulling the absences card. Don't. We lost to Shaktar at home and they had like 8 bench players on. Don't do that to yourself and to us who have to read this kind of bullshit.
Not one Shaktar player would get into our 24 man Squad. Not one Cadiz player would get into our 24 man Squad Not one Alaves player would get into our 24 man Squad. ...."but yeah man this squad isn't good enough and it's Florentino's fault for not buying MBappe. Poor Zidane man. He needs a better squad, it's not fair. No one can improve this. No one"
One of my biggest issues with Zizou right now is that he's not taking this "opportunity" (if you can call it that) of really getting the most development out of our young guys....honestly the way things are going with Hazard/Asensio.... I would give every minute I could to Vini/Rodrygo/Odegaard to help them get to the next level as quickly as possible. It's not like there's anything to loose offensively.... Play the young guys, if we can get one or two of these guys to that world class level... it would be a big achievement... Stop wasting minutes on Asensio/Isco/Mariano and sometimes LV (when he plays right wing).
Zidane prefers to recover Isco over Jovic. That right there tells you all you need to know about his priorities and poor player management skills.
Probably not the time for this comment, but imagine Real and Inter make it out of this group. With a win today, Inter would have the tiebreaker against Gladbach. If we win and they win in the last round, that would be the result.
And didn’t we lose against Shaktar in the first leg game when 8 of their starters were missing due to covid? This is more than just us lacking quality
If the game was played on paper, we'd win every game. This isn't about the quality of the players. It's about the intensity, the drive, the determination, and the discipline. These players lack all of those. I expected to show some character today and they get a giant D minus (because at least they played a goalless first half well).
We have all the other teams doing everything they can to get us through and we're probably going to botch it lol.
YS?! I've been advocating for that move from game 1 for Mendy! Anyway. I'm more Madridista than all yall.
