He's a much bigger problem than Zidane and whoever the next coach is will just be used as his scapegoat.

Last season we grinded out results with team working hard defensively. That was gonna disappear fast when LV and Marcelo plays a lot as FBs. Shakthar killed us on counter in both games and ZZ played into that trap. At least play 4 defenders when Casemiro isn't starting as well.

I don't understand bad comments on Asensio. He should have scored, yes, but otherwise he was really dangerous both with shoots and progressing the ball through the midfield. Did we watch the same game?
I think this is important to say before commenting on Zizou. Not sure if he could have done better. Result is awfull, but team played well until individual mistake of our best defender on the field.

Yeah, that City game destroyed him mentally. He never recovered from it. He's just finished. We have to get him out of here to stabilize this defense.

Mendy killed a perfect goal scoring opportunity then he set up their goal which changed the entire theme of the game.

Zidane wanted him and spent €48M on him. That's on Zidane.

It's also on Zidane that we still haven't given that Castilla kid a run. I get he is under pressure and this team with Ramos carrying it seems dead, but what would it hurt to take your chances on Miguel instead of Marcelp this weekend and having him as an option for today?

Yep but the coach is the one who gets looked at always, it's not fair, Zidane approached this game very well, Asensio makes that first goal and we're cruising most likely.

Anyway, I think we still have a mathematical chance to qualify. We have to hope for the best, but the odds are not in our favor. We need to beat the best team in the group and that's just not likely by this husk of a team.

Guess we better prepare to dwell with the Europa boys.

He is the reason Zidane is a problem.

This is the President who refused to sell Gareth Bale and James last year when he could have cut their wages out... even when his manager publicly didn't want either to remain.

This is a President who uses our success to not make us better while all of our opponents for years even in success strove to get better.

This is a President who babies Isco, Marcelo, etc.. why the hell would they leave? For all we know he blocks their departue like he blocked Gareth Bale.

Florentino is our best in history. However he is killing us and has been for a while.

Im not joking,im OK with Europa league, like i said before the game i prefer EL over finishing second...we will get destroyed by Bayern,Liverpool etc.

In EL we have a chance to do something,no winning it probably because we are that bad but still there is a chance in the CL there is no chance of winning.

Its so easy to counter against us. As soon as Shaktar switched sides they had a free run at our defenders. The gap between the defenders and midfielder is faaar to big. It makes it easier for these smaller teams with fast players to run at the likes of Varane who have no idea how to defend 1v1

Isco and Marcelo were shunned by Solari. It's ZZ who brought those out of shape semi pros into the lineup the minute he took over. Flo is at fault for Bale. But it's ZZ who decided to keep Marcelo, Isco, Lucas etc while shipping out Reguilon, Brahim, Ceballos.

We controlled them until Mendy decided to pass the game away.

Varane sucks and I wanted him gone months ago, but Mendy is the one who was the catalyst to the goal from nowhere.

After that goal they sat 7 behind the ball and used 3 speedsters to counter. Easy peasy

When YS made the Mendy to Cb comment earlier this season because of his strength it made sense. He can probably play there but I think people forget Reguilon isn’t all that defensively and if our CBs aren’t top notch and on their games that side can get exposed. But that’s also due to our lack of quality on the left wing.

Zidane shunned Isco as well. This season. It wasn't till we were too injured to fill our 19 that Isco got to play.

Even with Solari, was Florentino going to sell them? No. Just like Florentino didn't sell frozen out Gareth Bale.

Florentino is the reason this roster has basically died. What sucks most is when we actually spent money we bought bums.

Problem is that these players are so used to doing the same shit over and over again that I don't think a new coach would be able to get rid of all the automatic crosses and side passes.

Only chance I see is getting someone who puts some faith and motivates Jovic and Vini.

There's no way our attack can improve without their input. Anything else is just more of the same.

I only saw the 2nd half but Shaktar were looking really threatening on the counter. In my eyes they looked the more likely to score as the game was progressing.

Didn't all our chances to score fall to defenders? It's not as if we were carving them up at will.

I don't even care he isn't a defensive juggernaut. This team needs attack from it's FB and Mendy is inconsistent anyways.

Mendy has killed the idea of FB for me. The guy can be good defensively then do something crazy. Whenever he attacks he actually plays against us.

Well go back and watch the first half. You will be confused and bewildered.

Asensio missed a sitter. Mendy blew achance to set up a Benzema sitter. Etc..

It was like this weekend with Kroos misses, etc.

deadweight is one thing, but managing the players and assigning them to different positions is something that comes from the coach.
Zidane will live and die with his 433 though we clearly don't have the players for that formation.

We can't get rid of players who refuse to leave. Mariano for example. But ZZ could easily use Reguilon and Brahim and tell deadweight they won't get minutes if they stay like he told Mariano. He gave Isco far too many chances despite being out of shape while Ceballos was shipped off. He has sentimental attachment towards Marcelo, Isco and Lucas the same way Flo protected Bale. While those two didn't even bother to stay in shape.

Yeah, we disagree here as I think he can be more than fine at LB with chemistry in a normal lineup and a proper Madrid quality attacher in front of him. That said I’d still buyback Reguilon and loan out the Castilla kid, who let’s be honest we don’t really know how good he is. One of Mendy or Reguilon could be moved on (or Mendy to LCB) if Miguel shows the quality in La Liga that people suggest he has.

He's alright defensively, fullbacks today are far more important for what they offer in other aspects of the game.
The poor organization of the team on the pitch is on the coach and his staff imo.

Fair enough, I'll take your word for it.

I thought we looked very predictable in the 2nd half. No intensity or cutting edge. Lots of lateral passes but not really hurting. Can't say I ever thought the goal was coming.
