Two great videos describing potential outcomes and the problems our boy suffered immediately after the injury and how touch and go the next 72 hours are. God, here's hoping for the best. Luiz really has to feel the weight of his recklessness to finally get it.

If he does recover hes going to have issues mentally going into headers on corners no matter what.

    I hope Raul recovers well.

I believe he needs to wear protective head gear just like the keeper, Petr Cech.

Man, I think he is reckless rather than malevolent. he always seems really sorry after his stupidity. Honestly, whenever I see him he defends like a forward. Clumsy, slow to challenge, and without nuance.

An injury like that to a player like him at a point in his career like now

    It's the f#cking worst

    Just the worst

    This.

Didn’t think his tackle was in any way malicious. Just very reckless (and stupid) as some of his tackles tend to be.

Being sorry for it doesn’t make it okay.

I really feel like he should be slapped with a ban of a few games at the VERY least. History has to weigh here.

Nowhere near intentional; reckless, yes. The sound of the collision is pretty horrifying. Makes me sick to think that this could have serious effect on his career.

I was at a game over 20 years ago, at Molineux. Wolves striker Don Goodman fractured his skull under similar circumstances, though he was the attacking player in that incident. The crack was heard by the crowd. I believe he was a similar age to Raul at the time.

The positive news is that he was back playing in six months (originally expected to be out for a year). Hopefully Raul will make a quick recovery and be back playing for Wolves and Mexico before long.

But then take into account what happened with Ryan Mason and Gary Cahill in 2017. Mason did come back only to eventually retire in 2018.

Granted, I hope Rulo recovers fully and plays better than before, but it's a toss up as to what will actually happen.

I know. I'm trying to stay positive (not easy for a Wolves fan, considering what we've been through in the last 40 years!) The main thing is that he recovers for the sake of his family and himself. I want to see him back playing, but their welfare is most important.

Seems to be the case with the majority of Mexican players that go abroad

    Chicharo with ManU
    Raúl with Wolves
Salcido, Guardado, & Maza with PSV

So the Mexican national team staff and coach think his recovery won’t be as long as once feared.

I think anyone can chip in to the "£9 for RJ9" but "if you can only afford £1 that’s fine too". Anything above the intended goal will go to a charity of Raul's choosing.

According to the Wolves club doctor, Matt Perry (not to be confused with the guy who played Chandler in Friends):

"We are delighted with the reports from his specialist; he has made excellent progress. He should be ready to leave hospital by early next week,"

"Any injury of this nature is complex and timescales are uncertain but it's safe to say that Raul's most immediate needs are simple: space, rest and peace."
