Kenya 2 - Zambia 2. Kenya benefited with an own goal by Zambia. Zambia has a slight edge heading into the second leg.
FINAL ROUND Jan. 13 & 22 Cameroon vs. Zambia Winner qualifies for the Olympics. The loser goes into play-off vs. Chile (Feb. 2020).
Just noticed the inter confederation play-offs are delayed as well: Extension of the type I window in April 2020 by one day (specifically, 6-15 April 2020) exclusively for the two teams in the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament 2020 intercontinental play-off between CONMEBOL and CAF
Match was very tight. Impressed by Zambia. I wonder if they can counter on Tuesday at home? They need a 2-1 to advance as they'd win on the away goals rule. A 3-2 win would send it to PKs.
1-0 as well will be enough for Zambia (highlights) looks like some person run on the field just after Cameroon 3rd goal. He/she was toppled to the ground by stewards immediatelly but then again after the final whistle a lot more people were running on the pitch chased by stewards and players were urged to leave quickly. Let's hope nothing more serious, beside a fine from CAF will come out of it.
Zambia leads 2-0 at halftime. There's a crappy Facebook live feed out there, but it's really not worth watching. Let's see if Cameroon comes back. 2-2 draw would see Cameroon qualify. Zambia looking to qualify for their first Olympics.
Cameroon scores a late goal, but it's not enough. Zambia wins 2-1, aggr. tied at 4-4, but Zambia qualifies on the away goal rule.
Ranked 116th by FIFA when they started qulification process in April 2019. Year later they'are going to the Olympics

If they ever build the team's statue, maybe they can engrave this marvellous post-match quotation from the manager, Bruce Mwape: "I am very happy to be the first coach to qualify the team to the Olympics. I may not look happy but it is just that I am a little stressed after all the shouting" Tim Grainey's report: The Week in Women's Football: Africa update; Euro qualifying https://www.tribalfootball.com/arti...date-european-championship-qualifying-4319495 (Archive) (Zambia WNT) As discussed in the Olympics thread: If nothing else, this gives more time to arrange the playoff, Cameroon v Chile, which can now theoretically wait for months, if that's necessary. Organizing even a local game isn't possible in some countries at the moment, so a home-and-away intercontinental match will have extra complications. But it'll be a good day when it happens.
