In that very same post I said he’d be in my squad AND praised his positioning... As regards Grealish I didn’t even mention him yesterday as he had one of his ‘average’ games (whilst still being the vest on the pitch) .
Curtis Jones impresses more and more with every game .. maybe he’ll be in consideration if he gets loads of games under his belt ??
Soooo ... talking about Grealish ... I loved seeing Jota playing so well for Liverpool today and it highlights the benefits of playing with a great team and better players . At Wolves he just looked like a really decent player but now he’s getting more chances , has more options around him and looks like a special player . Now imagine how good Grealish would be in a team like Liverpool or ManCity !!
Just to play devil's advocate on this, not all players thrive at bigger clubs. Some rely on being the "main man". Zaha is a good example. Now Grealish is a better player than Zaha was when he moved to Man Utd, and I think he has the game to fit into other systems, but there is never a guarantee a player will adapt and step up.
Zaha was unlucky at Man utd. If it wasn't for Moyes he'd probably still be there today(and playing for England).
He’s kinda proved he can play on the ‘big stage ‘ though with his outstanding performances with England ??!! If there’s ever a chance of someone getting stage fright it would have happened given the spotlights were on him for each and every match .. Looks like the bigger the occasion the better he plays ...when others shy away from the ball he’s demanding it wherever he happens to be on the pitch ... he’s fearless and ideally suited for a big club . I happen to think he’d transform Man United .. but he’d do well with Liverpool and ManCity imho
you miss understand Grealish at Villa has everything go through him, at a bigger club he may not get the same creative freedom or the same amount of the ball, some players cannot cope with that and need to be the focal point, he was for England, but had Sterling been on the other wing that may not have been the case. It remains to be seen if he could cope with not being the main man and still produce similar numbers
You may have missed my point then ( or I didn’t explain it clearly enough ) as he’s obviously not the type of player who will take kindly to taking a back seat in events. He will always be available and demanding the ball .. take that away and he’d be only half the player he is .. I feel certain that any future club would know what they’re getting with him.
I think so. If Southgate was serious and incorporating him into the squad then I think he'd have been given meaningful minutes against Iceland.
Roverman, don't know if you've seen this but should give you a good laugh. Someone on the USA forum thinking we should be investigated for capping players born in England https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/c...then-complain-when-england-caps-them.2112212/
Actually looks like half our forum was on that thread....so tangentially linked to it does anyone think we should call Musah up?
Well to be fair, the other guys from the US found it equally absurd if we’re honest, it was mainly just the op with his bizarre logic.
