I mean you only get a choice between two candidates So I certainly prefer a candidate who is fit, not morbidly obese, not slurring words, etc etc It is a part of the overall picture
But you could have a terrible diet and still be skinny, just because your body has a natural metabolism. Being fat isn't necessarily indicative of being unfit/unhealthy. Look at some of those NFL linesmen. Or sumo wrestlers. Or..... Fat ≠ unhealthy, although the two correlate. In Trump's case, it does.
Yeah, but if a candidate is old and fat but respects the nation's institutions and has positions on the issues that are acceptable to me, I would have no problem voting for that person.
who wouldn't last 15 minutes in, eg, a professional soccer game. unless playing in goal I guess. their aerobic fitness is atrocious.
Better than an offensive lineman. Although I suppose a nose tackle could on occasion come in handy for holding up the ball while in the opponent's box.
And NFL linemen used to have average lifespans in the late 50s. Don't know where it is at these days. But they are not healthy. They eat horrifically to maintain their weights.
I watched a couple hours of the Wisconsin recount on Saturday. It was really compelling to watch bureaucracy at work.
WHen I was in journalism I covered township meetings. Watching the Michigan meeting reminded me of that and as to why I don't miss it too much.
If the ultra-marathoner has decent ball skills (crossing) they would not be bad. I speak as somebody who could run everybody off the pitch when in high school, but my ball control skills were, um, questionable.
Sure you can make edge cases Technically I am slightly overweight but I am also very fit right now But it's hard to make a case that a morbidly obese guy is in any decent shape to govern. Nor does he take his responsibility seriously
VOTER FRAUD!!! https://www.jsonline.com/story/news...darburg-woman-charged-voter-fraud/6395296002/ Christine Daikawa, 48, faces two counts — making a false statement to obtain or vote an absentee ballot, a misdemeanor, and election fraud by impersonating an elector, a felony. But wait. Cedarburg City Clerk Tracie Sette told investigators that when election workers tried to log an absentee vote that had been dropped off on Election Day, records showed the voter, Elizabeth "Lizzy" Larson, was deceased. The vote, therefore, was not counted. Well, look at that. Elections working as they should.
If we can't convince people through rational argumentation in favor of rational policymaking, we're screwed anyways. If Democrats run on and are elected on being frightened of the electorate and scared to step on toes, they will govern as such as well. And that's just not what is needed in this moment in history IMO. But it's long past time for me to stop; it's not my intent to anger the people here, or to troll. I appreciate @soccernutter, @charlie15, and the rest of this forum. I learn a lot from your perspectives, and I don't mean to burn through my rope here.
Obesity is the most studied health condition there is, and it's not even close. So much money is being spent on it because the person that cracks it will make a billionaire look like a pauper. But we still have no idea why some people get fat and others don't.
Dude, we appreciate you around here but sometimes you can learn from others who have been around the block and been fighting that fight for decades now. Beyond that, as I mentioned, you need to get your facts right, Spanberger never mentioned BLM at any point. You should have corrected that.
Hmm.. I think you're stretching your argument a bit there, dude... The better argument is to point out that the criteria applied to women's looks is different to men in politics,
I have a hard time equating the two. I've seen some amazing organizers, teachers, administrators who give everything they have to be the best they can be, and weight/health management is just something that doesn't get tended to. I can't possibly say they shouldn't be in that role just because they are overweight, even morbidly obese. I have a brother who his morbidly obese, probably because he got a LOT of antibiotics as a child. He works out a bunch, but will NEVER EVER not be morbidly obese. Just looking at him, ymany think he's lazy and feeble-minded. He's had to deal with that his whole life. Whereas, I've never broke 160# and don't think I ever will. I have barely exercised at all since my 1st daughter was born 3.5yrs ago.
