Still, a good showing by San Jose, better than expected, and an entertaining game. Well done by both teams. :)

I don't think I've ever seen that in PKs.

Jumping Jehosophats! Three stone cold saves. No drama in the PK shootout today. MLS is saved!

Someone should look into giving Melia a call up, maybe.

I can't go so far as to say I've NEVER seen it, but I can't remember seeing it off the top of my head. Wow.

Those were poor penalties, but Melia's stopping of them is uncanny. Doesn't give away anything w/ his movement & then explodes authoritatively w/ a strong hand. Don't think he's guessing either. Reflexive & makes you hit it really well to make it.

That was unbelievable. At this point Melia has to be in the head of anyone taking a PK against him.

I sorta hope he does, if only because he deserves to have an appreciation day in front of a full house in San Jose, for what he's meant to the franchise and the league.

No question. I meant embarrassing outcome in that they lost as quickly as is humanly possible in a shootout. Not embarrassing in effort. They at least put their shots on goal.

I mean if you’re going into a tournament you may as well bring a PK specialist as the 3rd GK

Meanwhile, in that other sport known as football, the Packers are on the verge of suffering a blown tire of their own. They led the Colts 28-7. They now trail 31-28 with 2:00 to play!

That game actually reminded me a bit of the 2004 EC Final between DC and New England.

Well, I'm willing to cut them some slack if it's a league's youngest ever goal scorer!
