Not surprising. Salah was just at his brothers wedding. Saw a video with up close mass dancing and no masks ........ https://www.joe.co.uk/sport/mo-salah-covid-19-255991
Liverpool's upcoming Premier League fixture against Leicester City has been rescheduled to Sun 22nd. https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/415912-liverpool-v-leicester-city-fixture-rescheduled
I read yesterday (somewhere) that physios say an extra day between games seems like it's irrelevant, but it definitely isn't. it can really help with recovery. so it all helps.
At this point we could be missing 5 players who we'd expect to star - Trent, Virgil, Gomez, Fab, Mo. Good news - another 8 days to go. Bad news - another 8 days to go.
Since Virgil went down, Fabinho, Phillips, Rhys, and Matip have all had good games at centerback. However the common denominator is that they all had Gomez partnering them and holding down the left side. Which of these guys can successfully switch to the left side? Will we start seeing drops in performances when we pair any two of these together, without Gomez’ pace to cover? With that said, Fabinho and Matip are a solid partnership for Leicester. Henderson, Thiago, and Gini could be a dominant midfield. Or maybe even Naby Keita is ready to come back. He was one of our best players post lockdown and the start of this season. We have Jota to come in for Salah. After all the stories about Liverpool being in crisis, Brendan Rodgers and Leicester will be discouraged when they see our teamsheet. These players are more than capable of getting us through some tough times.
Capable yes, but we will need Bobby to be in good form re his pressing and ball-winning because we really miss Henderson in the press when he is gone (not confirmed that he is out but it sounds very iffy, same with Robertson Will be a real test of depth. I can see our XI as: Alison Milner or Neco, Matip, Phillips, Tsimikas Gini, Keita, Jones Mane, Bobby, Jota. Might also see Milner in midfield.
Now that lineup would be a concern. But I expect Thiago and Fabinho to play. I’m also hopeful that Robertson’s “injury” was just an excuse not to play a meaningless game after playing 120 minutes. Not sure about Henderson. Maybe it was nothing.
Thiago is almost a 100% certainty to play here. I don't mind playing Tsmikas - he seems like a perfect fit in the few glimpses we have seen.
This assumes no Fab, and no Thiago, and using 4-3-3 oh, and no more injuries !! https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-team-lineup-leicester-injury-23018745 Liverpool’s three best potential starting line-ups vs Leicester (4-3-3) - Alisson; Milner, Matip, Phillips, Tsimikas; Jones, Wijnaldum, Keita; Jota, Firmino, Mane (4-3-3) - Alisson; N.Williams, Matip, Phillips, Tsimikas; Wijnaldum, Milner, Keita; Jota, Firmino, Mane (4-2-3-1) - Alisson; N.Williams, Matip, R.Williams, Tsimikas; Wijnaldum, Milner; Minamino, Firmino, Mane; Jota
my guess - which assumes Hendo and Thiago are OK but Fab not ready: Alisson; Milner, Matip, Phillips, Tsimikas; Thiago, Wijnaldum, Hendo (Keita if not available) Jota, Firmino, Mane best case: Alisson; Milner, Matip, Fab, Tsimikas; Thiago, Wijnaldum, Hendo Jota, Firmino, Mane
Assuming health...this would be my preference: Alisson N.Williams - Phillips (Fab) - Matip - Tsimikas Tiago Gini - Keita Mane - Firmino - Jota Klopp might consider Jones and Milner in midfield Rest Hendo and Robbo for Atalanta or BHA
