So... after all that, we get to the postseason. Let's do the West first, because it's less frickin' complicated. (1)Sporting KC v (8)SJ Earthquakes (2)Seattle Sounders v (7)Los Angeles Football Club (3)Portland Timbers v (6) FC Dallas (4)Minnesota United v (5)Colorado Rapids In the East: Prelims: (7)Nashville SC v (10)Inter Miami CF (8)New England Revolution v (9)Montreal Impact Then, (1)Philadelphia Union v Lower-seeded prelim survivor (2)Toronto FC v Higher-seeded prelim survivor (3)Columbus Crew SC v (6)New York Red Bulls (4)Orlando City SC v (5)New York City FC
It will be interesting to see the schedule beyond the 20th. Will the winners of those play in games be in two of the matches on the 24th or do they have to come back on the 22nd? How strongly will the 1 and 2 seed for each conference be given maximum rest vs opponents coming off of shorter breaks? This is going to be something else, even by MLS playoff standards.
You really think they will make the play-in winners play Friday-Sunday with a travel day in between? The E1 and E2 games will surely be on Tuesday along with one West game in the late time slot.
Several US sports make teams do things like that. Prior to this year, MLB has been making the two wild card teams play a game and then the winner gets 1 day rest before starting their playoff series.
That's apples and oranges. MLB teams play every day during their seasons. NHL and NBA also play some back-to-backs during their regular seasons. That is not a convincing argument MLS is even going to consider this.
Fun fact: The last time FCD played a non-Cascadia team in the playoffs was in 2011, when they played the Red Bulls. Since then: 2012: No playoffs 2013: No playoffs 2014: Beat Vancouver in 1st round, lost to Seattle in Western Conference semis 2015: Beat Seattle in Western Conference semis, lost to Portland in Western Conference final 2016: Lost to Seattle in Western Conference semis 2017: No playoffs 2018: Lost to Portland in 1st round 2019: Lost to Seattle in 1st round And if FCD beats Portland, they'll most likely face... Seattle.
I don't do friendlies. Unless I'm in town and actually attending one. That doesn't mean there shouldn't be friendlies; I just don't watch them. Although I'm not the biggest USMNT fan anyway.
Lletget ruined the party by getting on the same scoresheet as the hyper awesome too-good-for-Berhalter young dudes. Good times.
MLS may be chartering flights for the players out on international duty and believe this will allow them to bypass the 10-day quarantine for players returning from international duty. https://www.espn.com/soccer/major-l...rnational-duty-to-sidestep-quarantine-sources
As a Loon supporter, I'm REALLY happy about possibly to have four of our starters not having to miss Sunday's match because they're in quarantine.
