i ordered soccer digest about... three weeks ago so i should be getting this month's. my friend and i had this whole discussion about how they were jumping on mac the whole game. i mean, mac is going to see this tape when the team dissects it, and that is gonna make her feel soo much better. did they not notice that beautiful pass she made to CP who butchered the finish. "nice try" my ass, that shoulda been a sure goal. What really pissed me off is all that talk about whether they should replace mac or let her "struggle" through it. she's not playing bad, she actually had the most chances! i think maddy was paying back shannon for that time mac wacked maddy's sister katie in the head with the dumbell.
Oh crap, I forgot about that! haha Right on, Oddball#34....Shannon is the badass of Women's Soccer, coolest kid [even though she is older than me] you could ever meet [besides my buddy holly...haha, I mean buddy, holly...not the singer]!
I was at UCSD yesterday for the women's soccer game and right after I sat down at the top of the bleachers I looked up and there was Shannon, carrying a little boy up the aisle steps, right by me! She obviously wasn't there for the game, as she and another young lady (who was wrangling two other kids) went out to the parking lot, got in their utv's and left. Since it was homecoming weekend, I assume that the lady with Mac was a graduate...
OMG..ive been gone sooo long so i just want to say hi to everyone and say im back.... heheh hopefully i wont get busted anymore@1 am by my mom....hehehee..... ok peace out heheh and since i havent been able to see whats up on bs AVRIL IS AWESOME AND SO IS MAC!!
Mac looked good at the game tonight, too bad she didn't score on any of her cannon shots - but any goal is a good goal, so I'm sure that she'll take that easy one... By the way, I saw Lab & TS on TV, right after that first goal - they were showed standing up and celebrating...
knm and milbrett were in there, too. Great shots by Shannon. Glad she finally tallied the goal. She was up and attacking well and it paid off.
Hey Gold Cup, learn better marketing...and Rose Bowl/Titan Stadium, You suck!! Alright, from the title of this post you wouldn't think I had anything good to say about the events that took place between Oct 27th and 29th....ah, but you are wrong..30% of it was good. 10% because Shannon scored sunday 10% because Shannon started tuesday 10% because, well, Shannon overall just plain kicks ass First off, my pal Holly was in town for a visit. So with us being Mac's top supporters...it was a must that we attended these games to cheer it up for "the star." (Sidenote: Holly and I had come up with a pretty f***in' cool sign [for mac] that Holly took to the game in Columbus...it kicked so much [edited for the kiddies] grass, that we had to get it to the games in Cali also) October 27, 2002: Arrive at the Rose Bowl 20 mins until Panama/T&T game time. We are carrying our work of art (holly made this thing look so awesome, wish they would have put it on tv..it was huge) to the gate and the security guards tell us we can't bring it in. our faces? -> So we have a minute where we get pissed and try to talk our way in...they weren't having it, so I ran the sign back to the car. We enter the stadium - pissed of course - and Holly is a southerner, so she has to get some beer...carrie is the jack&coke, holly is the beer. And she comes to find they only have bud, not bud light. Her face? -> so she puts up with the extra calories - pissed of course- and we go over to the Spirit booth, say hi, and then walk down to our seats which weren't as good as we thought. (I would put another "eek", but BS won't allow me. So I will just go [eek] and you can imagine the face. *wink* tehehe) OK, So the Rose Bowl Ticket people are more Anal than Martha Stewart when you add 2 cups of cranberry juice to your christmas eve punch instead of 1 and 3/4ths. We had to sneak around to get better seats...they were watching us like hawks. Argh. Panama/T&T was like watching AYSO, holly and I made a pact to one day be stars together on one of the teams, but we were too pissed to decide when we'd try out. So the US jogs onto the field right after the T&T game...they don't have time to warm up, and we realize-pissed of course- that shannon isn't starting. our faces? -> [eek] Well, we have to get over to the other side so we can be behind the bench and closer to the action. We have to nag April until she puts Mac in. So we come up with some elaborate story/lie/whatever, and get down to the first row behind the bench. Woohoo! (Sidenote: the peanut man walks by and holly says, "is there any way I can talk you into becoming the beer man?"....think that line worked? I'll let you know in my next installment) So Mac gets in, we raise hell and 90+ she scores...we are jumping in the aisle. Just what the doctor ordered for her! So the game ends, they warm down, Mac sees us and we talk to her, day ended better than it started (thanks shannon, as usual). Part 2 OK, so here is my second installment (and possibly my last...unless there is something fun to b*tch about on Nov. 9th) of Hey Gold Cup, learn better marketing...and Rose Bowl/Titan Stadium, You suck!! October 29, 2002 We decide we want to get to fullerton pretty early so we can sit down and have a nice meal before the game...so we leave my house at 3:30. After switching off onto at least five different freeways to get to the damn place, we end up arriving there at 5:45....So instead of Cheesecake Factory or Chili's, we go to Carl's Jr. Yes, a drive that was supposed to take just under an hour turned out to be 2hrs and 15mins. Gotta love So-Cal traffic. Anyway, we get pretty lost finding our way in,then we go to the gate and they say its for reserved seats only. Gee, thanks, so we ended up waiting (with our buddy liz) in the line to get in for a good 15 mins. not bad, but the thing on our minds is...."Are they going to let us in with this mother-load of a sign?" Well, they do. Yay! But we realize that we forgot tape to hang it with. So we make our way up to a booth and get some string and an exacto to punch holes and put the string through so we can hang it off the railing, perfect. so we head down to go hang it up and we are stopped by security. "We can't let you hang that. It is for an individual player and it might obstruct people's vision. You can hold it up, though." Wait, wait....it might obstruct people's vision if we hang it off a concrete ledge where no one behind it will even know, but it won't obstruct their vision if two girls hold this mofo right in front of their faces. Congratulations Titan Stadium Security, you've won the award for Biggest Mo-Mo Staff. Nevertheless, we are pissed. They did have Bud Lite, so that made Holly smile for a smidge. So we go check on our seats. They suck. Yes, I can describe them in two words...they suck. So we decide to try to hold up the sign during warmups so at least Shannon sees that we got the sucker in. What happens the second we move down there, she moves to the other side of the field. Oh well, we hold it up anyway just to give some MacDaddy props...people looking at us like we're nuts, others like we're, well, nuts. At that point we didn't care 'cause we were pissed. The team goes in to get on their jerseys so we decide to switch sides of the field so we can be on the side where the benches are. So where do the teams end of facing for the anthems? Yeah, the side we're NOT ON. So the game goes on, shannon starts (woohoo), and the team wins (yay). Holly wants to say goodbye to Shannon, but we forgot about the second game. Our faces? -> So they rush the US team off...damnit. Oh well, holly will let her know what happened somehow...we were just bummed about the whole night anyway. So we want to set the sign on fire because we are so upset with all we went through for it, but we just throw it away instead. I will say, holly did have a nice visit and I am glad the US did so well, I just wish we would have had better luck. (See Shannon, we did actually get it into Titan for ya'....too bad we couldn't get it up) Carrie - haha, yeah, see, I don't screw up your name anymore. And in case you were wondering,the peanut man did become the beer man when holly offered him a tip. heh heh. So #8 scored 2 goals last night, that Shannon Mac kid isn't too bad! (and Tiff scored 5....damn, girl ate her wheaties!)
Costa Rico game Mac gets another goal on one of her patented knuckleballing screamers, but hits another post... And Mama Joy just misses out on not one, not two, not three, but four goals! And Jules had several chances go awry, including being offside on that one goal. The Ticas' keeper did a great job of keeping the score down to the final 7-0. Aly looked really good for a second game in a row. I'm glad that she won't be playing for SCU in tomorrow night's game against USD at Torero...
Hey, we all have our off games. I can't even count how many times those almost goals have happened to me. Joy Fawcett has proven herself enough already, she's allowed to make mistakes. Julie's goal was onsides, and Joy's last header went past the line, even though it was a stellar effort by the keep'. Great goal, Shannon, I could hear the rippling of the net all the way down in LA. Go USA! I'll be cheering hard on saturday at the (sucky) Rose Bowl.
