What should be top priority for the club this summer?

  1. Sign Camavinga

    33.3%
  2. Sell Bale/James (and other deadweight)

    40.9%
  3. Address backup RB

    1.5%
  4. Save the funds for next summer, go after Mbappe

    24.2%

So who's he replacing Mendy or Varane? Don't think he he will come here for a bench role.

He can rotate in our midfield. Provide cover for Kroos and Casemiro

We have these areas covered and he is not coming to be a sub, i'd rather just get Regulion back if we're need of another LB.

I'd still try to make it work. Ramos is not getting any younger. Marcelo is leaving next season probably...

With Marcelo out you'd have Mendy/Regulion for the left, and i doubt Ramos leaves next season which means he remains a starter, this move would make sense depending on what Varane chooses to do, he's had one foot out of the door for a while now.

Alaba is a no brainer. Bring him in January.

Alaba plays in three key positions (CB/FB/MF) like a natural. He's a ridiculous asset.

Unless he has a deal set in place with somebody else, you throw your hat in. It's a must.

There are very strong links with ManCity, but I'd still call up his father and Zahavi to have a chat.

I can see City throwing the kitchen sink at him in terms of wages, highlighting a greater need for him than us.
But he would be a fantastic addition to the team, adds a lot of attributes to the team.

    Yes?
Under Zidane Alaba isnt benching Varane, he is not as good as Ramos, he isnt a better midfielder than any of Kroos or Fede and the LB spot is Mendy's to lose.

There was just a discussion last page of not buying players then finding ways to fit them lol.

    Alaba would be exactly that.

No doubt I would bring him on a free (significant bonused will be paid let's be honest) however the question is where will Alaba fit?

He's too good to be a backup. He's better than Varane but we aren't benching Varane to settle Alaba (I would, Zidane wouldn't). He's better than Marcelo and Mendy, however we didn't spend €48M to stifle and bench. He's better than Carvajal but again, no one is benching Carvajal. He's could work in our midfield but in place of players who are stallworths and not getting benched (Kroos, Casemiro).

So how do we make this work? I know what I would do (bench Varane, maybe sell this summer for big bucks). What could we legitimately do?

Any move we make for a CB will be dependent on what Varane is going to do, he said he wanted to leave before but I doubt he still does which means whoever comes will have to settle for a backup role and Alaba won’t.

Alaba will give you more offensively than Mendy but he isn’t as good defensively plus Mendy is much younger so we don’t want to lose him, doubt he accepts a bench role for 4 years or so.
Our focus next summer should be on Camavinga, Mbappe, Halaand as well as bringing some quality to that right wing of ours, we’re pathetic there but I can see why Alaba for free is hard to pass up.

My focus next summer is Camavinga and Mbappe. At least we will have our right side and midfield depth sorted.

If we're lucky enough Varane says he wants another adventure and we sell him for a stupid amount while getting a refreshed and hungry Alaba for free.

Also that Aouar would be a target

Dump (force out) Marcelo, Isco, Asensio, etc

Alaba is much better than Mendy. Let's not get crazy here.

Where do you guys think he ends up? EPL big club or Barcelona?

Signing Alaba makes so much sense, there have been a few matches where we were short on players, our injuries record hasn't been getting any better, and the quality of our depth isn't really good enough, Alaba would be a great asset, fills multiple positions like a glove, and can eventually replace Ramos in 2(ish) years' time.

    You sign him

Give him the LB spot and rotate him on other positions when needing to rest Casemiro, Kroos, and Ramos

Mendy would just have to suck it up even though he would still play a lot.

Why wouldn’t he bench Varane when he is better?
Regardless, Alaba is better than Mendy..
Ramos is getting old and we need a proper replacement and Varane is not it..
And there are 3 midfielder spots not two..
With so many good players that Bayern has Alaba usually rotates.. it will be same here .. and if he is healthy he will play most games because we always have players injured or Ramos suspended..

Alaba’s not coming here, this is crazy talk. Dude is taking a fat paycheque from a club who can offer him starting minutes.

City would be my guess. Wouldn’t sleep on Liverpool either now with VVD sidelined.

Alaba hasn’t played midfield in ages and he certainly isn’t benching Kroos or Casemiro. Same goes for Ramos or Varane at the back.

He’s openly said he doesn’t see himself as a LB anymore so scratch that idea.

It's not about recruiting anyone to replace him. Just trying to bring a very good player who is useful since we lack depth.

    No brainer to me
