The things you read on here sometimes. Bielsa and Gasperini better than Zidane. That should be our cue to stop engaging with the troll. This is pointless.
Dumb comparison from the dude. I do like both of those guys though. They both get a lot out of their squads and their teams play fun football.
Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t like all those coaches here at Madrid I was just giving some examples. You make some good points as well. Also, I’ve heard people talk about Raúl as a possible successor to Zidane. I really haven’t followed Castilla that much but supposedly he’s showing signs of a good coach and I saw an article where he said he learned a lot from his stint in Germany and I really like the football they play over there. He also won the uefa youth league. What do you think of him?
Not creative enough ( obvious comparison to Marcelo will always keep coming) , also needs to work on his crosses. However , I think it is done by design to have one solid defensive full back( Mendy) and the other one attacking ( Carvajal ), leads to help in falling back and shore up the defensive lines.
“Troll! troll!” typical response from a guy who has no counter argument. Imagine Zidane with Leeds squad or Atalantas lolol... I see something called relegation.
None of us expected ZZ to win so much when he took over. Pressure on Raul to perform will perhaps be much much more than ZZ, Raul is an institution by himself. Probably needs more time to hone his skills. He will command respect from the players, which is a massive plus. Would love to see him succeed as a coach here
ZZ has done enough to have the space where he can choose where he wants to coach. Why would he go to Leeds or Atalanta ?
That’s not my point, read the post again. Anyways I wouldn’t like Bielsa at Madrid because his style doesn’t fit the league but I would definitely take Gasperini
Gasperini, Bielsa are not suitable for top clubs. They'd be a worse fit than Lope. Inter job was too big for Gasperini.
These are all nobodies compared to Zidane who is one of the best coaches in history. Numbers don’t lie.
Going forward( once everyone is back ) Zidane should go back to strictly using a 4312, it’s brought us a lot of success last season defensively and with Hazerd back and hopefully staying fit and Odegaard now in the squad I want to see this be our main line up. Carvajal Ramos Varane Mendy ......Fede Casemiro Kroos ...............Odegaard ...Benzema ............Hazard
The over-criticism for Mendy is very short-sighted. Most of the rest of the squad get a long leash for poor performances, often several games in a row, this kid is more than entitled to a bad game. Secondly, whilst he isn't as offensively proficient as Marcelo, we really need to stop expecting him to solve our woeful attacking. If the forwards were scoring, and he was doing his usual defensive job, people wouldn't moan.
Tuchel was in that discussion two to three years ago. Pep's favorite student and personal friend. Now he's Bein considered an architect of chaos at PSG.
I disagree heavily. He was an unmitigated disaster that second half defending and attacking. The second goal was entirely his fault. The amount of counters he created and didn't bother to properly defend is only second to the amount of offensive build up he stifled with horrible passes or loose possession.
Anyone can have a bad game. He’s French so I doubt Zizou will freeze him out for it like he did with Odriozola and he’s been good for most of the time he’s been here. I don’t think he’s good in offence but I think he looks like he’s “starter for Real Madrid” material. The issues with our team lie elsewhere.
Just to be clear, I wasn't referring to his performance yesterday, I actually said he had a "shocker" in the match thread itself. My point was referencing people's hyperbole, e.g. saying that he should be a CB, he doesn't do enough in attack (he's no Marcelo, etc.). I fully agree that he made some glaring mistakes, on more than one occasion, last night.
Irrespective of his performances here, even I believe he can become a better CB than a LB , hardly ever get dispossessed, positionally aware, good pace and strength. And if he continues as a LB, he needs to better his offensive output and crosses. He is the only transfer that has panned out till now. So hopefully, he keeps getting better and better.
Would be a good idea in case Varane leaves then we can bring Reguillion back to play LB, if Varane stays however then I don’t see the point since we also have Militao.
Isco and Benzema gonna have poor Zidane resetting his ziprecruiter password. Jokes aside. Vinicius is a damn exciting talent. Benzema is a fantastic player and so is Mendy. These 4 guys need to get together, talk about this shit, squash it in public and move on. This could be over by next week or stew for the entire season.
This got kind of lost due to the start of naming other coaches online game, but I agree completely. Not just this, but the (unnecessary) blowing away of money/value of the club: Bale and James were made worthless in transfer value. The players themselves played a part obviously, but by essentially "banning" them from playing you blow away some millions we could have still gotten for them. We had Reguillon who was outperforming Marcelo, yet we get Mendy for circa 50 million. I don't mean Reguillon > Mendy (offensively he clearly is though) but if the plan was to keep Marcelo then it was 50 million which could have been used elsewhere. We spent 100-160 million to get Hazard last season as opposed to this season for free. This was never going to be worth it, but damn if it didn't even get worse by what he (didn't) showed last season. I don't blame him for Jovic, players can not pan out. But I am worrying about a Bale/James scenario where Jovic will be made worthless by not being played at all, and we won't be getting any decent sum for him. That's a couple of hundred of millions that could have been used elsewhere in the squad. And the squad needs it badly. It's easy to say Zidane is making mistakes (I agree with some of those sentiments) but goddamn if this team doesn't need an influx of quality in multiple positions. That's likewise on him and Florentino, but damn he doesn't have a lot to work with these days: and that's also due in big part on the players themselves. Blame can go to a lot of places besides only Zidane. Because even this current team shouldn't lose to goddamn ********ing Cadiz at home.
One could argue that the players that have left are better as a group then the players that have come in
