Dude just stop We are not qualifying for World Cup in Qatar unless we somehow draw the weakest teams from Pots 1 & 2. And even then our chances are minimal at best. Football is not a sport anymore where anything can happen by sheer luck or through a great motivator. You need to build up a system like Iceland have been doing since 2012 which is why they are a game away from qualifying for their third major tournament in a row. Imagine that - Iceland are going to be in 3 major tournaments whilst we have only been in one. You also seem to forget that by the time the World Cup qualifiers are around Dzeko will be a much older player and less physically fit then he is now. Our squad will basically be missing a right back of any decent calibre and probably at least a winger too. Our centre back pairing is still young and both Ahmedhodzic and Dennis will only start to become accomplished by the time 2022 comes around. You seem to overrate the quality of our squad way too much and seem to forget that we were beaten by Northern Ireland and beaten by Poland twice. TBH I am not that too impressed by the results against Italy and Holland as both teams did not look like 100% Come November I fear that they will be a lot more ruthless against us especially the Dutch. It would be silly to use guys like Cipetic, Todorovic & Visca in some vain attempt to qualify for World Cup because we won't. Our team simply is not good enough in terms of overall balance. We will have to wait for our younger players to grow and gain experience internationally hence why qualifying for Euro 2024 needs to be the main goal with WC qualifying being a platform in which we promote and integrate our younger players. Because without them we ain't going anywhere.
Iceland is indeed a good example, population the size of Sarajevo and its suburbs yet they have twice the organisation and mentality we could ever dream of having. That's why they qualified for two tournaments (possibly 3 now) and we only qualified to one.
fun fact about iceland, it's the only country to imprison any bankers that played a role in the 2008 financial crash. I think that speaks volume to their character and transcends to other parts in how they handle things in their society. such a lack of corruption allows them to correctly appropriate their resources and minimize waste, maximizing their performance whether in sports or something else.
I went there once on a 4 day trip, the way they invest in infrastructure and sports is quite impressive to see. I might post some pics in another thread at some point. They have a national pride that I wish we could have.
Holandiji će BiH gostovati 15. novembra, a Italiju će dočekati tri dana poslije (18. novembra) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And it starts again... Savez Napolje!
I wouldn’t mind if we paid for a win against Iran in a friendly, we need to stay in Pot 3 fir WC qualifiers! (joking of course)
Haha if that was actually the thought process it’d be great but the motivations are clearly nefarious.
Looks like Iran friendly will be played by BH league players. Havent watched it in a while so I don’t know who the best are lol
This looks like yet another wasted opportunity. What would be genuinely useful is to have a squad largely made up of players who have already graduated the BiH PL and are now plying their trade in bigger leagues in the same region or beyond. They could do far worse than try these guys out: 1. Hidajet Hankic (Botosani) 2. Hamza Catakovic (Trencin)* 3. Matej Rodin (Cracovia)* 4. Damir Sadikovic (Cracovia)* 5. Kerim Memija (Varadzin)* 6. Darijo Saric (Ascoli)* 7. Rifet Kapic (Sheriff) 8. Aldin Turkes (Lausanne)* 9. Semir Smajlagic (Gorica)* 10. Benjamin Besic (Strasbourg) 11. Pedrag Vlasic (Zlatibor)* 12. Stefan Santrac (FK TSC)* 13. Aleksandar Jovicic (HNK Gorica)* 14. Luka Menalo (HNK Rijeka)* 15. Silvio Ilinkovic (HNK Rijeka)** 16. Stip8 Markovic (Lokomotiva)* 17. Alen Mustafic (FC Nitra)* 18. Mico Kuzmanovic (Celje)* 19. Marko Brkic (Mura)* 20. Nardin Mulahusejnovic (Koper)* *Represented BiH at youth level **Current Bosnia youth international
It would make more sense to me to test out some U21 players rather than play with BiHPL team, of which 99% will probably never play more than 5 games for Bosnia. I at least hope they try out players with some potential, like Djokanović, Salčin, etc. if they’re going to use BiHPL players.
zukanovic retired. remember us discussing his potential on this forum nearly 10 years ago, @PlavoSarajevo was a huge fan of his. time flies https://www.instagram.com/p/CGkBw-EJfaq/
That's true, that's what happened in that infamous friendly against Azerbaidjan during the boycott in 2008. Of the 17 players who featured, only 3 ended up becoming regular members of the team: Buric, Lulic and Pandza.
So far for the Iran friendly these players have been called up: BH League: Almedin Ziljkić Samir Zeljković Amar Rahmanovic Benjamin Tatar Josip Ćorluka Branimir Cipetic (probably, not confirmed) Other leagues: Aldin Turkes

The thing with Demirovic is he can’t play for the u-21 because too many yellows. Idk if that would carry over the the “A” team but yeah I understand what you mean. At least we get to see Hasic
was hoping to see gazibegovic. the u21 coach plays gazibegovic at left-back, leaves dedic on the bench, and plays beganovic at right back. pumped to see hasic
