After the second red, it was over.

Final. Tenerife loses 1-2 to Mirandes, ends with nine, has an own-goal where their keeper pushed the ball in, and Shaq plays 90' with the assist for their lone goal, and providing cover in the middle after the sub DM got a straight red.

i feel like in spain and italy are the leagues that champion use of wingbacks so it becomes so normal as opposed to say the PL which celebrates even mediocre ones.

Outside the EPL England is still wedded to the flat back four, and even there that's the default. Some teams will experiment with wingbacks as a tactical gambit for a specific opponent or because of injuries, but the go back to what they know best, even though 60% of the players and so many of the coaches are foreign .

Another loss. Third in a row. The only reason they're not at the bottom is that the Segunda doesn't keep all teams playing games at the same rate, and while Tenerife has played four already (1 win, 3 losses), the teams below have played 1 to 3 games only (except for Albacete).

And another assist. Second this season. Shaq at the top of the table with other four players for assists (2) so far. He's the only defender in that lot.

High praise from the head coach after another solid performance. He refers to Shaq as one of the best wingers in the Segunda.

Remarkably high praise from a coach. Interestingly, he's describing him as a winger, and one of the best in the division. Since they're recently signed a specialist RB (Georgian international Otar Kakabadze, 25) from a Swiss D1 side, we can expect him to be playing further forward for the rest of the season.

According to @Suyuntuy, who actually watches the games, Shaq has looked much better as winger than right back.

I know he's clearly better as a winger, but they started the season without a specialist RB and Shaq had to fill in there for four of the first five league games. As soon as Kakabadze was available for selection, Shaq was moved forward to RM/RW and that's the pattern we can expect for the rest of the season.

From what I've been told, Kakabadze simply doesn't have the pace, technique or tactical skillset to play further forward: he's a pure RB. Looks to me like

Isn't it pretty rare for guys to move forward at this stage of their career? I mean good on Shaq. He's obviously doing it right but I'm pleasantly surprised.

Yes, rare. But it happens when FB turns into a great crosser. And that what he looks like.

Especially rare when everyone said his touch was garbage and he would never survive in Spain.

honestly a pretty impressive job by this guy to get where he has. It’s great to see!

Some tried to say he was an NCAA level prospect at best.

I'd say it's very rare and even more so at this level. Like DaMarcus Beasley, it's much more common for RWs and LWs to move backwards and become RBs and LBs. What Shaq is doing would be like Antonee Robinson flopping as an LB at Everton and then excelling at LW in the Championship

The guys I can think of that moved up would be Bale and Sessegnon, but both of those moves came earlier in their careers than Shaq.

Interestingly, Shaq Moore was replaced late in the game by ... Samuel Shashoua.

He got an early yellow in a 1-1 draw. According to Fotmob he was playing RB.

Seems like he's one of their key players. Be neat if they can make another promotion push this year.
