Haaland is a first-rate finisher. We will be lucky if half of Reyna's setup passes are kicked within the goal's frame.
With Bellingham, I think it’s obvious why he’s thought of so highly, as he is capable of making very good passes and uses his athleticism well in terms of protecting the ball and defending. He’s still a good bit behind Reyna though in terms of where he is right now. He makes or barely avoids a couple bad plays per game, which you just can’t do in his position. That’s nothing to be ashamed of as a 17 yo but there’s also no guarantee it ever gets ironed out. What sticks out about Reyna is how polished he is. He makes smart passes at the right times, defends intelligently, uses a variety of tricks on the ball to maintain possession, etc etc. his ceiling is also high because he’s still got plenty of athletic potential to tap into. Haaland is basically already there. He’s not at ballon d’or level yet, but there’s also not another striker in the world who you can point to as being clearly better right now.
right. Reyna is playing well, and making good passes to Haaland, but Haaland gets into good positions frequently and finishes at a very high rate. I don’t want to get into comparisons between the two, but although CP isn’t the passer that Reyna is, there’s also no way Giroud or Abraham are finishing like Haaland is.
Basically there? Dude is shaping up to be generational. He’s world class and has the full package. Only thing keeping him from ballon d’or is BVB.
4 assists in 3 league games, noiceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee if he keeps it up, he should be a heavy contender for Young player of the Season
I’m not sure why you’re taking the argumentative tone, as nothing in my post that you quoted disagrees with what you said. I was highly impressed by Haaland in the spring, but that was mostly due to his finishing. Theyve only played a few games this season, but I think he’s taken a step forward with his passing and productively holding the ball up and linking up with teammates. He wasn’t bad at those things last season, but he’s been better this year. If he sustains this level of play, he will go down as an all time great.
I guess that’s what you get when a BVB employee is in charge of color commentary on the world feed lol
In today's game, he totally dove. I've seen it a couple of times in previous games. He's no worse than many offensive players. He's not a Neymar. Germany used to be a league where diving is more rare, but not anymore. It's what I love about Messi. He rarely dives and he's targeted all the time.
he has that trait of composure that pops had .... upside is he is bigger and on a bigger stage at a much younger age. just tremendous upside with Gio.
Haaland and Reyna would be a lethal combination for any of the bigger clubs. I wonder if the likes of Barcelona or Manchester City would try to get both at the same time ?
I was thinking more in line who in our NT can finish those passes that Reyna can do. Is going to be a trial and error period before we find "our" finisher.
He also plays quite well on the wing assuming Reus takes his spot back going forward. Although there were times today they interchanged positions. If he keeps it up he’ll keep his starting spot when Sancho and Hazard are back. Bellingham has been surprisingly good as well. Think there’s any other team in the world that can rival their youthful talent? Youthful being an important part of the question.
He also had another likely assist to Witsel, who skied an easy goal. Really could have been four. And his most impressive play might have been the one on one dribbling he did to create a shot at the top of the box. But he hit it poorly and missed the goal. Still, a couple of centimeters probably from a 1g, 4a game.
Truly not and had forgotten he'd played there tbh. But 18/19/20 year old CP is not Sancho, didn't (and doesn't) have the pricetag, clout, or Q rating of Sancho. It makes neither tactical nor business sense.
