Regardless if we get Sancho or not, this is a bad signing. If Cavani was a serious target he would have been easy to wrap up earlier this summer. We're panicking. If we get Sancho, then Cavani is just getting in the way of Greenwoods development. If we don't get Sancho, Cavani is just an expensive backup to Martial. Either way, this is shit and a clear picture of us not having a plan.
Rate this transfer window out of 10 if we were to sign all of these players pic.twitter.com/RYVLx435nL— Tяυsτ №¹-Yahya™ (@RealistYahz) October 3, 2020 If we were to end with these 4 by Monday, I'll be very happy (with the squad overall having been significantly improved on paper). We need Telles and if he's the player we expect him to be, he'd be another good acquisition, as an alternative/complement to Shaw (who does tend to get injured frequently). But Sancho is still the key and absolutely must be done to consider this a truly positive transfer window.
Agree with you mizzou on Cavani but also agree with sofa. If we get Sancho and Telles, Cavani still makes sense. Otherwise, the knives will be fully out for Woody and Judge. As I said earlier in the window, we needed 5 more players to fill up the squad including 2 additional attackers.
Sancho has to come in now. No more games, no messing. If he doesn't after we spent this money., it's completely indefensible imo. 5 attackers makes sense considering how we play. But without Sancho, this doesn't work at all imo.
Agreed. I will take Dembele on loan (without an obligation to buy) but it is obviously not a unanimous opinion.
Haven't the knives been out for the last 7 years? Nothing has changed. Hell, it's gotten worse - and he's still going to be there, knives or no.
Agree with much of this. However fact is with Ighalo going in a few months we do need a plan B striker who is experienced and a bit different to what we have. Given age, whether Cavani is more a Falcao (waste of time / money / upset to salary structure) or more an Ibra (temporary, dudnt fit style, but at least delivered something) remains to be seen. Sure, better options probably available, but they would have cost a fee which pulls money from elsewhere. So much bigger issue is whether this is as well as RWF, LB/CB or instead of - that is key for me. Something we need, but not the priority. Either addressing one of many needs or distracting from the main ones. I suspect there is an intended plan from Ole, however have long since given up hope of Woody / Glazers delivering on it for any manager My fear is that this is a distraction. As soon as the Sancho transfer started going properly cold thought Woody would look to Cavani as a distraction. We will know in 48 hours or so ...
I think there are positives to this signing in terms of Cavani helping Greenwood and even Martial improve certain aspects of playing the 9. And 1+1 at £200k is not as bad as I thought it was going to be. But also my eyes rolled so far back into my skull that I had to hold my phone to my anus to finish reading Romano's tweet. There's no way we're signing Cavani AND Sancho. Greenwood was the backup 9 if we signed Sancho, we couldn't get him, we couldn't get Chiesa and we doubt we can get Dembele. Ighalo's looking a bit grim since the restart and Jovic was a no. So we're on Plan F. Appropriately.
We need Sancho since the team needs creativity from wider positions. Will be quite terrible if we do not end up addressing it. Looks like we are signing the 18 year old Uruguayan as well.
Uruguay connection for Man Utd. Edinson Cavani deal is going to be completed on next hours after last details ready to be sorted about agents. 🔴🇺🇾#MUFC are also on the verge to sign Facundo Pellistri [2001, Penarol, special talent]. Fee around €10m, as per @SebasGiovanelli.— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) October 3, 2020 Paulo Fonseca, Roma manager, about Chris Smalling deal with #MUFC: "Smalling deal still on? I've only three centre backs... so yes, I need one more. It's clear, we'll see on next 48 hours what is gonna happen". 🟡🔴 #transfers— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) October 3, 2020 Another deal that will likely go down to the wire.
At least, this Pellestri kid looks very good. Penarol and Uruguayan fans rate him very highly, lots of comments comparing his potential favorably to Valverde (RM).
Ed Woodward calculates that Jadon Sancho's desire to return to the Premier League will force Borussia Dortmund to back down on repeated public statements that he is not for sale #mulive [times]— utdreport (@utdreport) October 3, 2020 They'll back down, when he comes up with the money they want. Pretty simple really... #mufc improved their offer for Jadon Sancho last week to €95m plus €15m in performance-related payments #mulive [times]— utdreport (@utdreport) October 3, 2020 There's really no reason, no reason at all for us not to get Sancho. The club can say whatever they want but the money is clearly there if they're making the offers we've heard of in the past days. And if Dortmund say no (as it's probably going to happen) to this latest offer, Woodward better pony up the rest and close that deal because we can only imagine the furor if it turns we missed out on Sancho over 10-15mil...
I will say this... Cavani doesn't scare me or make me mad or give me hope. It is ho-hum. I think theoretically, it makese sense with a caveat. He can't be the only signing in attack. In a sense, it is not too different from the VDB signing. If we have an injury to a key attacker Rashford or Martial, having a replacement of this quality will be good. With no injury, it still means we have a proper option to rotate or change things from the bench. Also, we may have been waiting to see if we could get another striker over the line OR waiting to see if Ighalo made a good start to the season. I understand the concern about the wages/agent fees but I think they are overblown. Cavani is 33 but in a settled team with good creativity he's probably on the wrong side of elite but still very good. If the goal was to ensure that we have a striking option if we have an injury to either Martial or Rashford, then I think we've done that. Regardless of his talent, Mason is not a CF yet. He and Martial probably could stand to learn a thing or two from Cavani about positioning and timing.

Edinson Cavani will be used as an alternative to Anthony Martial. #mufc have wanted a striker to replace Odion Ighalo and hope Cavani can be a leader in the dressing room, helping to develop Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford #mulive [@lauriewhitwell]— utdreport (@utdreport) October 4, 2020 Edinson Cavani was searching for €9m-a-year. Sources at #mufc say his terms will reflect his calibre and track record, but that they will be in line with the club's structure and nowhere near Alexis Sánchez's salary #mulive [@lauriewhitwell]— utdreport (@utdreport) October 4, 2020
https://footballbh.net/2020/07/18/facundo-pellistri-201920-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics/ Looks to be another exciting young prospect in the same vein of Amad Traore and Stevanovic we've missed out on this summer.
According to The Mirror, security will be going up around Ed Woodward's home with the transfer window closing soon, with the club believing Gary Neville's outbursts have been inflammatory and disturbing 😐 Don't think Gary is the cause of the outrage tbh 🇾🇪 #MUFC pic.twitter.com/3TQ2FRuSD3— Stretford Paddock (@StretfordPaddck) October 4, 2020
