I think someone else made the very astute point that he seemed to excel against the Jong teams last year, but struggled a bit against the teams that weren't reserve teams. I would watch that space (performance against full professional teams) to see when he gets to be promoted. I think the club clearly rates him.

That would be me. He struggled w/ the physicality & needed to get rid of the ball quickly. Couldn't ride a challenge. Impeded his creativy.

When he arrived at Jong PSV, his teammates gave him a hard time for being chubby. He was sort of skinny fat.

He's gotten somewhat leaner & stronger over time. This has helped him compete against men more often. Saw it in preseason.

Now may still need to display it w/ the reserves. A goal against rivals Eindhoven is a start, not a finish.

  3. Very much!!
You can't start becoming ready when the coach tells you to warm up and hit the pitch.
You have to be ready all the time, so when the coach tells you to warm up you hit the ground running.

We have our first taste of fixture congestion - Europa League qualifying @ Mura (Slovenia) on Thursday, then back in Eredivisie action @ Heracles on Sunday.

Might a first-team opportunity open up in one game or the other?

    {Jong PSV play @ NAC on Saturday.}

running low on strikers mean false 9 back up. ledezma inclusion is progressing. not implying he’ll be a false 9 btw. others will. hopefully anyway

Would one of the midfielders move inside opening up a spot for Ledezma?

I assume each will be moved when they actually get league minutes for the 1st team. At this point I don't think any of them have that yet. To me Konrad is the most exciting given the team... so I would root for him to graduate first. I am not even sure Uly is with his team yet.?.?

    yes, that's the assumption

seems like Uly is in Herenveen, but probably not likely to be in the team for another week or 2 at least. I think Uly will get the most time this season (barring loans for KDLF and Richie), but for Konrad and Richie, their debuts are a matter of being on the bench in the right game (blowout or injury-forced sub) at this point.

I think it's obvious Llanez is going to get first team opportunities and probably soon. Ledesma doesn't seem that close to an Eredivisie debut. Konrad might sneak in a La Liga game but the obvious choice is Llanez. He was brought to Heerenveen to contribute to the first team this season.

Assuming his current knock is minor, it kind of depends on whether his recent performance is due to a good run of form or a real step up in ability. If he keeps on averaging 1 g+a per game while wearing the armband, in a month or two it'll be fair to ask what else he needs to prove. If not to make the first team, to at least deserve a loan.

Ledezma not in the 18 for Jong PSV. Is this an injury or a promotion?

    Soto starting for Telstar fwiw.

  15. Probably on the bench against Fortuna as midfielder Ryan Thomas most likely is out due to an injury, so a midfielder had to be added to keep the sub possibilities intact.

Wow, PSV only had 6 players on the bench today and Richie wasn't one of them.

I assume he mustn't have recovered from the ankle injury.

  19. Guess that's the reason, as I can't see why not have an extra midfielder on the bench with only 6 subs sitting there. I would expect to see at least 9 players on the bench. Weird.

  20. The reason why they had so few players on the bench turns out to be caused by corona test results not in in time for 4 Young PSV players coach Schmidt wanted on the bench. The players who's tests werenot in time were Luis Felipe, Justin de Haas, Shurandy Sambo, Emmanuel Matuta, Richard Ledezma and Ismael Saibari.

Dutch lab technicians clearly are plotting to stop the growth of American soccer!

Obviously, they are are still angry about Sergino Dest.

  23. Afaik they use a German lab. The Dutch labs are overloaded.

Never a bad idea to link to the real source.

Pet peeve of mine: when citing another' journalist's work, don't put a link to the source of your main tweet in a separate, follow up tweet that only gets a fraction of the reads/likes/retweets. Put the "link" in the main tweet or quote the other site's tweet. It's for this reason I will never follow or have anything to do with "USMNT ONLY." I've lost so many clicks to them. It's too bad some of the newer sites are taking that bad approach.

Anyway, here is the real source to that story.
