Yes. He's been fine. That 3rd goal is Mitrovic's fault for screwing up the offside line. Ream also picked pocket of Grealish in the box when he could have had easy shot at goal. Also on 3 on 1 breakaway Watkins tried to head it over Ream to Villa player who would have been in on goal but Ream read it well and intercepted the pass by using his head.
The third is on both Ream and Mitro with Mitro playing Mings onside and Ream just not being athletic enough to keep up. Ream was fine today, but overall the defense is shit. Odoi doesn't belong near a roster in the prem and Hector has looked poor since the first match. Ream could potentially do an ok job if he had a solid CB beside him. The combination of Center Backs available are just not up to par and Fulham has had 4 transfer windows to address this at this point.
Fulham have to buy TWO center backs to have any hope of survival. Joe Bryan is the only premier league level player on their back line right now. Theyll probably have to sell him too to fund any rhetorical defensive upgrades. That said, Leicester are apparently willing to pay a pretty penny for Bryan and are very high on him to replace chillwell. Naturally, that would bode well for Jedi too.
Decent premier quality CB’s don’t come cheap especially when you are trying to convince one to come to a relegation candidate.
Leicester aren't buying Bryan, I don't think they were ever interested. They bought Castagne who will shift to left back once Ricardo is fit. James Justin covers both full back roles.
Encouraging signs from today: Ream made the squad He started the game He finished the game He played decently His two fellow CBs played poorly One of them was subbed out The other got a yellow card (and perhaps deserved a second one) Other encouraging signs: Fulham is actively seeking PL-quality CBs, but such players are in short supply, and Fulham does not seem to be that adept in the transfer market, and time is running out We'll know in a week's time what the competitive landscape looks like.
Depends on what source you use, but if it's the £50,000-per-week quoted in articles about the rumored move to Fulham, that's still only £12.5 million over the course of the whole deal, wages and transfer fee combined. That's just a shade over what they paid for Knockaert in transfer fee alone. When they came up in 2018, they dropped over £100 million on transfers. Even with Covid dealing out a hit on matchday revenue, they've got a lot of money kicking around because of TV deals. £3 million and change, annually, isn't much for any Premier League team. It's definitely not a sum that precludes them from making other signings.
I apologize to @FulhamFC supporters for our performance tonight. We’ve looked to add centre-backs since Wembley, I’m sorry we haven’t yet as 2 got COVID + we lost a Free we thought was close + had another issue with a 4th CB. I promise players in + better efforts from this squad.— Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) September 28, 2020
I've been a Fulham fan since the early days of this millennium, and what is happening there now really hurts. I think Tim is a quality player, but if he's the team's best CB, which he is, Fulham is going down again. I hadn't considered the idea of Miazga. Can't be worse than Odoi, and would be cheap on loan. Worth a shout-out. I'm disappointed that the idiot child Tony Khan hasn't even sneezed in the direction of people like Mark McKenzie, Chris Richards, Erik Palmer-Brown, and that's just some quality Americans who could be (or could have been) available either on loan or permanently. All of them already better than Odoi. Give me an Auston Trusty! Unfortunately, Tony's daddy bought the club for him as a toy, and the kid is screwing it up. Signed, Bitter Fulham Fan
Thats exactly what im frustrated at. We have guys who are good enough to play there, but the WP stuff is just a killer. Miles Robinson seems he would be an improvement to what they have, but cannot cuz WP things.
No he wasnt, he wasnt sure how to react to it or sugar coat it. He looked confused and bewildered as much as he did look angry. All the fixings for instant relegation favorite. With young coaches, they are high risk high reward, but Khan I think unnerved Parker quite a bit there. But in Khan's slightest defense, every novice in the world saw how unhinged the central defense was against Villa. They were completely torn apart. If it provides impetus to find a target and 23 hour days for the scouting department to find some acceptable center backs, it might be an acceptable umph. So long as it is not one of many.
I would like to add my signature to this. He'd completely fail the WP criteria, but an athletic CB like Opara would be a significant upgrade to our defense. Odoi imo looks underwhelming in the championship and downright ludicrous in the prem. I cannot believe he received an extension this off-season.
