In the distant past I shepherded Mrs Scouse and with another couple went off to engerland rented a car and I played tour guide. One outstanding day we pulled into the cathedral square in Lincoln. Church one end, castle at the other, cobbled streets and lots of good atmosphere. Mrs Scouse saw a poster for a classical concert in the cathedral due to start and grabbed 4 tickets. Excellent couple of hours, the Japanese soprano was outstanding. She sang her last aria just as the setting sun shone through the rose window creating the wonderful glow that the medieval architect planned.

We didn’t see any football stadium tho. But I still have fkn plus.

I’ll take a shot at predicting the lineup. 4-2-3-1

    Adrian
    Neco Phillips VDB Tsmikas
    Jones Milner
    Eliott Minamino Jota
    Origi

Doesn’t look bad, I’m not convinced on Nico yet. Perhaps this match will be good for him. If I were the Lincoln manager I’d be looking to get behind him.

This is about right. Only question is at CB. In preseason, it seemed like Koumetio was ahead of VDB in the pecking order and is physically seems much closer to being a first team player, so I suspect Klopp might want to take another look. Depending on the fitness of Gomez he might get thrown in, but Philips has enough experience at this point to lead that line if necessary.

I think Klopp mentioned that he had a knock when explaining why there were no CB’s on the bench against Chelsea.

There are also 4 players for 3 spots against Arsenal. Hendo, Gini, Thiago, and Keita. If Klopp knows which one he’s leaving out for Arsenal, he might start one of them here.

So then Thiago, Keita, Gini in midfield and Fabinho at the back.

If Gomez is fit, I wouldn’t be surprised he starts at right back against Arsenal. I thought we would be done with using him there, but he was great in the 2nd half of the Community Shield in that position. Arsenal’s entire threat is down the left, and Gomez shut down Aubameyang from right back.

Or maybe a good opportunity for the 4-2-3-1?

    TAA ... Gomez ... VvD ... Robertson

    Thiago ... Fabinho

    Mane ... Firmino ... Jota

    Salah

    or

    TAA ... Gomez ... VvD ... Robertson

    Thiago ... Fabinho

    Salah ... Minamino ... Mane

    Firmino

There are quite a few combinations we could consider for the front 4.

really? give up TAA for Gomez? can't see that, too defensive for Klopp. Moaninho would do it in a heartbeat mind you.

Does Shaq still exist? Who knows if he’s fit or not. I don’t think Grujic will still be at the club when the window closes, so I can’t see giving him a game over any of the players above. Pep Lijnders said Koumetio will need a late fitness test to see if he can play.

People shouldn't be upset about this. I know there is sentimentality and you'd like to see a player from youth ranks make it - but I really don't see that he fits the team right now (I stress that). If we get a buy back - that's good for me.

As hobo sad - take 25m and run.

I'm not upset just had high hopes for the lad. On the plus side the development of young talent continues to generate revenue for the club.
