Sigh, why had they to scheduled it on a Monday morning? Oh, well, at least I managed to avoid watching an INAC's slaughtering... I'll just watch these last minutes, hoping that INAC won't embarass themselves more than they already did... It really looks like it's Urawa's year.
I am not going to say it wasn't a penalty, and I am sure there was contact, but she went down so easily.
Yesterday's Beleza's loss to JEF has someone put last week's INAC's win in a different perspective, but anyway, after their win in the "Clasico" I would have expected much more from INAC. On the other hand, Urawa look really solid this season: I do wonder how did they lose to Cerezo. These last minutes don't look very exciting, but I suppose I've already missed the best part of this game.
That build up play and final pass is what makes Samesima such a smart player. Urawa's is very comfortable tracking back in a straight line and have handled anything into the box. Sameshima cuts it back higher up the pitch where there is more space and INAC nearly score. She is such a smart player.
I didn't watch that particular game, but Cerezo move the ball quickly in attack and that creates trouble for most defences.
F.T. Urawa 4 INAC 1 If we had a "most entertaining game of the season"... inho this game would win hands down....great advert for Nadeshiko League footie If you haven't already... watch this game you won't be disappointed.
On the bright side, a Naomoto's celebration is always funny to see. She's been awarded as the MVP of the game. Will she step up with a more prominent role in NT also?
Urawa are already playing with a lot of confidence, so gifting them a goal so early in the match does not help. Urawa played very well today. But INAC made it too easy for them with a very high line that got exploited on numerous occasions. It was partly due to INAC chasing the game, but if you are going to play so high you need to put more pressure on Urawa's midfield. It was a lot more noticeable in the second half. To be honest I thought the first half was pretty even and without the passing blunder (Stambaugh really needs to work on that if she ever wants to be picked by Takakura) a 1-1 score at half-time was more representative of the play. I agree with you about the way INAC move the ball and its lack of pace. I think they were worried about losing the ball and being countered so they didn't want to take too many risks going forward, but when they did take risks they worried Urawa a lot more. Sugita, Sakaguchi and Itou are really skillful players that need to back themselves more rather than just pass it to Iwabuchi and Tanaka and hope they can conjure a goal. But there was also a few times when a quick pass was needed for INAC, but people labored on the ball for too long. I really like Itou, though she needs to do more work off the ball. I am still not sure why Nakajima is not starting. She works so hard off the ball and you need her to apply pressure in midfield. Mizutani for Urawa was really good today. Naomoto also played well with that lovely little flick to set up Sugasawa for the second goal and obviously her finish for the fourth was brilliant. But she can play like that because she is supported by Shibata in midfield who does a lot more of the hard work. Urawa have some really nice players who are fast and it worries even very good teams. But I really like Takahashi, because she is strong and skillful. Well done to Urawa who thoroughly deserved the win.
So Gert Engels - Bundesliga in the 70s; coach for Mozambique; who apparently gas played in Japan - is he trying to implement a more European style game, rather than building on the style Japan is known for? I have not watched the games lately, but from what I am ready here, the guy may not be the right choice....
3 points - Naomoto vs. Inac 2 points - Sugita vs. Urawa 1 point - Sugasawa (2) vs. Inac Three of the same game
My choice: 1) Hikaru Naomoto in Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies vs INAC Kobe Leonessa (she was left too much free to hit the ball, but the shot was anyway excellent. I dare to say it was since the times of U-20 WWC 2012 that Naomoto wasn't scoring such beauties ). 2) Yuika Sugasawa's 2nd goal in Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies vs INAC Kobe Leonessa (good finishing: did she ripped it off from Hasegawa's handbook? ) 3) Yui Narumiya in Nippon TV Tokyo Verdy Beleza vs JEF United Ichihara Chiba Ladies (I liked a lot JEF's #2's preparation and cross: she's some Fujishiro, apparently, that I didn't know; and Narumiya's header was very well placed. It helps that it was the decider of a so important upset. Fun-points for the hug between Yamane and Narumiya at the end of the match: talk about height difference ).
Goal of the week contest. Choose three best goals from each round and award it with points: the best - 3pts 2nd best - 2pts 3rd best - 1pts 10th round highlights (it's 11th round schedule) My pick: 1. Narumiya vs. Beleza 2. Sugita vs. Urawa 3. Naomoto vs. INAC Current standings: Naomoto..............10 pts Sugasawa (2).......5 pts Narumiya..............4 pts Sugita...................4 pts Kitamura...............1 pt voted by: KAPIJXM, blissett, unepommekun, Lechus7
⬤ WK-League: There's a crucial match today, Thursday, but first, the obligatory one from Monday - with all four Japanese players in the starting lineups Changnyeong WFC (29 Aya Shimojo, 24 Nanase Kiryu) v Hwacheon KSPO (14 Yoshimi Natsuki, 33 Fumina Katsurama) Full match: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nae6GXSaDyI A night to forget for Yoshimi Natsuki, and not only due to the disappointing result. She played until half-time and was substituted out, after she got a yellow card in the 37th minute. Natsuki had been the deputy captain at Hwacheon for months; the main captain Lee Soo-bin has returned now. In 2nd place, things keep getting better for Gyeongju, who have won 7 games in a row for the first time - symbolically beating every other team in the league. Asuna Tanaka scored on Monday in their 3-1 win at Boeun. The previous week, it was Nanase Kiryu who found the back of the net against the army club on Sep 14. She scored the 1st goal and 3rd goal here, in a game unfortunately memorable for a ref error and a lot of yelling. Boeun 0 - 3 Changnyeong WFC www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8XyZ05khnk&t=2m58s Suwon are sitting in the 3rd playoff place, and won on Monday. Madoka Haji missed the previous game last week, and she blogged about that topic: 怪我と私 Injury and me - (MadokaHaji.com) Hwacheon (4th) are in the last-chance saloon now - behind by 4 points in the playoff chase, and only 5 games remain. They really need to win today - but the club of Katsurama and Natsuki are facing Asuna Tanaka's team (2nd), who are seeking their eighth win in a row. Hwacheon KSPO v Gyeongju KHNP - (09:00 GMT, 18:00 JST) www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA7x_ABPgGI
