To some extent, I don't think this is a personnel problem but rather a tactical one. James would have played and operated in the position that Martin did and faced the same issues when he was playing here. He gets the ball when the defense has already set up into a compact block and has no time to do anything but pass the ball to the side or back.

Modric rarely drives forward nowadays, and Kroos has always been more of a tempo player. This worked when we had Ronaldo (plus Bale or James adding to the tally) who scored 50 per season. We will be forced to change personnel in the midfield if our wingers maintain their scoring records.

 

You can't play with a 10 in this team. It's useless. We don't have a striker upfront. We have benzema who play in a 10, 7, 9, 11 position.

 

If we moved the ball as slowly as we did in the first game then yes absolutely, every player taking 3 or 4 touches everytime is too slow, but we both acknowledged this while watching the game

Benzema does whatever the f he wants on the pitch. He plays whatever position he wants and he got a free pass from Zidane.
it will only change when/if we sign a galactico that is a true 9, lets a signing in the lewandowski level. Any other player, benzema will play (as long as he is fit) in whatever role he wants.

 

I am not understanding this criticism of Benzema. Without him we don't win the league, as simple as that. He has been the sole goalscorer consistently. What's there to blame on him.
It's on Zidane. He thinks we can go a season with Benzema as the sole option. Doesn't even think of a probable long injury. That's poor planning, nothing else

It might not be his fault, but People expect the main striker of Real Madrid to fight for the Pichichi. Raul won it, Ronaldo and Ruud won it, Cristiano took it to another level.
