Guess he’ll have to adapt to the faster pace ... I wish he’d gone to Barca rather than PSG when he had the choice ..
After this game, we might not see CHO again. He's been horrible, doubt he stays on the pitch for 90 min.
same ol chelsea, they have better players so the scoreline flatters against this type of competition. they couldve given up 2-3 in the first half pretty easily. caballero played well.
Getting Mount, Tammy, and Havertz going isn't necessarily a bad thing. How does Thiago look when called upon, is the most pertinent question IMO. Does he even have enough to do in this kind of match to approach "playing well".
This Chelsea defense is still a problem. A bottom Championship team is still able to have 14 shots against them, with 9 on targets. It's a miracle they didn't score. I am not convinced Lamp can fix this defense. This team will score lots of goals, but will also let in lots of goals; no difference than last season.
Note the post-2019 Christmas break Pulisic who's increased muscle mass was evident and noted by many on this thread. I will further note the greater incidence of muscular injury due to "issues" of this kind.
Tammy and Havertz had some nice chemistry going tonight. Lampard better recognize that and try to carry it over into league play. I don't know who gets dropped but Tammy deserves a start in the league based on tonight.
I was happy to see Pulisic bulked up as he was subject to getting shoved around. One cause for pulling a hammy is where a player's quads are stronger than the hamstring. Or, you can pull a quad if your hamstrings are stronger than the quad. Not saying that is what happened to him but it isn't all about flexibility.
The score definitely flattered Chelsea. Saw an article where FL was lauding Kai who did have a good game let’s not forget that it’s Barnsley. That said, Barnsley’s midfield took it to Chelsea for large stretches of the match. Granted that it’s early and they’re awaiting the return of two key attackers and a new keeper but Franks strategy looks predictable to me.
If Frank get Timo Kai Tammy and CP on the field, this is going to be some fun stuff to see. They have enough attack that if Frank can't get the midfield sorted they ought to just hit it long, not very many teams in the world have enough to cover two or three of that group running onto a ball. I think good news for CFC is that Kante is looking more like Kante. I do not see the value that Jorgi brings. I suppose if given time he can hit a long pass that Kane might not hit but if my aunt had balls she would my uncle. I like the idea of a back four of Chillwell, Tomori, Thiago, James with Kova and Kante in front of them and Kova can get forward some. Gilmour will be missed until he gets back in training. I can't find a spot in the best eleven for Mount unless he could play Kova's spot. Man I want to see Puli with these guys.
It kind of is when it comes to sports medicine. Think about how European soccer clubs and players marvel at the facilities in the US. I remember Mourinho being amazed at the under water treadmills he saw in LA or somewhere like 10 years ago. He immediately ordered them for his club at the time.
To back him up here, you have to look at the labor markets and the commitment ownership makes to its players. America is essentially the most talented league on the planet in baseball, basketball, football, and hockey. Now what happens when there is one undisputed top league? It gets ALL the talent. When two of those leagues give out fully automatic contracts? It means that teams really do have a super big financial investment in keeping guys healthy. And because of the draft/free agency model, teams are negatively incentivized with just plugging a hole with money. They've gotta keep that Starting Pitcher's arm right for the playoffs. They've gotta keep the starting wide receiver's leg pain free to get through that tough stretch of schedule. Soccer by comparison is the most overflooded labor market in sport. Combined with talent being more spread out amongst the leagues, the response to injuries has always been well have a bigger squad. So essentially US sports medicine has had decades of investment in numerous different sports that US Soccer can benefit from. Combined with how many of our young athletes are shredding ligaments on field turf.... And you get the top sport science industry in the world.
In a game where they won 6-0, as an attacker he was a non factor. Too many times he took the ball and ran into dead ends. He did not make a case for more minutes today.
A decent performance against Barnsley and they already want to drop Pulisic and start Tammy upfront with Werner on the left. These Chelsea supporters can't see beyond the game of the moment. As I said before, and I'll say it again; Tammy is not EPL top 4 or CL quality at this moment. Maybe he can get there in a few years, but he's not quite there yet.
If Miazga is smart, he should ask for a transfer. He has no future at Chelsea. Even a German International defender can't find a regular spot at this Chelsea.
You need to get off Twitter bro. Too many trolls. Go check the Chelsea forum here and you’ll get a different perspective. Most are english too. There’s def games where Timo needs to be pushed wide for Tammy or Giroud. That doesn’t mean Pulisic is benched. He’d move to RW. Kai stays as a 10. Then Frank would need to pick Mount or Kova to pair with Kante.
That's me. I'm an Evertonian since the Tim Howard days. [Also loved it when Donovan went on loan to Everton a couple of times. Chants of U-S-A when Donovan took corners - great stuff!] The only reason I'm here in this thread because I'm a CP fan...
