It’s $5 per month with ads and $10 per month without ads. The annual plans are $50 with ads and $100 without ads. Cox and Comcast subscribers can get the with ads for free. (But at least when I added it, there was no option for an annual without ads discount if you get with ads for free through Comcast.)

But again, what does "no ads" look like? Seems to me that it only helps if you watch Peacock for the non-sports content. Halftime is still 15 minutes no matter what sort of subscription you get on Peacock.

So...it depends if someone is a fan of general NBC stuff OR they want all the other niche sports if they should get Peacock or NBCSN Gold.

Is that a good way to put it?

I agree. I don't think they put ads in the middle of the game if you don't have the no ads version. I just bought the no ads version in case I (or anyone else in the household) watches anything other than PL. I haven't watched anything outside the first night that I was just browsing the content, but my kids watch "Get Out of My Room." That's not a recommendation.

Gold was always separate passes depending on the sports you watched. It was not "subscribe to gold," but rather "subscribe to Premier League Pass on NBC Gold." So if you want the other niche sports you'd have to subscribe to the pass for each sport. (There's Rugby Pass, Lacrosse Pass, Track Pass, Indycar pass, etc. You need to subscribe to each individually.) The price has not changed. The fact that you have to subscribe to each individual sport has not changed. The only minor inconvenience is that football is now on separate app than the other sports.

Right, it's not like you're getting extra Rebecca Lowe side content when their studio is kicking it to commercial in the pregame.

I've been doing the cord cutting thing for a couple of years now.

I don't really have a team that I follow. I am more into the storylines and drama in the leagues: check out whatever big matchup/derby is happening that weekend in one of the Big 5 leagues. I am also interested in the US players in Europe.

I only have so much time for football, so the last couple of seasons I could usually count on three EPL games per weekend OTA (NBC & Telemundo), every few weeks a big Bundesliga game on FOX, plus Champions League on Univision and the occasional download of a game from a "sharing" site. That kept me busy enough.

Who knows what Peacock will bring, but last weekend with NO OTA games was not a good sign.

This year--for the first time--just subscribed to ESPN+. With the Bundesliga now there, it was a no-brainer. I also like the Championship (fond memories from the BeIn days) and Serie A.

I am probably going to pay a bunch more attention to Bundesliga, the Championship, Serie A, and even the Eredivise now since most games will be at my fingertips. This will be at the expense of the EPL. I will probably spend the $10 to subscribe to CBS again for the group stage of Champions League and Europa League.

Maybe I'll bite the bullet and pay for the EPL, but I think there is enough other content to keep me happy.

I think "no ads" refers to their archived TV shows. I watch the Chicago shows and the late-night stuff. Without ads, I can watch those shows without having to sit through the ads. How fast they'll go up remains to be seen. Will it be quickly after the show ends or next day?

I know I'll be able to watch the late-night shows early once that gets started up. I don't think I can watch primetime shows early, though.

I am not seeing any commercials during this Wolves x Man City match. I just get a message on screen about coverage resuming shortly whenever there is a break. I am on the 7-day free trial.

Yeah, I logged onto NBC Gold and it was still there. I looked into Peacock till I found the 2nd small fee. Also, maybe I would have broken down and paid the $6 for Peacock, but the link failed.
I also pay a small fee for espn+, kind of like that one, but I really don't watch tv/internet 24/7.

Is it too hard to ask for one unified NBC app?

    1) Download.
    2) Log in via authorized credentials.
    3) Stream whatever NBC-owned channels like MSNBC, CNBC, USA, Telemundo, Bravo, regular broadcast NBC, etc.
    4) Also get Peacock stuff on there.

It would sure be nice to clean up my Roku menu.

Yep, or at least do it like Disney where even though ABC has some separate app, sports on ABC can also be streamed through the ESPN app.

Or at least one unified NBC Sports app? Like they've had on Roku, since they got rid of the separate Gold app a year or two ago?

NBC for regular primetime shows with the commercials.
NBC News for their news operation.
Peacock for commercial-free primetime shows, exclusive content and Peacock Sports for authorized users.
NBC Sports for streaming access to NBCSN and Peacock sports for those users?

    Or:
NBC for regular shows with commercials.
NBC News for their news operation (including CNBC and MSNBC)
NBC Sports for streaming access to NBCSN.

Peacock access could either be a separate app OR tied in to NBC and NBC Sports. You'd download NBC and then watch primetime shows with your Peacock credentials. You could also see Peacock exclusive stuff as a tab in the NBC/NBC Sports app.

Today is the first time that my team is on Peacock Premium. So today is the day I'm going to bite the bullet.

So when I sign up for the 'Cock ;) can I link it to my previous credentials for NBC/Gold? Or do I have to make a new account? (yet another web/streaming account to manage?)

Apologies if this is a kinda lazy question, but I was hoping one of you has already gone down this path and knows the answer quickly. If not, I'll just see when I get around to it later today.

    Thx.

Edit: From some googling for FAQ's as well as attempting (and failing) to use Peacock's "forgot my password" on the email addresses I use for previous NBC/Gold accounts, it appears that you have to create a new account to get the Cock. So that makes now 3 different logins/portals I now have, in order to stream sports from NBC. Excellent... fragmentation, even within one provider.

Edit2: When I input my credit card I saw promo code field and I wondered if there were in fact any promo code that could lower the cost of Premium or maybe make Plus the same price as Premium. I'll assume the answers are "no" unless someone else knows differently.

Well credit to peacock. They finally incorporated fast forward, pause, rewind, for replays.

and also, they don’t show the scores ( cough cough ESPN+) when you are trying to access a replay..

    the spoilers drive me nuts..

As I look at this morning's lineup on NBCSN, can someone please explain to me the wisdom in their programming decisions?

    This morning (in Eastern Time):
    6:00 PL World
    6:30 PL Preview
    7:00 Mecum Auto
    7:30 Monster Jam
    8:30 Monster Jam

    9:30 PL Mornings
    9:55 PL Soccer (EFC-BHAFC)
    12:00 PL Mornings
12:30 PL Soccer (LUFC-MCFC) on NBC

Clearly the 7:00-9:30 slot, where they usually cover the Saturday 7:30 KO game, they are filling with some junk re-run shows. And today's 7:30 match was a pretty big London Derby of CFC-CPFC, which they pushed to Peacock.

Sure, I get how they're trying to shift eyeballs from cable to streaming, but to do it like this exposes such a glaring, jarring hole in what has always been excellent contiguous coverage of the most important match day of the week.

Normally I would've zipped through that 7:30 game on my DVR using it's unparalleled FFWD capabilities, but not today. Peacock, and any other current streaming platform, is just not easy, fluid or capable enough to get me to do that like I've always done w/ my DVR. Sad.

Although maybe some day I'll thank NBC for weaning me off of my EPL addiction. ;) As I find myself watching less and less of it because of the "friction" imposed by streaming.

Edit: I looked at the fixture schedule for this weekend and have reached the conclusion that NBC's goal was to "drop" 3 matches from NBCSN and they chose the 7:30AM SAT, 3PM SAT & 7AM SUN slots. I guess the reasoning is that those are the farthest outside of what one might consider "prime time" for maximum viewers. But please feel free to correct me.

Yeah, pretty much this. I used to like Fox because they were all soccer all the time, with replays and news shows. NBC was pretty good, but not as good. Now games are stuffed in various obscure places, and I'm not even quite sure what's happening when (let alone where). If I was that interested, I could figure it out, I'm just not that interested anymore.

I am curious if there is a number on the number of subscribers that pay for Peacock. Same with NBC Gold last year.

I wonder if moves like this aren't giving them more subscribers to Peacock, but rather just turn people off to the EPL or force people to search for alternative ways to watch.

I follow Arsenal but I would always watch other EPL games. Since the shift to Peacock, I just don't anymore.

It's a shame. I think they are going to just turn people off to the EPL alltogether.

Watching AFC-SUFC on Peacock right now. They're using the IMG International Feed production, which I like. But during the HT break, for some reason NBC decides to throw up the "Coverage Will Resume Shortly" screen at some times randomly, instead of just letting the feed content play. <scratches head>

Edit: and then at FT, I think they allowed for literally 5-10 seconds after the final whistle/scoreline and then up came the "Coverage concluded" graphic. Literally zero post-match coverage... no comments, no highlights, no stats, no nothing. Why????

    off the purple line
First a question and then some comments to add to the discussion above.

I subbed to Peacock and am using Roku. I go to the Sports tool bar option and scroll to EPL replays but that list is short even though the games are up for 20 days or something like that. Am I missing some other place where all games are listed in order that go back for 20 days? I had to use search to find Arsenal-Sheffield UTD.

I had been using another option to d/l games but the thieves that run the site kept blocking my account. Luckily I was able to get a refund for my remaining premium days since they used a third party pay provider. I figured that refund paid for 1/5 of Peacock and I can watch when I want. I went with the year plan because that plan basically includes some free months.

Some folks asked about commercials. There are no commercials during the games. Some games have pre-game, half-time, and post-game with Rebecca and the dudes. Others have no pre-game at all (no lineups, nothing) and the on demand content starts with the BLM kneeling followed by the kick-off. You can fast forward through the half-time, which NorthBank notes, is just a logo on the screen. Personally, I don't care. I never watch pre-game, half-time, or post-game. I only care about the games. So, I'm digging this. Finally, they add games that air on NBCSN after some set period of time. I still have DTV so I set my DVR for content on NBCSN and NBC and use Peacock for other games. It's fine.

I posted earlier that I was pissed about this setup because we basically have to pay for two services, but maybe that's not the case if you can wait to watch on delay. I changed my DTV plan and canceled En Espanol to free up money. At this point EPL is really the only competitive top flight league so for me it's worth it. Juve will win Serie A, Bayern will win Bundesliga, PSG will win Ligue 1, and Realcelona will win La Liga. City will probably win the EPL but I can't put that guarantee in my list as I did with those other leagues, so it's worth the $49 for the year.
