Yeah, it's describing a temporary condition. And Pirlo mentioned post game that Wes' fitness is "better than the others" because of the training he already had in Germany.
per Google Translate: un cult istantaneo per i tifosi, che adorano chi lotta ed e sveglio: ruba palla per la traversa di CR7 ed e il pu reattivo nell'azione del 2-0. Chiude a destra: jolly. an instant cult for the fans, who adore those who fight and are awake: he steals the ball for the crossbar of CR7 and is the reactive player in the 2-0 action. Closes on the right: jolly. Could @Eighteen Alpha or someone who knows Italian tidy this up, especially the last sentence: "Closes on the right: jolly." is meaningless
I don’t know if you’ll be a regular starter. I do know that the three sets of player ratings I read for the match all rated his performance highly. This notion that enthusiasm about steps forward by young Americans needs to be tamped down here every time it is expressed gets annoying.
man, google translate is just barely this side of alta vista, huh? woulda thought that technology would have advanced more by now...
I know ive said it before but I do honestly believe by seasons end Wes will be viewed more favorably at Juve than Arthur will be. Now obviously two different types of players, but the grit Wes brings is going to buy him a lot of leeway.
He looked good. Over time, I've learned that Wes is the type of player that consistently surprises you. My guess is that he is going to become a much much more refined player from this experience, and eventually will bring more to the table than just his work rate and grit. I think he is in the absolute perfect situation now. He is also one of those guys that really has a nose for the goal when he gets into the box. He almost scored twice today and that is not an aberration. For a non forward, the Dude scored quite a bit in the Bund on a crappy team, and he has also done it with the Nats as well. With he amount of time Juve is going to spend in the opponents third, I wouldn't be surprised if Wes gets his share of goals this season.
Fortunately, McKennie now has the qualifications to make it at Southampton. I think Bigsoccer missed this controversy because I decided not to post anything at the time it happened, but Southampton's correspondent for the Athletic tweeted some really cringeworthy stuff about McKennie when they were linked this summer. It caught some attention on Reddit's soccer forum.
Thanks, glad I missed it. I think McKennie's in a great spot right now. I'm confident he'll work hard and make the most of his opportunities. My main concern of course would be injuries, from reckless play (sometimes), but that's less of a concern at Juventus (than at Schalke) because there's much less need to 'do it all himself.'
If only we had known: Joker's Wild: Weston McKennie at Juventus (loan fr. Schalke) The Jolly Rancher: Weston McKennie at Juventus (loan fr. Schalke)
I had no problem with any of your posts. I said he had a good game. I also think it was a game that didn't prove much, given the competition and what he executed. In particular, his passing wasn't nearly as on point as one might want. I don't mind if anyone disagrees, but I don't there's a whole wave of folks who apparently need to pretend Weston McKennie is great at everything. What I don't think people realize is that this game -- what we're watching -- is much easier in terms of difficulty than what we were seeing Weston do at Schalke. Sampdoria is not a good Serie A squad. Juventus, though down a bit, are much more talented than Schalke. He was given a limited role and executed it well. Weston's challenge will come against Inter and Atalanta and so on and in Champions League. And he's got a lot of competition. His coach values what he's good at, but even Pirlo said he needs to clean some of that build up up. This shouldn't be nearly so controversial. My choices shouldn't be "Weston is perfect and we are blessed" and "Weston is terrible, Marky Delgado should start over him."
Who said enthusiasm needs to be tamped down? If you are talking about me, I merely analyzed his game. I haven't seen any posts saying stop being excited. Just people expressing their own opinion on his performance.
Yeah, the dude was super snarky and dismissive. He looks like an ass now. Basically, he said that the Southampton rumor has two issues: one was that there wasn't any basis for it (or something like that) and the other was that McKennie wasn't a very good player. When someone commented that McKennie was good at things without the ball, he commented that he wasn't even good at those. I don't mind people being wrong. But if you are snarky and wrong, you deserve all the shit you get.
Un aggettivo per l'esordio in ⚫️⚪️ di @WMckennie? pic.twitter.com/dFI5AXzFSi— JuventusFC (@juventusfc) September 21, 2020 here’s a good indication of how Italian Juve fans see McKennie.
Wes is the new a Michael Bradley, who was the new Claudio Reyna. There is no basis for it, but US Soccer fans are know-it-all’s when it comes to midfield generals. Wes is on quite a trajectory and there is really no need to continue talking down his every accomplishment. Dude was ranked higher than Christiano Ronaldo and most of his other teammates in his first game with Juventus. Enjoy it and forget about the US player behind him in the roster who you’d rather see get an opportunity. Because at this point Wes is a lock starter and that’s unlikely to change.
That's not true at all. There's no basis for this statement. Literally one person doesn't have McKennie in their Best XI. I'm sorry that you can process normal criticism without assuming that any critical comment means that people are hate McKennie, or think he shouldn't play for the US or whatever, but literally no one has said any of that in this thread.
