I love this team. I love that we have a team that's capable of winning games in different ways. This wasn't a work of art. We didn't really possess the ball all that well or create bucketloads of chances. But we turned two plays into goals and slammed the door defensively. This is why we're a serious contender, and LAFC, for all the drool they get, isn't one. Because when you can defend well, you can turn those borderline performances that would be ties into wins, and sub-par performances that should be losses into ties.
And without Nagbe. And with <30 min of Zela. But to repeat something hang has discussed, we haven’t played top shelf competition. The upcoming match against the Syrup Guzzlers will be the most telling of how good this squad is.
Disagree. Not on the level of competition we've played, but on the Syrup Guzzlers. Toronto has played a lot of games against the other Canada teams, and they only squeaked out a 2-2 tie against DC tonight. I'm not convinced they're raising the bar for our strength of schedule all that much.
I'm sure LAFC will lose by two. (It's a joke. I have no idea who they play next, now, earlier today, whenever.)
I think Seattle and the Union would disagree with that. Maybe even NYCFC as they're creeping back up the standings.
Well gosh why would we be? There were six of nine other games played and news of Kei Kamara being traded to his 8th MLS team and Toronto FC participating in Canadian Championship final; all of greater importance.

Philly is top level competition and better than anything coming out of the West, right now. Right now the Crew’s consistency, especially on defense puts them a step up on anyone in the league. Nashville had more possession, but could only manage a shot on goal and wasn’t dangerous. The center of the field was no mans land. Nashville had no coherent plan in the final third, which life so much easier for Room on those occasions when he is called upon. Minnesota might be tough, but the Crew have grown since what I thought was fluke loss in the bubble and they have the confidence and commitment to execute the game plan.
OK so I dont get the deal with Caleb Porters post game interviews. First, they have him sitting on front of a cheap, badly hung black curtain of some sort. If you didn't know better you'd swear it was a terrorist hostage video filmed in a Beirut basement. We know the team has several of those logo/sponsor backdrops that every team on Earth uses. So why did they send someone over to Walmart to buy a few yards of plain black polyester? It just looks tacky, amateurish and cheezy. Second, why is he wearing a mask to talk to reporters over the internet? It makes it hard to understand him and looks ridiculous after seeing him on the sidelines without one for 2 hours. I watched the US Open a bunch yesterday and they managed to conduct interviews just fine. They placed a microphone, had the interviewer standing back away from him and talked. Other sports are doing it as well. Are they making some point? If so what would it be?
That was a nice win last night. Glad to see Keita back on the field and Lucas too. We probably should have had a goal in the first half but Pedro picked us up early in the 2nd and Gyasi slammed the door closed. That was a great all round game from Zardes. The steal and drive to set up the first goal and clever finish on the second. He's our indispensable man, more so than Nagbe or Zelarayan. Nashville is actually a pretty good expansion team. They were unbeaten in 4 coming in. Looking ahead, the Loons will probably be more of a challenge than TFC.
