No. And leaving aside the fact that a bad tie against a bad Chicago team alone would not alone deter an unbeaten quest, I think there is pretty wide gulf between expecting an undefeated season and expecting a top of the league Columbus Crew to defeat a terrible Chicago team. Deep down inside I think you and many others also recognize that gulf and are disappointed as well in tonight’s result. It’s okay to feel that way. It shows increased expectations that come with supporting a team that has eyes on multiple trophies. I embrace the mentality of supporting a top of the league team and the expectations that come along with it.
Played without Nagbe and Zelayaran, both injured. That's two key guys in the lineup going down the spine. They're also the top two options at the 10 it seems so Santos is now your third choice coming in. I prefer to think about the few crosses/passes that seemed to ping around the Chicago box and never land on a Crew player's foot. I prefer to think that other teams might not have found the fight to come back from two down late in the match, specifically after Mensah was robbed point blank. And I still see that we're top of the table with 24 points as we approach the next part of the schedule.
I’m a Roma and Benfica supporter. I’m familiar with teams I support dropping points against far lesser teams than them. In those cases as well, it’s a bad result. This isn’t some anti Crew bias. It’s about expectations of supporting a good team.
I agree it's not the best result; even a bad result, but you'll have these over the 34, I mean, 23 games in a season. Again, it dropped our ppg average down to 2.4 per game instead of 2.6.
I agree. I sad it’s a bad result based on what we know and expect of the team. And you, and many others seemingly agree. I think you have more of a problem with the messenger than the message. But, I have broad shoulders, and a huge heart that pumps black and gold blood through my veins. I can handle it.
I just want to say that if coping with the radio/ TV delay sync issue is the price I have to pay in order to watch a game with Doran doing PBP and Angeli doing color, then I'll take it all day long. That was the most professional Crewcast in ten years at least. Maybe 20. Sika was in the booth but said very little because he had nothing to contribute. The other two were calling the game, and there was no room for whatever it is Sika does.
Here's my mentality: I've never called this franchise "garbage" because every franchise loses or ties or struggles. Garbage is shit, and I do not support shit.
My sister-in-law and her boyfriend were in from Houston last week. Both are healthy vegans. We discussed cooking a lot during the visit. They eat a lot of quinoa. And I acknowledge it is healthier than white rice. But good golly miss molly, I love jasmine rice.
Not so much familiar with, just getting perpetually more exhausted by the constant gnashing of teeth. Oh, and, uh, I really don't like Sportsfans©.
I have a problem with the focus the messenger is putting on one game out of 23. We've had two bad results in the first half of the season. This one and the scoreless draw against KFC. That means we've had some really good ones too. A draw in Seattle. A win at home against the Union. It all evens out and good teams will have many more good than bad results so I'm not sweating it.
We had a quinoa salad with dried cranberries and roasted pistachios with some broiled chicken breasts on Thursday. Having my daughter live with us has given us the motivation to get some menu variety into the kitchen.
I'll have to go back to the Union game thread to see how you sang high praises on a well deserved victory.
I said at the time, not our best performance of the season, but BY FAR, our best win. I think that’s accurate.
I went through a cycle of emotions today--upset and disappointed with the play at first, excited by the comeback, and finally accepting of the point. With the comeback, it's not quite as "bad" a point as the other way around would have been (letting the other guys come back late).
This team is fine. They played 20 minutes of flat footy and then turned it up and almost stole all the points on the road. I give Chicago some credit for going all out and keeping the Crew off balance.Chicago got punished once they moved away from it. The defensive breakdowns are an exception.I don’t see a trend, here. In the past, the Crew had a lot of trouble breaking defenses when they fell behind. Not today. A lot of chances and Shuttlesworth was lucky and good to save a few of them. Depending on whose healthy, I think you will see Diaz go back to coming off the bench to provide a spark. He is just better in that role. I think a draw all things considered is a glass more than half full.
I don't think so. They had a higher line and Mensah was the one who ran deep which allowed the pass to be made. Williams correctly stepped up then was caught trailing the play. So was Afful.
So i hope the rest of the games are on tv , i apparently don’t have thst chsnnel on Hulu but did watch the gm on the twitter feed that was posted ( mucho gracias ) i not only want to see phase 2 schedule but the th schedule with us at top of standings should result in some prime time games one would hope
Well, it was a good pun to make. That said, in previous years, Afful would have caught up. I think he's lost a step.
