How the hell does Almeyda still have a job after this? Not just this game but the 2 prior ones. He needs to go. Hire Ian Russell as interim coach to finish the season and get some good defenders onto the team during the current transfer window.

Kids are growing up, had to be a better role model *says the Lady of da House*

Funny story about my Quakes banner trashing--I was in the garage pondering how I would do it, was thinking of poking it full of cigarettes and then burning it to ashes. My lady walked into the garage, grabbed the banner, and tossed it into the trash.

Her words (along with an eyeroll or two): "You are spending too much effort on how to get rid of a flag whose team you no longer think is worth spending any effort on."

    Yeah OK.

What we really need is to adjust our strategies and tactics to fit the players we have. It doesn't matter how good a coach Matias Almeyda is, the players he has do not fit the mold that he wants. We are not going to do better by trying harder, we need to fundamentally change the way we play.

And at the end of the season, we should sack Matias, Jesse, all of Matias' coaches, and at least half of our roster. If Wondo wants to play another year, let him, but use him as a sub. Get at least three to five new strikers in for tryouts. Get some"proven dudes" from Central or South America, a couple of draftees, and at least one or two guys from MLS. You know, make an actual trade with another team for actual proven MLS talent. Yeah, I want at least six strikers in camp.

We need to replace all of our defenders. Maybe we keep Lopez and Marie as backups? They are young, they might get better?

Give JT a shot at starting GK. The notion that he was ever going to learn anything from Vega is laughable. And either sign an experienced backup from MLS, or just actually play Bersano.

    Players to keep:
    Beason
    Bersano
    Cowell
    Espinoza
Lima (only because we can trade him, though a new coach might like him)
    JT
Ochoa (on Reno or whoever our USL affiliate is next season)
    Skahan
    Judson
TT (because we can't fire everyone and he might recover his mojo with a new coach and position?)
Wondo (if he wants another year, otherwise find a new role for him in the org)
    Yueill

    Maybes:
    Calvillo (I think?)
    Fuentes (probably?)
    Haji (maybe?)
    Marie (maybe, as a backup?)
    Walls (???)

Sack everyone else. Trade them for beer, whatever.

It's time to start over. We need a coach and GM who understand and respect MLS. (As I've said many, many, many times before.) We need better players for certain. And we need for our owner to give a crap, which clearly, he does not.

    Go Quakes!!
    Go Quakesfans!!
    Fisher OUT!!

Paul Marie is 25 1/2. Not exactly young in the soccer world...

I've been a Jungwirth fan for some time but I'm over that. And I never got the point of Alanis. After yesterday's train wreck they both need to go. Each of them was directly responsible for several goals.

We're worse than that. Chivas USA beat us in their last game in their history.

Given our consistent status within MLS, I'd like to suggest a new theme for our pitch:

Yes, technically it does physically exist in the form of a trophy. . . which Wondo has won twice as a Quake. No, he has not won any championships as a Quake.

So, I accidentally saw the score of the game on my phone at the 42 minute mark. It was 5-0. My thought was that it saved 90 minutes of my life watching the game, but it didn't really. I still watched the first fifteen minutes and all of the goals. I would like to say that I was shocked, but most of us saw this coming (may be not this bad). I have seen almost every Clash/Quake since the very first one. I don't remember a game this bad and we had some bad teams in the Clash days and start of Quakes 2.0.

Even our goal was a joke with TT stepping on the players foot and getting a PK. Should have been carded for diving.

I have been calling for Vega to be replaced, but he really had no chance on any of the goals. The whole back four had a terrible game led by our centerbacks. The first goal was a joke with Morris getting the ball at midfield and just dribbling all the way for any easy shot and goal. Unbelievable.

By the way, with all the old forum posters returning to this thread, is this really a wake for the Quakes? Are they dead?

A new GM and coach aren't going to solve the problem. I'm passed that. No more looking to the future. The future is now. Getting some friggin players who can play! I don't care where they came from.

Nevermind. I just got a notification from the Quakes on free curly fries! I'm back!

Can I write "unbelievable" twice in a post?

And I’m sure you would agree, he, of all people, deserved better from Fisher for his efforts.

Everything is so depressing right now, I didn't know if I should read this thread with all its angst. :(

It's a darn pandemic. Why are we expecting anything from these guys? They are human beings like us. In the last 3 games they have been playing in ~100 degree heat, unhealthy air, flying in day of game, worrying about getting infected.

Our players are clearly slower than the likes of SEA LAFC LAG POR and they keep getting stripped of the ball. We only have one quality player: Espinoza. Yes, some teams like Columbus are getting better, but it's pretty clear that we are on a Stahre-like slide to the wooden spoon. Maybe we should just take our lumps this year and hope that Fisher gets tired of losing and sells soon.

In other words, embrace the suckitude and eliminate one more stress out of our lives. Because nothing is going to change this year.

We've seen a few games over the years that reek like this one. The beat down that Chicago gave us at home under Leitch, prior to the vets mutiny, which kicked off major changes in the line up and a playoff run. Games like this tell you the locker room is sour...no matter how much rah rah talk there is.

That line up against Seattle was going to get lit up, but they didn't have each other's back at all. That is a very very bad sign. When the will to bail out your teammate is noticeably not there. Time and time again the defensive rotations did not come...Flo got beat by Morris for speed in a big rounding turn straight up the middle. Alanis stays on his outside mark forever before responding too late. The Lopez/ Vako lapse marking on the right was a complete shit show. Lopez running routinely all over the place trying to man mark, but basically opening up a ton of space....Vako didn't care enough to track back and provide defensive coverage...gapping holes in transition. There are groups of players on this team that do not have each other's backs plain and simple.

    Big mess....

By the way, we were gifted that goal, it wasn't a PK by any means.

And I'm sick and tired of our announcers constant Rah-Rah cheerleading bullshit, if we're stinking up the pitch i want them to call it like it is.

You should take credit for the PK. I think that you called it in the pre-game thread as the only goal the Quakes would score.

I've decided to be positive. We won the last third of the game and overall had three times more corner kicks!

That PK was a gift from the refs. They felt sorry for us and gave us a freebie. I can think of no other explanation. Even the VAR signed off on it. If the score had been 0-0 at that point, no way would that have been a PK.

What was all that talk by the announcers about Yueill being on the bench by "coach's choice"? Isn't everything about the lineup the coach's choice? Why make such a fuss about that one? Plenty of other usual starters were benched, but there was no talk about that being the "coach's choice"... is there locker room drama around Yueill?

Well, Yuell has been the up and coming youngster who has tasted from the challis of the USMNT. Unfortunately, he has not played well and need a night off. Simple as that in my mind.

Normally, i'm fine with the announcing, but last night, it was not good. This was a time to be critical, and there was little to none of it.

Almost certainly they've been told not to be critical.

They weren't very critical during the '18 season, when every game they should have been dissecting the suck. I'm sure the word from on high is do not criticize the team or organization.

And yeah, they should have been speculating who would get fired over this match, on the assumption that someone or some multiple someones would get the axe first thing this morning. But on the website, you couldn't tell that we suffered an epic disaster last night.

    Go Quakes!!
