James Carr is a master, and this is my favorite change song. It's time get your ticket, y'all, and get on board.
How have none of you clowns bumped this yet. 7 goals is good for second best in the league. 7 goals in 750 minutes. 1 goal every 107 minutes. 15 shots this season. 7 goals. 47% of his shots are goals. 10 shots on goal, 7 goals. 70% of his shots on goal are goals. Choo Choo, mother********ers. RECOGNIZE GYASI ZARDES.
Twitter tipped me off to this... Gyasi Zardes, in 71 regular season matches with the club, has 39 goals. That moves him up, already, to 6th on the Crew's all-time goal scoring list. What surprised me is that the guy he passed was Justin Meram. I never would have guessed that Justin Meram was that high up on the list. Man, we haven't had a lot of prolific scorers, I guess.
Every Zardes goal is a product of positioning as opposed to creating a shot. It’s the successful culmination of buildup movement without the ball and a system coming together. The ideal striker in the Berhalter and Porter offense. At least now he is burying his shots opposed to last year. The last goal against Tide Pod was an example of that tenacity we missed last year.
Meram at his best had a nose for the goal. Could shoot from anywhere in the final third and had a lot of confidence. Never forgot that game winner in extra time against Seattle. I missed that guy. If Diaz develops something like that, he would be deadly and would free up a ton of space for his teammates like we saw yesterday.
As he always seems to do, Sirk has found a way to sum up the story League play. Five games all-time. The score: @gyasinho 7, FC Cincinnati 3. #Crew96 #FCCincy #HellisReal— Steve Sirk (@stevesirk) September 7, 2020
Sadly, this tweet reminds me of how Ben Roethlisberger has won more games in First Energy Stadium than any other QB--including all the Browns QB's since '99.
Gyasi’s back heel goal against Nashville:— Steve Abreu (@zipsix) September 20, 2020 Very good question brought up by Crew Legend, zipsix.... I'm torn. I'm typically of the mindset that Golazos are very rarely scored from within six yards of goal. Golazos are most usually strikes from distance that allow that pregnant pause as you rise from your seat in disbelief before the ball smashes the back of the net and you let out a phantasmagorical scream. However, as First Conductor of the Gyasi Zardes Hype Train, I have responsibilities....
