This time KC will be cagey. Expect pressing at only select times and a lot of grabbing, fouling, rough play to try and throw off the rhythm we are trying to use in possession. Vermes is pissed and wants a response - he will advocate fouling to get into the heads of some of our players. Seattle does the same thing to us usually with great effect - the key is not getting cards to unbalance the game. Elis and Quintero will need to keep tempers in check.
Good analysis Ace. Vermes teams are gonna Vermes their way out on the field. Shall we just call it "the Kansas City way" to play soccer. Knowing that Vermes will be studying the game film and looking to right the wrongs of a 2-5 home loss, one other tactic for Ramos to explore is to show up with a different lineup than the one that played just last week up in Kansas City. Not to really drop starters, certainly after two straight wins, but switch the starting positions so that what Vermes is preparing for and looking forward to payback, Ramos gives him a curve ball to use a baseball analogy. Elis can switch wing positions, or play more central which he himself mentioned he enjoys getting more time down the spine of the team's attack.
Commonets on Liga MX and MLS from the Sporks Mexican forward Alan Palido: https://www.vavel.com/en-us/soccer/...ifference-between-mls-and-mexican-soccer.html “MLS is a little more vertical and they also have a little more space. So it has more goals. Mexican soccer is more tactical, the teams close the spaces so that there aren’t many opportunities for goals. These are some of the differences that exist between one league and another”, said the striker to VAVEL. The soccer player also praised the number of Latinos participating in the league. He said that the numbers are growing. This helps to improve the technical level of the competition and also helps you in the dialogue. For me as an old coach, this comparison is not unlike what can be said about the difference between the EPL and Serie A. Where the EPL is very much about direct play, up and down the field like a good track meet, all go no quit turnovers be damned! Then there is the Italian brand of defense and positional play as the go to tactic, certainly ball control and not getting into a track meet that opens up the field to disrupt tactical security is a premium from their culture.
Wow with this 5 player sub rule we are wearing out teams. Ramirez bruises about for 55-60 minutes then you bring on Lassiter. Memo buzzes about for 60 minutes you bring on Elis. Hansen runs in behind over and over and you sub him out for Manotas. I questioned not starting Elis and Lassiter but it worked out. I think we just needed to wear out a good defense. KC’s midfield isn’t as good as ours and Russel is there best forward but he didn’t start. Isn’t Pulido on their roster- was he hurt and unavailable?
I think Elis is the perfect type of player to bring off the bench to run against tired legs. Brings up the whole energy of your team when you see a guy come in with his aggressive play as well. That doesn’t mean we should never start him, but I think when you have a lot of good options and have a lot of games in a row, then it’s smart.
what a fantastic win!! up to 3rd place (for now) with a next match against a sub par team, we should remain above the line. PS is this what hope feels like???
Figueroa lucked out not to see red in like the 6th minute Quintero is amazing. He’s maybe the most talented player the team has ever had. Good game, nice for the other team to concede late for a change.
Talent wise, you might be right. If he keeps this pace up consistently throughout the next couple of years, the fanbase will be talking about him like DeRo (provided the rest of the team finds success as well).
We won 4 straight MLS games near the beginning of last season, although the loss to Pumas in 2nd leg of Champions League happened during the streak. Depends on how you want to count it. Looking again, 3 of those wins came after the Pumas loss.
That’s the big if. I don’t know that he can, but he’s just on an entirely different level than the rest of the team and the opposition. I don’t think we’ve had someone like him since DeRo.
Hmm. I guess I missed that. I knew I shouldn't have trusted googling on my phone. 3/05/19 HOU 0-2 UANL 3/09/19 HOU 2-1 MTL 3/12/19 UANL 1-0 HOU 3/16/29 HOU 3-2 VAN 3/30/19 COR 1-4 HOU 4/13/19 HOU 2-1 SJE 4/19/19 LAG 2-1 HOU So, yep, 4 straight in MLS. 3 straight in all competitions.
Team looked very dangerous overall but especially after subs. Dynamo should lobby MLS to make 5 subs permanent
We need some rotation for Figueroa Valentin and Lundquist. Players like Figueroa won’t say ‘take me out’ or ‘give me a rest tonight’, he will just act on on the field by a card worthy foul, make that mistake a tired player makes that results in goals against, or end up getting an injury. All of them played fairly well. It may have been Lundquists best game I can remember. He won more tackles and seemed to have gained more confidence. I know Valentins man got behind him on the initial shot that resulted in the score he did well to shut down his side of the field and had that beautiful cross in for the winning goal. He is definitely an upgrade over AJ DeLaGarza IMO. He’s faster, physically stronger, and better presence in the air.
De Ro was a tremendous box to box midfielder as far as #10 types go let us not forget that aspect to his overall game. De Ro would do well to track back and help Rico out. Quintero does not have this trait, does not get back much on the defensive side of the ball. Also, De Ro and his dead ball ability is slightly above Quintero's. Both are excellent free kick takers, so we will see how Quintero can match up to De Ro. The man that I still consider the best player our club has ever had the pleasure to support. One can tell that Ramos has finally gotten through to all the players on what he demands as far as ball maintenance, running for each other to open up the field, clock management for the players on when and who will start, i.e. mixing that up when there are two games in a week like this last week and most Importantly, the joy and confidence that our guys seems to be playing with coming back home after the MLS is Back tourney. Players are really enjoying their football and Ramos is making his stamp on his players. Keep it up boys!!! DALE DYNAMO!!!
