And this isn't the time for a guy like Yedlin to be looking for a more attractive career location without much/any financial sacrifice. The EPL is where the $$$ are. Maybe Italy or Germany would improve him significantly as a player (doubtful, as he's already 27) but only their CL sides could pay Newcastle wages, and COVID is going to make them a bit more careful than usual about who they recruit. If he wants to play in Italy, he'll need a pay cut
Given the Italians' propensity to value tactical acumen I find it highly unlikely that Yedlin would be very desirable anywhere there, unless he came very cheap. I've never seen anything from him that would indicate that he's got a good tactical brain. In fact, he seems to still rely on using his speed to make up for basic positioning deficiencies.
I would imagine Newcastle would sell him for a few hundred thousand pounds? He's got no real value, and he's not going to play for them this season. It's just wasted salary in their eyes so why not offload him?
I'm not sure this is true. He's in the mix to play. Even if not as a starter. If they don't have him on the bench, they need another body. They won't be free. And it's not crazy to think that there will be a bit more transfer money next season. If they can get an extension without increasing costs much, it may well be a smart (or at least "not dumb") ROI decision, assuming DY stays healthy.

I have never seen a worse 1on1 defender than Yedlin.. He allows so much space- which is strange considering how fast he is..
It appears the best spin is at least the 5th PK didn't come till he was off... Sadly, the 4 run of play goals all occurred with him playing. Didn't see any specific mention in the two short reports I read.
He really allows a lot of room for opponents to cross. He is fast when he gets going but maybe not so quick off the mark when he has to turn and go.
He still played off a lot, I assumed it was Benitez's preference. If Big Sam and Benitez had a problem with it, I figured he'd have changed his play or gone to the bench.
Yedlin and Boyd on the same team and playing on the same side of the pitch. @Suyuntuy has a dream come true
The only reason Beşiktaş iswas in the Champions this season is because Trapzonspor is banned from Euro competitions, otherwise they'd be in the Europa (well now they are).
There seems to be some concern about Yedlin's far post defending at the moment.. (V. Stoke, down 1-0 at 18' mins. some suggestion of back-post ball-watching.) "highlights" are up... Need to register. I didn't. 📺 Highlights from this afternoon's game are now available to watch on NUFC TV.#NUFC— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) September 5, 2020
So much of this game is about confidence and I am not sure how much Yedlin has left. When I 1st started watching him play RB/RWB for NCU I thought he was OK defensively. Not great, but good enough to warrant the starts considering what he was bringing moving forward. But somewhere along the way the dude just lost it IMO. Now I wouldn't even consider putting him on a NT squad. Not sure the book on him has been completely written because he has good athletic characteristics and he isn't old... but he needs to reinvent himself somewhere else IMO.
