Right. What I saw was just an update from Globo (SporTV). I found it odd that she read a prepared statement on the air, but she said she was doing that because it was long.

This conflict would be like if Trump decreed the abolishment of regional blackouts, so for example the New York Yankees and the New York Patriots could air all its games across the country overnight.

Thanks appreciate the help, so at the end of the article it says they will use Globo and Turner feeds so we will see more games maybe all the games.

It sounds like you already translated it and got the gist of it. It is not exactly the best written or most logically reported story. But I think you got the idea. It seems that Fanatiz is part of this effort to sell the Brasileirao (Serie A and B) around the world, starting in South America, then moving to North America, Europe, and Asia. It is not clear who the partners are in this effort with Fanatiz, but in any event, I question the description of the roll out in the article, since it seems that North America is first, but I am not sure what is going on with Fanatiz in the countries in South America.

What I find curious is what the article does not discuss, which is what appears to be a simultaneous roll out using the Premiere package from Globo in Brazil. That is what we now have on Sling, with different channel icons than the Fanatiz package. It appears that the Fanatiz package is indeed some wider international effort to offer the Brasileirao around the world, perhaps with commentary in other languages later on (English? Spanish?). That is not covered in the article. The Premiere package on Sling is clearly aimed at Brazilians in the USA. It is being marketed with, and included with the Brazilian packages on Sling. Dish, and later Sling, have been leaders in offering Brazilian channels in the USA, starting with Globo Internacional on Dish upon the debut of the channel in the USA in the late 1990's. The Premiere package on Sling is exactly what you get in Brazil, including the promos and commercials. I think that is pretty cool. I think that it is a lucky piggyback on the Sling Brazilian subscribers that you guys get the Premiere package with the world sport package on Sling.

I think that the Premiere package on Sling and the Fanatiz Brasileirao package are really competing most against the illegal IPTV pirated signal black boxes that so many Brazilians in the USA seem to have. I hope that Sling and Fanatiz win, and those pirates go out of business. I would love to compare image quality and dependability against the pirates, but I imagine the Sling and Fanatiz streams are much better in both areas.

Also of note, the Gremio-Corinthians game today was on Globo Internacional on Sling, with the domestic Globo announcing crew and on Premiere on Sling with the SporTV announcing crew. So, you had the choice of announcing crews, just like in Brazil. That is very cool. Fanatiz used the Globo announcing crew for the same game.

Both Sling (Premiere) and Fanatiz have the Fluminense v. Inter game right now, but with different announcing crews. Sling has the original Premiere announcing crew from Brazil and Fanatiz has Globo announcers, probably from a regional broadcast in Brazil.

The same announcing crew differences are also present in the other 2 games currently live on Sling and Fanatiz.

So, Sling has imported the straight full Premiere package as offered domestically in Brazil, while Fanatiz is picking up separate streams. I wonder if that is contractual, where Fanatiz cannot use the Premiere announcers if other streams are available because Premiere owns the exclusive rights to that IP talent?

Fanatiz seems to have mostly solved the frame rate issue, with just a few dropped frames here and there.

As expected, Santos v. Athletico-PR was not on Sling (Premiere). It was on Fanatiz, via the TNT (Brasil) feed. So, there is a difference between the 2 new services in the USA. Fanatiz will have a few more games than Premiere, at least until October, when the existing law regarding broadcast rights terminates. I would expect Premiere to pick up those missing games in October, but that is yet to be determined.

I do like how Fanatiz makes the replays available immediately.

Here is an article from yesterday that explains the broadcast rights dispute, including international broadcast rights:

    http://furacao.com/2020/08/15/com-o...sa-novela-dos-jogos-do-furacao-no-brasileiro/

What I saw in this article that I have not seen elsewhere is a discussion of international broadcast rights, the status of which is as clear as mud.

Also, the article mentions that all but one Serie A club have signed on with Premiere. The only team that has not is Athletico-PR. So, Premiere will not be showing any games involving Athletico-PR. Basically, Premiere will be showing all of the games, except the game involving Athletico-PR, every week.

Fanatiz now seems to think they have the rights to show the Athletico-PR games plus all the Premiere games, as they did this week. Last week, Fanatiz just showed the Premiere games, and did not show the Athletico-PR game. Or maybe Fanatiz is just picking up the Athletico-PR away games, like this week, and not their home games, like last week? Athletico-PR is even showing their games on their own website, for a fee.

This seems like a fluid situation that could change at any time. Globo seems to think things will revert back to last season's situation in October, based on the statement read on-air on SporTV a few days ago.

That game was not on Sling/Premiere. No Athletico-PR games have been on Sling/Premiere so far.

The interesting thing is the international aspect. You could see the ad boards during the Athletico-PR home game advertising streaming all of their games on the club's website for R$ 24.90/month (about USD $5). Does the club make those games on their website available outside of Brazil? And if not, why can't Premiere show those games outside of Brazil? Did Fanatiz pay a separate fee for those games?

    Lots of unanswered questions.

Do we know why Sling still doesn’t have a program guide or why there is no lookback option yet?

The first Premiere channel now has the schedule on screen when there are no games. But it looks like the PDF from the Sling web page. My guess is that they are still working on that stuff.

This is now a new channel on Sling called "Premiere Schedule." That channel just has the schedule of games, showing which games are on each of the 8 other channels. So, there are a total of 9 Premiere channels on Sling now.

Premiere on Sling is showing the Brazilian Cup games today from SporTV in Brazil. Those games are not on Fanatiz.

So, Premiere on Sling is Brasileirao Serie A and B plus Copa do Brasil.

Athletico-PR games still not on Premiere but that is not a big deal unless they have a great year either win the league or qualify for the Libertadores

Fox Soccer Plus has one of the Copa do Brasil games scheduled today. I didn't know that Fox had those rights in the USA.

And the game is actually on Fox Soccer Plus live right now, in English. Goias v. Vasco, Brazilian Cup.

That game is also on Premiere on Sling now, along with all the other Copa do Brasil games. The Mineiro and Gaucho state championship games are also live now on Premiere on Sling. With a split screen of Copa do Brasil games on Premiere 8.

Wow, Premiere is all lit up and all in HD. No shortage of games there.

Interestingly, SBT in Brazil has the Bolivar- Palmeiras Copa Libertadores game live right now and SBT Internacional on Sling has the variety show Programa do Ratinho live right now. They both show as "ao vivo" (live) on screen. The SBT (domestic) announcers are talking about Programa do Ratinho coming up after the game.
