Strangely, it seems like he's already been with the club: https://www.revolutionsoccer.net/post/2020/05/21/get-know-revolution-ii-maciel (and that he played for them on July 25th). Maybe he was on trial, or a short-term deal that needs renewing/extending?
Revolution II Fall, 2-0, to Orlando City B August 7, 2020 10:34PM EDT revolutionsoccer.net This was a frustrating game to watch. OCB was clearly inferior to Revs II, but much like the first team, R2 had no trouble getting the ball into the 18 yard box, but had no idea what to do with it once they got there. Even after going down a man in the 38' (second yellow), R2 still seemed to dominate (56.4% possession for the game). R2 started to tire after 60', and OCB got 2 easy chances and buried them both. Mayele Malango was my MOTM, creating chances his teammates just couldn't finish.
A few homegrowns on loan from the first team helped end the scoreless drought in a wild, back and forth game. Recap | Revolution II draws defending champion North Texas SC, 3-3 August 16, 2020 9:53AM EDT revolutionsoccer.net A few random thoughts: Defending league champs North Texas came out aggressive. They scored in the 4' off a free kick just outside the 18, after an attacker was pushed down from behind making a run at goal. In the game, NTX had 60% possession and outshot R2 26-7. Nick Firmino scored the first goal in R2 history will a great individual effort. He intercepted a GK diagonal pass with his right foot, just outside the 18. It popped up, and before it hit the ground he one-timed it with his left into the net. Revs academy player Colby Quinones made his debut, getting the start at RB for the suspended (red card) Ryo Shimazaki. Quinones acquitted himself quite well. R2 continued to struggle with set pieces, as NTX retook the lead in 27' with a header off a corner kick. In the second half, Tiago Mendonca had another nice individual effort. Stealing the ball from the RB, he dribbled all the way into the 6 yard box, then slotted a pass across the goalmouth for an easy tap-in by Isaac Angking, Tying the score at 2-2. Unfortunately Mendonca left the game immediately after the goal with an injury. Angking gave R2 their first ever lead in the 79' with a nice 20-yard strike. That stood until stoppage time, when a cross into the box inadvertently bounced off 2 heads before falling to the knee of NTX sub Alex Bruce, then into the net to tie the game. R2 were not randomly firing shots, as all 7 shots were on target. After playing tentatively in their first 2 games, seems like they are starting to get their feet as a team. Disappointing that they couldn't hang on for their first win (only team in the league still winless), but overall they played well and showed some good signs.
Revolution II Game Preview: New England vs. Richmond Kickers August 21, 2020 11:02AM EDT revolutionsoccer.net
Watched the game, junior is just like dad...nothing in the box and no goal scorers. The goal they scored was a nice curled shot from just inside the box, just about everything else was a shot from outside the box.
Goal scorer was Malango. Rivera, Angking, and Firmino all started, and Firmino went 90. 16 year old Hikaru Fugiwara started at the 10 and went 60, so it seems like the plan will involve getting a decent number of academy kids minutes
Anyone else notice who it was coaching the Kickers? If you're an old like me, picture a flowing mane of blonde hair flying recklessly down the field.

Saw this, I have no "take" one way or the other re: Bloch's departure. But Sean's thoughts in the article on attitude(s) of European players in USL is interesting, seems like he might be generalizing (or is he not?) 1298816900827435008 is not a valid tweet id
Good to see more minutes for Firmino/Angking/Rivera. Curious to see if any of the others (Quiñones, Malango, ???) end up becoming impactful enough to join the revs or if they're just occupying space
Hopefully not a sign of what's to come for the first team... Recap | Revolution II falls at Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, 4-0 August 29, 2020 4:24PM EDT revolutionsoccer.net Zero shots on goal. Ugh.
Pretty good article about the Revs II: https://www.thebentmusket.com/2020/8/29/21407049/revs-ii-are-more-successful-than-their-record-shows Their main goal isn't about winning games - though we all like to see that too. I'm very happy that our best young prospects are getting lots of playing time.

It really is strange to see how the Revs furthest trip since the full restart was Chicago, but Revs II has gone to Texas and now heading to Arizona. MLS seems to be trying to keep travel under control during this, while USL2 is like ... "Eh, go play."
