i think the color commentator was Mick Luckhurst, ex-Atlanta Falcons kicker from England. US pushed Italy pretty hard in their final game IIRC

Looking forward to watching the game tonight, just not looking forward to getting shredded in the process. Recall what K.C. did to us back in March up there.
C'MON BOYS! RODEO THE {UCK UP! LET'S GET SOME TONIGHT!!! ROAD POINTS!!!

It was the night in Rome when the Olimpico Stadium was packed with rabid Azzuri fans and they go up 1-0, then late on Vermes follows up a dead ball hit from outside the 18 that the Italian Keeper, Walter Zenga, stops from going in but spills it to Vermes whose shot is stopped by Zenga by the mere fact that his buttocks landed on the ball as it was nearing the goal line. He knew little about that shot that night and it woulda been a National disaster if the host nation was to drop points to the Americans if anyone an the planet! I was able to ask Vermes back in 2000 what he woulda done in celebration in front of such a packed house of 77,000 Azzuri die hards in shock that the lowly U.S. guys had scored on mighty Italy at their house and he said he had not thought of any goal celebration pre game, just rues that save by Zenga. A man that went on to play in MLS for the Revs back in the late 90's iirc.
Here are the highlights of that match in Rome. It was our second match after losing to the Czechs 5-1 in the opener. A loss but 1-0 to a host nation like Italy, those guys laid the foundation for USA1994 success. Minute 1:30 is the shot and Vermes follow up on Zenga.

Well, sadly I must say, I think we lose this one tonight. We suck on the road and they are a very good team. We can't seem to buy a win, not that our owners would anyway.

as i said on the other thread, going into 3 games with the top 2 teams in the conference, playing for a tie with a much weaker dallas team at home -- 1 sub, late, no numbers pushed up -- seems less defensible.

i can't concede it but this game in particular is a tough ask -- we've already played them once away and it was ugly. we can only hope they learned something.

they are blaming the crappy signal on Comcast and Uverse rather than acknowledging they decided to go with a channel now so obscure they don’t get allocated appropriate bandwidth on Xfinity. This is the same as when Canetti crowed about being on CBS Radio 610 “sharing the airwaves with the Texans!” when they were on the HD-2 channel

Yes, I have a feeling I'll be calling quits early when we go down by multiple goals. I hope tomorrow i eat crow but I doubt it. What's strange is that we aren't playing terribly, we just can't get a win.

Really sucks they blackout ESPN+. I don't have cable I guess I could plug the old antennas back in but last few times I tried I could get the station needed.

Dynamo look decent but still give up way too many quick goals after scores

eating them alive off the wings

see how it’s different if you’re going after a defense not already sitting back in numbers

i was glad hansen went with it because it avoided the offsides issue we dodged on the earlier goal

i also would like for us to jtake some people on and not just be a take it to the corner and whack it in team

so i support the wings just running at the markers sometimes

to be blunt melia seems awfully tied to his line for playing an opponent killing his team with ground passes in behind the backs

I didn't think of that but that was probably in his mind. Good point.

surely some of the nominal forward depth might be better mids than what we are starting there

why not try hansen, memo, maybe even quintero as mids

hansen can clearly hit a throughball

this flipped on its head because the first 15 they looked a step slow and chasing their tail on defense

second half we simply look more lively

it really doesn’t hurt to get an early one

struna to me is the defensive problem

to me bad things happen with defenders running face first to their own net, i don’t think you’re seeing your man, you’re pointed towards the bad place to clear

to me you want to get back and get face forward or at least sideways

keeper seemed out of position and slow to react on the first, deflection, yes,but hopefully you’re the one following ball flight and not standing there stunned
