What difference a win makes! So very satisfying. That was a great team effort, and a lot to build on for the future. Important minutes for Depuy, Insua, Araujo, and Jona and Alvarez in substitution (Klejstan was less successful). Feltscher had a really good game. Leadership from Pavon, Lletget. The black jerseys melted in the sun, and white prevailed.
First shutout in El Traffico history. First win on the road too. We re-take the advantage in the series (3-3-2). Congrats to the boys, that's massive.
I said we would be lucky to lose 4-1. That’s a 3 goal difference. We won 2-0 for a 2 goal difference. So my interpretation is that I pretty much nailed it.
Today DePuy was our Virgil van Dijk. Love, love, love it. Should have been 3-0. Very proud of the team. Also, I'm very excited about Leeds being back in the EPL. Let's see how they'll do against Liverpool in their seaopener.
It was fun listening to Holden and strong continue to argue that LAFC is the worlds greatest football team in the 85th minute of a 2-0 loss at home. ridiculous. great performance today. We have to start with this mentality. Defend solid and find your moments going forward.
Anyone smarter than me want to break this down? We got spanked last time we played but today we looked really good for long stretches. Depuy is better than Pipo without a doubt now. If we’re being honest, lafc was poor today. Is that it? Is that enough to go from 2-6 to 2-0?
lafc central defense is trash. Rest of team looked entirely uninterested. They are not a deep team and missing atuesta and BWP (from start) hurt. We defended first and was effective going forward at right moments. De Piet was 3 times the player González is in central defense. Fairer score would be 3-0. Incredibly comfortable. Fox broadcasters(who I generally like) couldn’t stop pumping LAFC’s tires even when down 2-0 at home in 85th minute. edit -I’m not smarter then you though.
This is a timely observation, this note about the praise LAFC enjoys week in / week out, across all the American soccer media. This is their 3rd season -- and admittedly this year is strange considering the covid circumstances -- but when will the commentary and the pundits start to ask the question of how much praise LAFC is due as the league's "super club" without a appearance in MLS Cup, much less a championship. By my count, 5 other clubs have reached MLS Cup in their first 3 years -- DCU, Galaxy, Colorado, Fire, and Atlanta. The quick counterargument will say that MLS is different now, more difficult than it was in the early years, and that maybe only the Atlanta comparison applies in the modern era. But the early days were not necessarily the good old days, as the questions loomed of the league's stability and the standards of support and professionalism had not matured to what the teams enjoy now. The standard is surely higher now, but those early years were no less demanding when you consider the circumstances under which those guys competed . . . I'm sure Lalas, Cien, and Wynalda have stories of players doing their own laundry or training on baseball fields, awaiting word on whether the next season would even happen, etc . . . so in my view, LAFC has achieved nothing yet to take a place as a leading club in MLS history. Plenty will disagree with me, while plenty of others will agree. One person who agrees I'm sure is Bob Bradley. He's known MLS since the start and been in or around all phases of the league's development, he knows they need at least an appearance in MLS Cup before considering they've accomplished anything historic. So when will this question be asked of LAFC, alongside all the hype and praise they receive ?
Given how angry bradley has visibly been in recent matches and how he’s plainly said after losing to Orlando he was “angry” and about to go yell at his team and to then have such a listless shitty performance today...is it possible he has somehow lost his team? they seem tuned out.
