I've just assumed, perhaps wrongly, that Gallegos isn't signing with an MLS team because he wants to go to Europe... but then I expected him to actually do the latter. I also don't know why he doesn't start every game for SAFC.
Impressive line for '04 new homegrown signing CB Efrain Morales in his USL debut. 🇺🇸 Efrain Morales (16) in his 1st pro match at CB with @atlutd2 :🆚 Charleston✅ 68 min⚽️ 1 goal🎯 94.7% pass comp⚔️ 6/6 duels won🚀 7 clearances❌ 2 interceptions💪 2/2 tackles wonSigns contract with #ATLUTD, makes pro debut after an injury, scores 1st goal. Bolivia are a weak team that might look to call him to their U20s or U23s, if they're aware of him. https://www.lostiempos.com/deportes...in-morales-quisiera-jugar-seleccion-boliviana
Winger or #10? I see a winger who can fill in at times as a #10. 1294861430739566592 is not a valid tweet id This guy remains talented on the ball. I don't know if the full game is anything too great though. Take a BOW, @IsaacAngking 👏#NTXvNE | @NERevolution2 pic.twitter.com/5Z3DeV3WBG— USL League One (@USLLeagueOne) August 16, 2020
This play was created after an excellent effort play by Toure to pressure the LB. Also, there’s no way this play happens if the player on RW closing the ball down doesn’t have the blistering pace that Toure has. It’s not a big play, but Toure’s pace frightens defenders and the ones that aren’t great on the ball or aren’t the fastest will make errors. He has excellent energy and presses extremely well.
Ft. Lauderdale-Orlando B: Edison Azcona ('03): A little quieter this game. Not bad, but he wasn't great either. He's so crafty though. He always has a solution for problems without using athleticism, which he doesn't have. Felipe Valencia ('05): Considering, I thought he was good. He showed good dribbling ability, he could keep up athletically, and thought the game fast enough at a much faster pace than he's played at before. The end product was non-existent, but not surprising, given his age. Blaine Ferri ('00): He's too good for this level. He runs a third division game. Thomas Williams ('04): Considering his age and how raw he is, I didn't think he was that bad. He wasn't particularly good, but not terrible either. He's still very slow to react to plays defensively. This is a problem in his own age group. It's an even bigger problem at this level. He cannot be rushed. He has excellent size, can pass the ball (left-footed), and is very mobile. He can make defensive plays if the game is in front of him. If you ask him to react to what happens around him, he cannot do that yet. Michael Halliday ('03): He had many good battles with Azcona. That was a fun matchup to watch. He was better than the first game I saw him play earlier this season. He wasn't great here. Still a few defensive errors, but a pretty good performance. Some sloppy errors is really all I'd say he needs to clean up at this level, and that will come with more pro games. He also was pretty good going forward. He was playing as a RWB, and that suits his game with his pace and athleticism going forward. Wilfredo Rivera ('03): He scored a goal, but it was a weak shot that was deflected. He didn't have much impact, but when he did get on the ball, he had good ideas and has good playmaking ability. Moises Tablante ('01): I'm a fan of what I've seen the last few games. He has good dribbling ability, enough athleticism, and some creativity. I don't think his ceiling is that high, but he's able to impact a game at this level. He's done well in the two games I've seen this season. Julian Kennedy ('02): Didn't add much. Only played the first half. Chased the ball a lot. NYRB-Hartford: Joe Fala ('97): First game I've seen him play CB for the full 90 minutes. Played pretty well. For a 6'7 player, he's a tremendous athlete, and he has really good coordination with the ball. I also like his passing. He was a CF in the past, and you can tell because of the fluidity he plays the CB position with. John Tolkin ('02): Very non-descript performance. Partially at fault for the first goal. Outside of that, didn't do much of note, good or bad. Boima Cummins ('03): He was playing RB in this game. I've only seen him at LB before, although he's right-footed. I like him better at LB after now seeing him at RB. He's better able to cut inside, and I think that suits his game, but the versatility to play both helps. He looked pretty bad and almost lazy defensively in the first half. He was constantly beat with combination play, and let his winger get in behind the defense. In the second half, he was much better, and even had a positive impact on the game on both sides of the ball. Kenan Hot ('04): He was subbed off at halftime, and I didn't understand why. He didn't have much impact on the game, but I thought he was good enough, which for an '04 in USL isn't too bad. Jake LaCava ('01): Very little impact. Nothing of note to mention. Omar Sowe ('00): Subbed on late. I'm not sure he had more than a few touches. Tapiwa Shumba ('03): I don't know if this guy is actually eligible to play for the USA. He played RW. Under-sized winger, he has some good speed and dribbling ability. Can combine. Nothing great. Didn't look too bad for an '03. Dantouma Toure ('04): Helped create the game tying goal. Didn't add that much, but he hasn't been out of place in the games I've seen of him at this level. You'd like to see more of an impact, but I feel like he's been played out of position (he's more of a CF), and I haven't seen any 04's play particularly well yet in USL. Also, for full transparency, I referenced a listing earlier this week I saw of him as 5'8, and I can't believe he's 5'8. That listing seemed wrong when I initially referenced it, but I went with it. Having seen him play again, I think 5'6 or maybe 5'7 is more accurate. Caden Clark ('03): Helped set up a goal, as mentioned earlier. Like Toure, he was also subbed on in the second half. He made a lot of good, quick decisions, like he normally does, and I'm a big fan of his combination play. The one thing I'd caution is that he's contributed to a number of goals and assists so far this season, which might make one think he's been dominating and been one of the best players in USL so far this season, but I think he's been getting pretty lucky. He's been involved in some attacking chances, but it seems like every attacking chance he's part of is resulting in a goal. This sample seems highly unsustainable over a bigger sample.
Rodriguez has played on the wing, however......................... Its interesting to me that other young FCD first teamers aren't playing down. Sealy, in particular. I remember hearing that the only players that FCD could "play down" were the ones that had recovered from coronavirus. So maybe that's the issue here.
Lighting the fuse in attack... 💣Noah Fuson is going #FullMingo in 2020! Help us welcome @NoahFuson to the Flamingos! 🦩 pic.twitter.com/UA52mY4QbL— Forward Madison FC (@ForwardMSNFC) August 17, 2020 Forward Madison sign I assume an '00. He was at Crescenta Valley SC, a non-DA program that has since folded, prior to heading over to England with a pay-to-play soccer/college combo.
How about Valentin Sabella of Charlotte? He's a 99 who went to HS in Florida and is originally from Argentina.
Excellent call. He belongs on the list. A few more: the Fujiwara brothers, (Kaoru '01 and Hikaro '03) for Revs II. Moises Tablante '01 of Orlando City B (I'm thinking he's not a citizen, but not 100% sure)
He may be a '99. Here is an old roster of Crescenta Valley's Boys 99 team: http://elements.demosphere.com/73496/teams/87694651/88325909-87694805/TEAM.html It's hardly impossible that he played up, of course. I suspect we will have to anxiously await the creation of a profile page for him on the USL's website!
It’s official! 🖊Congratulations to our own Alex Villanueva on signing with @TACdefiance! 👏 #TheFuture pic.twitter.com/WnowmK3IXX— Sounders FC Academy (@SoundersAcademy) August 19, 2020
LB. I think he was a winger a few years ago. Good dribbling skill, but athleticism and defense is a little questionable, if I'm remembering his game correctly.
Espinal is an '03. I believe Rivera is an '04. The. Future. Is. Bold. Local youth standouts Derreck Espinal and Alan Rivera join Austin Bold FC. Read more about our newest signings ⤵️ #DaleBold https://t.co/rtCyBH8LUx— Austin Bold FC (@AustinBoldFC) August 19, 2020
Very solid player that was on a poor U17 FCD team last season. I think there is a chance his trajectory skyrockets know that he is surrounded by better players. Still not completely sold on him, but he definitely has something.
Heck, I wouldn't mind if Berhalter calls him into the October domestic based USMNT friendly. *Assuming there's no U20 camp going on at the same time.
Gallegos off for '04 winger Leo Torres. Believe this is his first USL appearance (made a cameo last year in the Open Cup).
Like we're that loaded with MLS based exciting attacking players, and Aaronson could be gone to Europe by then. Unless you're hoping for a Memo Rodriguez call up. Roster would be pretty close to a January camp type roster and with Berhalter calling in Llanez, Kayo, and also called in Ledezma and Richards (whose clubs declined), Berhalter is certainly looking for up and comers. Plus, 50/50 that Pomykal will be hurt.
We shouldn't call anyone from USL. Get yourself an offer first. Where is the line? Should Clark be called as well? Not Pepi or Ferreira? MLS isn't that poor.
