Well, for some, it's having the money to buy tickets if they are not working... Mrs KG and I are fortunate to still have jobs, so we're good. That may not be true of everyone at this point in time.
This played a role in the kind of ticket I purchased; I might have gone for a more expensive season ticket under different circumstances. I also know of at least a couple of season ticket holders from last season who aren't able to commit to 2021 tickets yet. Not until they feel more secure financially.
I was going to edit my post to say just that. We committed to one of the cheaper options because we felt we could keep that up longer term. But that had as much to do with retirement being on the horizon as COVID (but COVID was in our thoughts).
Decided to return to Nordecke for next year. May God have mercy on my soul. I used to stand above the stage and vacate my upper deck midfield ticket. Now that Nordecke moved behind the goal, I don’t mind going back. My new strategy will be to get as close to the very last row as possible to watch.
Jokes aside - everyone is bemoaning ticket prices and losing their seats and all of that hoopla, but there has been no mention of the trend towards decreased concession prices and increased quality/options. I think we're all loathe to pay $13 for a Bud Light, but we have to all agree that $5 is acceptable for swill, with $8-10 pretty good for local, right? With $2.50 hotdogs and $2 popcorn and then local street food at market price (maybe +$1) in addition to the usual stadium crap. Right? Am I imagining it or did I read somewhere that the Haslam Sports Group is on board with Uncle Arthur and the others in the effort to bring concession prices back to Earth?
A lot depends on the quality. We used to eat a lot at Jackets games as the quality was close to restaurant quality. That's slipped slightly over the past few years, and now we'll stop at local places (some of which are not the deal they once were either--Nada used to have a good happy hour but now they have a "game day menu" that's full price). I always eat at Reds games--because they have a $5-6 brat from Queen City Sausage that's really high quality. At Crew games, we usually get food truck food.
I don't recall reading anything on the record about this. Pretty much just in here. It would make sense, though, for a facility that intends to be open to fans on non match days to have pricing that reflects that strategy. I mean, no one is going to hang out at the stadium brew hall to watch any away match, say, and pay $10-12 for a beer.
So, the Mrs and I are in. It looks like they are done playing in Mapre Stadium. It will be interesting to see if there league allows them to backload the schedule with home games.
I've heard they might be reaching out to local food vendors and just leasing them spaces in the stadium. I think this is a great idea. If Dos Hermanos can price their product right and sell enough to justify the rent, then great more power to them. Same for Roosters or some other outfit - love to have local. Not sure if that is how Huntington park did it or not. Obviously team wants cut of some sort either through flat rent charge or possibly % of sales - which can be common in retail leases..
There will be games at Mapfre starting next week. Whether any or how many fans will be allowed in is an open question. It's also not clear who has jurisdiction to make that decision. Franklin county health probably won't like fans but the stadium is on state owned land and state might be more lenient. Team says its hoping for 25% capacity.
I doubt it, this week was my call and I have been a STM for 5 years. I think they are getting close though.
They need to announce something. The team has said they want to play with 25% capacity. I doubt the health authorities allow it but most of us here have valid tickets and maybe parking passes for the next home game.
Have you checked your Account Manager recently? All of my game tickets on the app are for March 25, 2022.
I figured youd just been hitting the sauce a little early today so I checked my account and yes indeed, I have a list of tickets available for March 2022. No mention of 2021. A couple entries for credits for 2020. And here I thought they had their IT act together after years of running the club on a TI99/4A.
I checked my account via the mls app. There are credits, tickets for a game in July, a bonus that seems to be valued at $0 and some other stuff that doesn’t make much sense. I’m playing golf Sunday with a guy that works for the team so I’ll see if he knows anything.
I think these are placeholders for the "8 or 9" home games we may have coming up this season. In the event someone is not paying attention to anything and shows up when one of the tickets said we had a game. They will reassign these in the event we have fans, and the fan opts in, if they opt out they can convert them to credits easily. I am not saying it is the smartest way to do it, but as someone that works in an institution with outdated software we come up with some pretty interesting solutions to modern problems that the system wasn't designed for, so I will give the the benefit of the doubt. I can't imagine Ticketmaster spends much on their infrastructure.
