Adams starts the match on the bench for RasenBallsport. The match is currently 0-0 after 17 minutes.

I just feel Leipzig play a totally different style of game than last year. Nagelsmann has those guys flying out there. Not that Tyler can't play at this pace, but it ain't easy to be out injured and then come back within a squad who is playing like this. The times I've seen Tyler play this season, his game has seemed disjointed from the tempo on the field. Doesn't mean he's bad at all, but next year will tell us whether or not he's a good fit.

There's a reason RBL finds themselves in the CL Semis. It's really beautiful footy. Definitely a situation where you don't break what got ya there too. As hoped, this has been a really good match! Def tune in if you can.

Agreed, this one has been very entertaining so far. Both teams look... hungry.

Really bad head to head clash in midfield with a fair amount of blood drawn.

To state the obvious, Leipzig is missing Werner in the final third. They haven't had any trouble pushing Atletico back, but they've created few clear chances in the box.

I don't think Nagelsmann will have any complaints about how the central midfield situation is looking, unless they begin to tire in the 2nd half.

Atletico has been causing a little bit of trouble down the Leipzig right side. So if Nagelsmann feels that area needs strengthening in the 2nd half, then Adams is a possibility there.

Still 0-0 41'. Best opportunities for Atletico, but not many of them. RBL actually more aggressive and have had more of the ball.

ATM are playing their game, forcing Leipzig to take up the possession, but solidly clogging up their vertical game while looking to hit on the counter or a set piece. There have been some chances generated as a result, but other than the header that I think Upamecano put in straight at the keeper towards the end of the half, nothing too contested.

    We're at half!

And super lame with their cry-baby antics... it all comes from the coach.

With respect to Adams... If I am the coach I am probably holding him a bit longer than normal because the three CDMs ahead of him on the depth chart: Sabitzer, Laimer and Kampl are playing one heck of a game right now. If RBL goes up by a goal then I think you bring Adams in right away but until then... maybe stick with the guys that have knack at getting forward. You guys are right... Adams needs to work on that aspect of his game. He seems to be a more traditional 6... sort of like Nagbe. There to clean up the garbage and retain possession.

Intense first half. Both teams playing very high paced. Would say RBL have been the better side. They’ve had a good amount of possession in Athletico’s half. I doubt we’ll see Adams unless RBL gets up a goal and wants to get another defensive player on late in the game.

I was going to say that Atletico under Simeone is the team that has been so good for so long with the least to show for it, but I guess if you count the Europa league they have a decent haul. Only one La Liga, one Copa del Rey for real championships though. Gotta be frustrating to come so close so many times.

There's no tactical sub to be made at half, but Tyler could be an offensive or defensive or fresh legs sub given this squad, how it's going, and the squad's not being 100% match fit.

Precise passing sequence winds up with Sabitzer hitting Olmo in stride on the head, and Olmo flicks it inside the far post. Very nice goal, as all of that possession finally pays off. We'll see if Atletico change tactics.

Up 1-0, they are missing Timo the most for the countering threat.

Didn't play in the knockouts at all, just twice in the groups against Atletico, oddly enough.

Upamecano looks to commit a penalty from the live camera angle, but Lodi gets a yellow for diving from the ref's correct angle. Still, RBL conceding all of the possession after the goal may not age well.

We're all sitting here mad about Adams not starting - neither did Felix, the once upon a time most expensive player in history. But he's on now, and Atletico prepping a second sub, so its time for Nags to start thinking subs.
