Pirlo was an unusually bright player and Dest appears to be bright as well. Pirlo spent time in the US and had difficulties with the US internationally, so there are chances that he not have preconceived notions as to what the American player is like even though Dest is more of a traditionally Dutch player.
He more than likely wouldn't start every game, but Juve does need youth at full back... honestly they need more youth in general as they are one of the oldest squads in Serie A. As a Milan fan I'd hate it but it'd be a good move for Dest I think... and I believe he would qualify as an EU player too
I think that the move out of Ajax, where he's been an academy kid since, like 2013, could be more dislocating than he might anticipate. Of course, it could also be no issue for him but in a perfect world the more settled the team's aministration the better when you're a youngester leaving the nest for the first time. But, as I said, he's got to do it sooner or later and he seems to be wired to step up, so have at it. Pirlo was a clever, solid, insanely professional player. No reason he won't be a solid coach but I have no real idea.
Looks like he will play the second half of today's friendly vs. Utrecht as he starts on the bench. 𝙓𝙄 - Who's got your attention today? 😎#PreSeason #ajautr pic.twitter.com/ZIYwm9JQcK— AFC Ajax (@AFCAjax) August 13, 2020
Dest will start the 2nd half. Mazraouai just conceded a terrible penalty. Fans there-- really distanced. It's really weird to see. Ajax said they are not allowed to chant so it's quiet.
5-0 at the half.... ridiculous. Maz not involved in the goals that I could see and did give up a terrible foul... but I really wasn't watching closely. Hoping for a quality showing from Dest in the 2nd.
First goal he had a tremendous pass that set up the first shot (rebound went in). But that penalty he gave up was really bad. Dest on at RB.
Dest misses a sitter and announcer blames him for the set piece goal. At least partly responsible for the latter but man o man... that miss was really poor. Didn't even get it on target.
Not the best of halves for Dest... aside from the missed sitter the lack of effort to get back on the ball he lost screamed lazy to me. He continues to pass well in tight spaces but he just doesn't seem as sharp as he was when he got the starting role. Kind of diminished down the stretch last season and I am hoping he can regain that form.
I can grasp what you are saying, but it seems a little of an EPL/American point of view that there was something lazy or selfish about the way Pirlo played his role, that running around with your hair on fire all the time is the only correct way to play the game. The guy was an absolute Maestro on the ball. I would bet a fair few coins on the notion that there wasn't one of Pirlo's coaches or teammates who took him aside in his prime and said, "You know, Andrea, you're a great player, but if you hustled a little more, you'd be world-class."
No mention of it from the Ajax deep throat, so not likely. He's out of contract in june 2021, which saves a respectable couple of millions in transfer fee for any club interested. In the epl he can earn about 3 to 5 times more than Ajax will/can offer him. Papers in Spain have suffered big time under the covid lock down of football, as they produced a daily load of pages to sell to fans. Now it's time for fake/make up news to get people buy those papers.
My man, what the hell is the Ajax deep throat? I googled it and nothing safe for work popped up. The first search result was Ajax - Deep Throat and Facesitting. I think you get the gist.
