He didn't say no when asked about going to work under JJ at Benfica... plastic captains and players at this club
Exactly. Dude needs to make a living. He's 31 already, so I can't see him having much of a career moving forward
We must have some huge midfield upgrades coming our way for us to pass on Adrien. Why not take him back when our Mid is shite? Only Sporting pulls crap like this, just like when we declined on Coentrao a couple years ago when he wanted to stay.
Yeah I kinda agree. The way sporting treats its past and current players has always left a bad taste in ny mouth...
Robertone says Sporting was the first club to make an official offer for him and he considers it very special. Maybe he will be coming after all?
Not the case with Nani, Joao Pereira, etc. Look, the dude is a 32 year old box to box midfielder who was deemed surplus to requirements by Monaco and Leicester. He hasn't played in a while. This team lacks creativity. How would Adrien change that? We already have Wendel there. We don't need another body occupying the midfield passing the ball side to side. Adrien would be a waste here. He simply isn't needed. I admire Amorim for telling his straight up.
Wendel at his best has never been close to Adrien at his best. None of the other midfielders we are being linked to are very good either. I'm not saying Adrien is a fantastic player or that he should come back, all im saying is Sporting has a reputation for not treating players very well. Even Nani I don't think was treated particularly well.
I heard Nani and Bruno didn't see eye to eye and we chose Bruno as captain, pushing Nani out. This all stems from lack of leadership IMO, president/director/coach.
Another headache. Remember Bruno Gaspar? Returning to us after olympiakos didnt wanna sign him for 1 mill
I don't blame Olympiakos one bit. Dude is useless. I assume he'll get loaned out or sold for under a million
Due to our track record, i think our chances of acquiring a creative midfielder are very slim. I know he's not the 2016 Adrien, but I'd still take a chance on him. Even as a sub.
Disagree completely. We give ex players opportunities to come back. I mean, we paid their wages. What do we owe them? What did Luis Figo, for example, ever do for this club the moment he left? Fact is, most of our ex players are rat bastards and they haven't treated us well either. Fuck em. Adrien isn't good enough. I'm sorry, he isn't. Aim higher. The dude couldn't get any minutes st club he's played with since he left and he's on the wrong side of 30. Sorry, Adrien, but we need to aim higher. I don't blame Amorim for keeping it real with him. Besides, Adrien decided to try and force his way out of the club the first time, and even had a public interview where he criticized the front office for not allowing him to transfer. Fuck that guy.
If we're gonna play this 3 at the back system with 2 midfielders, we need 2 box to box midfielders, with Battaglia leaving I think Robertone would be a good option. He's been linked to us for a year as a replacement for Bruno, now that we sold him lets get it done.
Man you can't seriously believe that it only goes one way? There's a reason players have glowing comments and want to go back to Benfica and Porto and its not cause only Sporting produces rat bastards. Treat your players good and they treat you good, simple.
And you can't honestly be naive enough to believe that Sporting treats heir ex players terribly either. We've had more players come back to play for us than SLB has. Fact is, when you don't win shit in 20 years, sometimes the feeling isn't mutual. Benfica was winning, so it's easy for players to say they enjoyed their time there rather than watch your team fail time and time again as an SCP player. I'm not seeing SCP is the golden standard for treating your players well. But this bullshit Adrien sob story is exactly that: bullshit. Today's rumours (August 9th) From Jornal Record: Sporting has launched bid for Torino and Brazil U23 international CB Lyanco - the rumoured bid is 6 million euros for 60% of his rights. The defender is valued at around 12 million The board is hoping to make 15 million euros from 'fodder' players that are not in the plans for next season From Jornal A Bola and O Jogo: Adan will be a Sporting player, signing from Atletico Madrid and expected to give Max competition for the #1 spot - he's rumoured to get around 700K/year
Today's rumours (Aug. 10th) From Jornal Record: Adan is a done deal and will be announced after the Champions League final (Atletico is still participating) Lyanco's father confirmed negotiations with us, with Lille and Bordeaux also interested in the defender From Jornal A Bola, Torino rejected our offer for Lyanco.
The lack of any signings or rumours of at least halfway decent players is starting to get concerning..
Meanwhile Braga is signing players and building their squad with experience and quality like Gaitan. They know 3rd spot is crucial. Meanwhile we apparently have no money for any good signings and looking at more low cost signings (and supposedly we've been planning this next season since January)
Today's rumours (Aug. 11) From Jornal Record: Ruben Amorim wants Famalicao midfielder Pedro Gonçalves, he's been linked to Porto so far but the midfielder, who was Famalicao's best player in their stellar season, could join us in a money + player swap deal Rio Ave winger Nuno Santos, who was linked to us but then rumoured to be heading to Porto as well, is back on our radar From Jornal A Bola, they're saying Arsenal made an improved bid for Joelson, 32 million euros, but were rejected. Also unrelated, but a personal opinion. Valencia is having a fire sale, they just sold Coquelin for 8 mill and Parejo for free, we should really look at their squad. For example Daniel Wass would be an excellent pick-up.
