He had a thigh injury and was a doubt for the game. He pulled another injury at the end (not sure if it's the same thigh injury though).

Argentine players still participating in international UEFA competitions:

Papu Gomez, Jose Luis Palomino (Atalanta)
    Icardi, Paredes, Di Maria (PSG)
    Messi (Barcelona)
    Angel Correa (Atletico Madrid)
    Aguero, Otamendi (Manchester City)
    -----

Sergio Romero, Marcos Rojo* (Manchester United)
    Ocampos, Banega, Mudo Vazquez (Sevilla)
    Lautaro Martinez (Inter)
    Alario, Exequiel Palacios (Bayer Leverkusen)

Not sure if Nehuen Perez is back at Atletico from his loan? The deal was originally due to expire at the end of June. For now, I haven't heard anything of him renewing with Famalicão, where he has been thoroughly praised for his performances this season, but also no word of a return to Spain either.

Regarding Nehuen Perez, I tried googling some information about his future, but couldn't find anything. However, I did find this heavy praise from one of his teammates, Toni Martinez:

"When I saw him train the first time, I said it was impossible for him to be 19 years old. With the ball he's great, and without the ball better. If not next year, I risk saying that in two or three years he will be one of the best in the world."

The fans love him, the press has constantly given him praise, and now even his teammates seem to be in awe of his conditions. Glad to see him continue his steady growth..

On a side note, apparently Ajax were preparing an offer for him prior to the corona virus outbreak. Should Simeone decide he doesn't have a spot in his roster, I'm sure there will be plenty of interested parties.

Atletico might be selling Gimenez, so there could be room for him. That would be great. Cholo seems to have ruined a couple of our attacking players but maybe the defense would be something else.

They shouldn’t have risked him. I understand that they were desperate but he came on for less than 15 minutes when he pulled up. Good way to look after your future .

It must be weird and satisfying at the same time for Messi with LPB & Juve out in one night but his current terrible team somehow still in the competition and could possible have a deep run. I dont see any dominant team this season... or perhaps it could be another Porto vs Monaco type of final...

Even if Barcelona manage to progress v Napoli, they’d still have to go through Bayern and possibly City to even reach the final. Granted, once it goes into the QF and it is a single game elimination, anything can happen but Barcelona have looked quite bad throughout the year where they’ve relied on Messi. But again; at a single, I wouldn’t count out Messi.

If Messi doesn’t hoist the trophy, I’d like to see either Cholo get his CL trophy, where he’s been very unlucky in both finals or Atalanta win it.

Is Atlanta vs Atletico Madrid final a possiblty? If Messi and Barca dont win it, I'd be rooting for them.

City is city, they never look convincing in CL even when they win a match, you just have a feeling that in any other day, this team is more than beatable. Also , City form in the league has been been worst than Barca.

Even though Barca is in bad form, somehow their chance in CL just getting higher in all sudden. No more Liverpool, Juventus and Real madrid. Psychologically, its already an adventage for them.

No wonder Dybala was rightly voted as best player in serie A since CR mostly scored tap in and penalties. Dude has 17 penalties in all competitions. I believe that will boost his chance to be Balon winner lol. There's no doubt without his existance , Dybala stats would have been waaay higher.

No, the winner of Atlanta v PSG will play the winner of Atletico v Leipzig in the semis.

And indeed, Cristiano took away Dybala’s PK’s and FK’s. If Juve were awarded the same amount of PK’s, Dybala’s goal tally would be in the 30s, since he’d score a few free kicks as well.

So, now, Juve could sack Sarri... and the rumor(s) are Conte, if he leaves Inter (where... Allegri will take over Inter(sigh)), which will be a shitshow or Poch, which will be fine in my book. Poch wanted Dybala at Tottenham last year and perhaps Poch would still be there if they managed to land Dybala a year ago. But perhaps somebody like Gasperini will take over, who has done a wonderful job at Atalanta.

Messi with an absolutely ludicrous, unfair goal. How he managed to curl that in from the ground is beyond me. I thought that play was dead two or three times before he scored.

It really should have been another hattrick performance. One was denied by VAR, one he gave it to Suarez . When Barca fouled Napoli, the ref needed no VAR, but when Messi got kicked so hard, the ref actually needed VAR before decided lol

Some European leagues are already back.i In Belgium, Colidio scores for St. Truiden and Colombatto was in the line-up.
Russia is also back... Gaich came in as a sub for CSKA.

So, there are rumors circulating that Cristiano might go to PSG. Now, these things are a bit tricky since all the financial aspects that are involved. But I wouldn’t be surprised if this occurs. This would perhaps be good news for Dybala BUT also, I suspect PSG would turn around and offer Icardi and cash for Ronaldo. Icardi has wanted to return to Italy and Inter did not want him to go to a rival so they allowed the sale to PSG. Juve has also been interested in him as well and their forward line-up would become instantly younger. This would be interesting having Icardi and Dybala play as club teammates.

But I can only imagine if Ronaldo goes to PSG and there is a penalty and Neymar, Cristiano and Mbbape all run up to the ball, especially Ney and CR7...:ROFLMAO:

Aranguiz is suspended so hopefully we will see Palacios vs L. Martinez's Inter

Palacios is starting but he did start last game too with Aranguiz. So, he's finally starting to settle in. He played great to so, hopefully he continues to progress. Could be a blessing in disguise the copa was pushed back. As I said it gives Lisandro, Perez, Senesi Palacios and Lo Celso time to progress.

Would've been like a typical CR7 hat-trick. i.e. PK, handball and golazo. Doesn't matter, people universally recognize that Messi had a great match. If they let that hand ball go then the controversy may have overshadowed Messi's performance (since Barca already had one questionable goal that was allowed).

Well, the previous game vs Rangers he started because Baumgartlinger was unavailable, while today Aranguiz was suspended. When both of them are available, it is likely Palacios will return to being a sub.

However, considering how before he wouldn't even be utilized as one of the five subs in the Bundesliga, he does appear to be gaining prominence within the squad.

Italian sports media, SportMedia.it are stating that either Dybala or Ronaldo will be sold-off. Could be just a rumor but Juve are willing to sell Dybala if they get get an offer for a 100ME. Dybala has been seeking a bigger contract and Juve have been dragging their feet. They’re looking to dump some salary, which was the reason they couldn’t afford a regular coach. Poch wanted 10ME per year and they couldn’t afford that. With Covid, the loss of ticket sales and losing out on 30ME in the CL since they failed to qualify for the QF’s, this might be more than smoke.

He had one of his best seasons but maybe it is time for him to get up and leave Italy. He’s won everything there but Juve fans want him to stay.

So, is Messi going to join City now? Best option for him.
