Do you have crazy eyes right now??? Zizou made the mistake of leaving in his starters because he believed what was happening on the pitch was working. Did you hear even players saying they played well in the first half?? Wtf. So obviously they saw things different from us. Zizou has done this before. A habit he learnt from Carlo. Leaving the starters in because he thinks things are going ok. Rarely does he make subs when we think he should. Everyone was surprised when he brought on Mariano so early in that one game. Anyway......... the point is...... does politics exist? Yes. Do people in high power positions use situations to leverage future demands. Yes. Do I think Zizou would borderline throw a knock out game to do that. Absolutely not.
Yeah Zizou making late subs is not evidence of him throwing the game. It actually supports the opposite since that is what he always does.
Zizou threw the game in that he made a lot of bad decisions but do I think he actually didn’t want to win? Nah.
It was just one of those WTH is Zizou thinking type of matches. He’s had them before. It’s unfortunate it was in the CL vs City and not at home against Elche.
If this was the case, I would want him fired. And I think he’s the best manager for us, but I’d still want him gone. It would be a total lack of ethics and he seems to live and die by his ethics. If he wants to send a message to Florentino I believe he has a mouth which could be used to communicate this message. I highly doubt he didn’t do what he thought was best to get the result at the time.
TBH Zidane just ********ed up and it's not the first time. His subs have been poor for most of his career and that showed last night. When his starting 11 isn't doing well, he rarely manages to change things up drastically. We also gotta give credit to City, they are imo one of the most difficult teams for us to play against. They were very disciplined and focused, kudos to them. He can't be fired, he's the best possible coach for us and because of that, we have to accept his shortcomings too.
ZZ was as animated as I have seen him on the sidelines when Benz had that chance at 1-1 in the second half. He badly wanted to win yesterday, but the whole team's head went down after 2nd Varane mistake. Making impactful subs especially when we are chasing the game has never been ZZ's strength so I don't see anything unusual about that.
That has been his problem. Most of us saw the same thing about him before the break. I am not good at judging coaches. Somehow, I can see a lot of faults in him. His over reliance with veterans is not new. I think most of us can see the same thing. But in the end, he won more trophies than anyone in RM's history, which is more important than anything else. He won La Liga this season and he is staying here. From 2002 to 2014, we did not win a CL. I can see another 12 years drought without Zidane. With Zidane, I can see us winning it again soon.
I seriously doubt Zidane threw away the game just to get Perez's attention. That's pretty insane. if Zidane did do that, he's done to the wrong person - Perez is not someone to succumb to pressure, 20 years in real madrid and plenty of players that were sold or left out will tell you that. I just don't buy it. it is just a matter that he is just an average coach. nothing extraordinary. great motivator (maybe), great with young players, but lack any kind management adaptability/thinking outside the box - something that most great coaches has. please don't bring the titles he won, they are all his fair and square, but he would not win them without CR. Its simple as that.
We already know that message will fall on deaf ears and we have seen what happens when he is fed up. He'll retire.
Do you? Is that why he made no adaptation, adjustment or sigificant substitute after they scored on us needing us to score twice in regular time? Is this how he acted when we lost to Betis? When? People keep repeating this dumb shit trying to make it fact. He has not subbed when we are leading, but when we are losing and we need to score he always makes a move or adaptation. We may not agree with what he does, but he has never just sat on his hands till the 83rd minute. Never.
Dont think Zidane is so petty that he would throw away the chance of winning the Champions League just because the Club didnt drop 200M on Pogba that too in a Summer where the Club dropped 250M on 4 Players (Excluding Rodrygo). 200M on 3 of them specifically asked by Zidane himself. On paper we had one of the best transfer window last summer. Wrapped up all signings within a week. Its a shame 2 of those signings have turned out to be absolute busts so far for whatever reasons. Really hope both the players can turn around theirs as well as the club's fortunes next season. I dont see lack of transfers as the issue. Issue is our signings that too in attack department where we are already thin didnt work out. If they can get back to their best our team's set.. A backup DM would be great though.
A back up DM Is a must, we’ve gotten really lucky that Casemiro didn’t get any injuries this season, also we need reinforcements in attack as well because even If we get the best version of Hazard back then we’re again 1 injury away from being back to where we currently are.
Bar one or two games where we played really well, this last season was complete and utter disaster in terms of performances on the pitch. And yes, we won La Liga and that is great, but it was mostly because the rest of the teams were even shittier than us. When faces with proper competition on an international level we choked immediately. I am not convinced by Zidane's ability to lead the team at all. That does not diminish his legendary status, but I see no reason why next year will be any different at all with regards to how we play, having seen how Zidane operates through the years. The only positives from this last season were the fact that Thibaut found his rhythm, Mendy's performances (except his crossing skills) and that Kroos kind of improved his game after the utter crap at the the beginning of the season. How much of this can be attributed to Zidane, I don't know. I think the last game vs Man City pretty much sums up the state of the team.
I can’t think of any statement that’s less true than this, we’ve played very well in many games this season, even in some we didn’t end up winning, talk about blowing things out of proportion. You’re still questioning Zidane‘a ability to lead the team after he came back and took a squad that didn’t win anything last year and gave them the league despite many of its components underperforming or not being a factor at all?
Funny we are being judged on two games in CL vs City. When runaway PL leaders Liverpool couldn't even have a shot on goal at Wanda. We beat Atlético who are in QF knocking out Liverpool, but all the competition was shittier than previous years suddenly? Sevilla are way better than last season. Even Barca haven't regressed that much if CL is the yardstick. We beat them all in La Liga.
That’s a harsh assessment of the season as a whole and it’s probably something to do with the above assessment that you’re clouding with the league triumph. They’re two different beasts. In the league we saw the best defence I’ve ever seen from Madrid since I’ve started watching football, and that’s worth celebrating. In the CL we gave up up a 2-0 lead over PSG with 10 mins left and conceded 1st place in the group, against City in the first leg we conceded a further 2 weak goals with 5 mins to go, second leg goes without saying, it was our weakest defence in continental comps since Lewa sent us packing in 2013. When we’ve won the CL in past years we’ve looked very assured, in those same years in the league .. not so much.
Uncharacteristic individual errors in CL which hasn't happened for us in many years apart from a couple from GK(Navas had one mistake each against Napoli and Juve). Ramos losing aerial duel to G. Jesus and two schoolboy errors by Varane in two games in a single tie never happened in our shit defense days of 2003-06 in CL.
Yep, and this Barcelona isn’t any worst than the one that beat us handily in the league last season, Zidane has his faults for sure but people’s obsession with trying to discredit him is just mind boggling.
Idk about Barcelona. They really looked bad this season. Has nothing to do with Zidane. I am all for giving him credit. I just enjoy Barcelona's decay
For me at least, simply losing against City was not the issue at all. We went there needing 2 goals and early on got it down to 1. The game was there for winning but some of the choices made it look like we were deliberately throwing the game.
We are not convincing @YOUNGSTARS87 The man has committment to his beliefs and I respect that and many times he ends up being right He once tried to convince people including myself that I didn't listen to hip hop growing up after I questioned Benzema's decision to appear in rap videos
It's not throwing a game, it's half-assing it. If you guys think what we saw was Zidane's best then you've been asleep the last half-decade.
I think you forgot how bad Barcelona were last season lol imagine that despite how bad we were there was a week when we close the point gap to 6 and had the chance to close it to 3 by beating them in the Clasico but we lost of course, they had the same issues last year as they do now, couldn’t win away from home.
