we will be competing with the soccer powers of the world when we have 4 or 5 haji wrights flaming out at a given time
If you're looking for some Chris/Richie content, here it is. They're both in it, Chris more so than Richie. He gets an assist in a training exercise at 4:08, skinned at 5:10, and a nice ice bath at 8:45.
As far as Nico Carrera goes, its always important to let your new employers know as early as possible that you're not committed to them. He hasn't even played a damn game for his new U19 team of a mid-table Bund2 team, and he's talking about the next step. But anyway, enough of that..................I suspect the rumor mill for Antonee Robinson is going to start now that Wigan has officially been relegated. One of the immediate effects of Wigan's relegation is that Antonee Robinson can now leave for short of £2m, thanks to a clause in his contract. As many as four PL clubs are interested and movement is not likely to be far away. West Ham among those sniffing.— Mike Keegan (@MikeKeegan_DM) August 4, 2020
re carrera: if they pitched themselves as an intermediate stop on his overall development path they cant turn around and be too upset that he views them as an intermediate step on his development path
Pretty much every player who is not at one of the biggest clubs in the world says openly that their goal is to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world. It's probably OK for young people to admit they're ambitious. Of course, if Carrera moves to Barcelona some day, and then loses in the Champions League final to Holstein Kiel, well, who's laughing now?
I understand, and I think its OK to have these talks with advisors and family. It just seems that in 21st century soccer, kids have these plans in place before they've actually accomplished anything. I mean, Nico Carrera has done nothing. He's yet to show he's good enough for Holstein Kiel U19s and he's already talking about taking the next step to the press. Sometimes I wish kids would just slow down, take a deep breath, and focus on excelling at the club they're currently at. When somebody in the press asks it, you just say "I'm focused right now on excelling at Holstein Kiel. We'll worry about what comes next at a later time." This sounds like a criticism of Nico. Its not. They all do it.

In other news, Spurs have reportedly named their price for Carter-Vickers. https://www.footballinsider247.com/...sell-international-for-2-5m-as-price-tumbles/ "Tottenham are willing to sell defender Cameron Carter-Vickers for around £2.5million this summer, Football Insider has learned." "As revealed by Football Insider this week, Luton Town are keen on signing Carter-Vickers permanently. But his price and wages make a deal difficult for the cash-conscious outfit following their narrow escape from Championship relegation."
It's not enough data to really suggest a trend but the Wright (more last year's move than this year's, but still) and DLT moves are interesting to me in the context of Americans who were at "big clubs" (defined as European clubs whose first teams play at levels that, given reasonably good performance, a player might be expected to be in or around the core of the MNT depth chart) and then moved to other European clubs near/just below that level while still in YNT age bands and without much on their pro resumes from a first-team perspective. Yes, that was way too long of a sentence. This is a pretty normal thing if you're European -- say, you go to England young, then come back to your home country and relaunch your career in earnest at a solid club in Denmark or Germany or whatever at 21 or so. Americans like this have often ended up back in the U.S. or further down the European ladder. Akale is kind of a big one hanging out there.
There are a lot of these players who just seem to disappear after being discarded by their big Euro club. Shaft Brewer, Zyen Jones. They moved back to the states, but were quickly discarded. I don't think either of them are on a club for 2020. Their careers might be over. The list goes on with similar cases. I haven't heard a peep of a rumor about Akale. So for a young player like de la Torre to get a re-start at a club in the Eredevisie is really nice for him. Having that Euro passport really helps to open additional doors.
Training from PSV today. Starting at 27:40 is a minigame where Richie is on one side and Chris is on the other. Really fun to watch. There's a lot of notes to pick out but I won't spoil, it's a great use of 15 minutes in my opinion.
SC Telstar will make a decision on whether to sign Norwich City striker Sebastian Soto on loan later this week, according to their boss Andries Jonker. https://t.co/0H6GFNPMiA— The Pink Un (@pinkun) August 6, 2020
Gotta say, I would've hoped Soto was a no-brainer signing for a second-division Dutch team, though maybe there's a financial aspect we're not privy to.
I don't see this as a good thing, and I don't understand why a player would make a move like this. Does he not think he could make it with a 3rd division professional club? Can he not even get a pro contract somewhere in Germany? Otherwise, this isn't going to help his career advance forward. Maloney leaves Union Berlin and moves to BVB II. They play in the Regionalliga West in the German 4th division.https://t.co/eJ6AxrdoiS— Daniel (@DanielSmith1022) August 7, 2020 Similar situation. Not rated by the club if he's playing with the reserves. He's going to be 20 years old next month. He needs to be playing first team football. Being the oldest starter in a reserve team doesn't do his career much good. Alex Mendez played the whole match for Jong Ajax in a 3-2 friendly loss to Jong AZ.Good sign that he went the distance in a preseason match.— Daniel (@DanielSmith1022) August 8, 2020
Not too bad. He should be back for the first game of the new season or a game or two after that. 1290654639411597313 is not a valid tweet id I wouldn't get my hopes up too much because he hasn't even been a regular for the reserves for any prolonged amount of time (mostly due to injury), but Schalke is a team that can't afford to bring in many players because they are in terrible financial trouble. If they get some injuries, Taitague could find his way into some minutes. He's always been a talented player, so maybe he could be able to take the big step up to the Bundesliga, if he gets those minutes. 1291399278225690626 is not a valid tweet id Here's an example of how much our player pool has improved in even the last five years. 20 year old player putting up good numbers at a pretty good level (equivalent level league to MLS), yet no one even talks about this guy. I haven't heard him mentioned in what must be over a year. Rightfully so, as well. He's not a top option in his age group, but even the lesser options are capable of having success at a young age. 1291449361780613120 is not a valid tweet id

Jong Ajax is a decent level for a guy who hasn't been able to string together many 90 minute games. Alex needs to prove he can be a regular starter and a difference maker at this level before he can even get a chance to move elsewhere. Novakovich spent his year at Telstar as a 20 year old. That got him a move to Sittard and eventually Frosinone. Now you want to argue Alex should be aiming better than Serie B sure, but the only way to do that is to play. Jong Ajax isn't beneath him at this point and the 2nd division is professional.
Richards doesn't even make the bench. There are 23 players in the squad. They have an '03 CB on the bench, and their new French '02 CB isn't even eligible to play in this game. Richards needs to leave, either on loan or a permanent transfer. I hope the interest thats been talked up all summer is real, and not just agent-driven. ⭐ Unsere XI für #FCBCFC ⭐#PACKMAS 👊 #UCL pic.twitter.com/eNt0nvxGI8— FC Bayern München (@FCBayern) August 8, 2020 Consider the source, but it looks like these are the two main clubs in contention to sign Robinson. Leicester and West Brom have also been rumored as potential destinations. I think Robinson needs to go somewhere where he'll play every week. I read a recent interview where he said thats what he's going to try to do with this upcoming transfer, which is a good idea. You can always move up to a higher level, if you play well. If you don't play, it won't matter what level club you're at. David Moyes is battling AC Milan to land Wigan’s USA defender Antonee Robinson in a cut-price £1.5million deal. When stuff like this happens, it's obvious something is in the works. Things do fall through. Expect news soon.
Monaco doesn't sound like a bad destination for McKennie. They won't be participating in European competitions this upcoming season, but usually do. He didn't string those together last year because other players were preferred. I don't think it's a good comparison to compare guys playing first team football in the second division to players playing reserve team football in the second division. You are right that players can still have success if they are playing in this division at 20, but I don't think anyone is suggesting that Mendez can't have success as a pro. The Ajax name is flashy, but I think he needs to find his level of professional football. While his peers are playing every week for a first team, he's still playing reserve football. Novakovich was playing first team football in the Dutch second division. I also think Mendez still has some hype to his name. I think he could get a good deal somewhere. Another underwhelming year, and I don't know about it.
