How much more does Olimpia need to get 5 points to be the best or tied for the best outside of North America? Costa Rica already has 2 above 1, and Honduras 2 could end above Honduras 1. If Olimpia gets a win and a loss, how many points would that be?
So advancing and the results for the advancing club combine for 7, 5, 4, or 3. If Olimpia advances with a win and loss, they would get 4, and just need 1 point from the Semifinals to reach 5. https://www.fifa.com/news/the-week-in-numbers-x4664 says: "3 goalkeepers have now scored in the Concacaf Champions League after Nahuel Guzman’s 94th-minute header dramatically saved Tigres and eliminated Alianza. Federico Vilar netted a brilliant free-kick for Olimpia in 2008, while Houston Dynamo’s Tally Hall bizarrely found the target the following year with a punt forward from just outside his own box." That means Guzman was the first goalkeeper on a Mexican club to score in the CCL.
The mistake is FIFA's (@EvanJ directly quoted them). Vilar must've scored for Atlante against Olimpia in the group stage of that tournament.

Champions league is suspended - and the LA game tonight isn't happening. 1238135688454758402 is not a valid tweet id
I can't see restarting is an option for months. Mexico is no where near peaking yet, let alone plateauing, and they've now cancelled the Clausura. I'd be worried about 2021 at this point.
Restarting in a normal capacity, no chance. With the Costa Rican league restarting though, I was wondering if anyone had seen rumors of a plan akin to MLS and Orlando.
Costa Rica is in a whole different league (pun intended) with this though. Very low rates compared to the four nations still in Champions league - and peaked weeks ago. Mexico is showing no sign of peaking yet - and Honduras isn't much better. I don't see getting these teams together - and little point finishing the tournament at this point.
Finally, we have an update from Concacaf...sort of. The main takeaways: 1) The plan to resume the CCL isn't yet finalized. 2) Going back to the backyard-barbecue model of playing the rest of the tournament in one city is on the table (all things considered, my top candidates would be Montreal, LA or Mexico City). 3) Concacaf, at least for now, expects to send the champion to a 2020 FIFA Club World Cup.
It really makes me wonder how CONCACAF did not decide to follow another UEFA's footstep and play the rest of the tournament somewhere in the US.
Isn't Canada safer as far as COVID-19 goes? And without crowds, I don't think the USA is a more profitable venue. I wonder if the real reason though is that club teams don't have time to go into a bubble after their domestic league commitments.
Safer, yes, but more difficult from a logistical standpoint (entry restrictions at present, winter conditions down the line...).
All the American NHL teams are bubbling in Toronto or Edmonton. There's ways of doing it in Canada, if everyone is willing to follow a strict protocol, testing, and some quarantine on entry (essentially it's considered a group quarantine, so you don't even need the full 14-days). Baseball was an issue, because they wanted to fly in and out every few days, with multiple trips to Covid-hot spots like Miami. And a long-time before winter is an issue ... if they play on Vancouver Island (where the National Team was supposed to play in April 2020) they could do it year-round. Heck, even in Toronto they've played MLS matches in early December and Champions League in late February. And they've also played Champions League indoors in stadiums in Toronto and Montreal in the past. (yeah, I know the newish Blue Jays diamond causes problems with that now in Toronto ... but it's still doable in the middle of the winter ... just more expensive and more days work to convert).
