Rafael Santos Borre is being linked to FC Porto. The 24-year-old currently has one year remaining on his contract with River and may be on the move due to a combination of contractual factors.

I could actually see such a move happening, given the Portuguese side's extensive history of acquiring young Colombian talent -- Falcao, James Rodriguez, Jackson Martinez, Guarin, Luis Diaz, etc. In the case that FCP presents an offer, it remains to be seen if they choose to negotiate with River or Atletico Madrid.

Fernando Valenzuela, the 23-year-old Barracas Central forward who has been a regular member of the U-23 NT in recent years, has been offered to River. Gallardo has been keeping a close eye on him, but for now hasn't specifically requested they make a move.

Gonzalo Montiel, who has been linked to West Ham, Valencia, Crystal Palace, Betis, Bayer Leverkusen, and other European sides, is now being mentioned as a possible Torino reinforcement. His agent admitted that River received (and rejected) a $15M offer for Montiel prior to the corona virus pandemic, but that nowadays it will be impossible to receive such a proposal

Matias Moya's loan with Banfield has come to an end, although his future is uncertain since he won't be in Gallardo's plans. Alan Picazzo (Villa Dalmine), Zacarias Moran Correa (Chacarita), Ivan Rossi (Colo Colo), and Joaquin Arzura (Huracan) are all in the same situation.

Luciano Lollo is practically set to renew his loan with Banfield for another year.

Lanus want to retain Carlos Auzqui, but are unwilling to pay the $3,000,000 buyout clause. Since Gallardo doesn't have him in his plans, the two sides are negotiating a potential new loan deal. However, since Auzqui's contract is set to expire in June 2021, River will look to extend his deal until 2022 first in order to not lose him on a free transfer at the end of the season in the case he does well..

No official confirmation on Jorge Moreira's situation with the Portland Timbers (his loan is set to expire next month and Portland haven't activated his buyout clause), although it is being said that FIFA may prolong contracts for six months due to the pandemic, meaning he may remain on loan until the end of the year.

In the case Moreira returns to River, he was originally going to be ineligible to play due to all 6 foreigner slots being occupied. However, it appears Borre and De La Cruz are on the verge of being nationalized, meaning River will soon be able to add 2 more foreign players to the squad if desired.

Nahuel Gallardo (Defensa y Justicia), David Martinez (Defensa y Justicia), and Tomas Andrade (Argentinos Juniors) will all remain on loan with their respective clubs til June 2021.

Augusto Battalla (O'Higgins) and Maxi Velazco (Cobreloa) are on loan in Chile until the end of the year. In the case of Velazco, Cobreloa are looking into the possibility of buying the 25-year-old's transfer now since it could save them some money in the long run ($625,000 buyout clause if bought before June, $850,000 by December)

Surprisingly (or maybe not), River maintain a €2,500,000 debt with Karpaty (Ukraine) for the transfer of Jorge Carrascal. A bit alarming, since this means River haven't submitted any payments since the acquisition of his original loan. It is worth noting that Juventus, Fiorentina, and Ajax have all been linked with the 22-year-old Colombian by the press.

Ezequiel Garay is about to finish his contract with Valencia and will be released as a free agent.

Let me be clear: he hasn't been linked to River, but he could be an interesting alternative for defense in the case that Martinez Quarta leaves the club. He may not be the youngest player (33), but he was always a solid defender for both club and country. It is worth noting that he is in the process of recovering from an injury, so we have to see where his fitness stands.

Of course Rojas should get priority playing time, but Garay could be an experienced option to bring in for cheap considering Pinola's advanced age (37) and MQ's European future..

Gallardo has informed both Enrique Bologna and German Lux of his intentions on counting on them next season due to the “value” they bring to the group as a whole.

The two will now have to reach an agreement with D’Onofrio in order to finally extend their contracts, which at the moment are due to expire at the end of next month. Both players are expected to take wage cuts due to the pandemic’s impact on club finances, although it is unknown for the moment if they will accept the terms or choose to move elsewhere.

I’m sure Chiarini’s recent words about regretting leaving the club to this day will be echoing in their heads when it comes to making a decision.

Pumas UNAM are after Franco Armani, who has 2 years remaining on his contract with River and possesses a $20M release clause. Not that I want Armani gone in any way, but I would have taken this opportunity to sell him and bring back Barovero... it's a shame Trapito just signed with a small Spanish side days ago

Lanus are interested in renewing Carlos Auzqui's loan, but it appears he may be heading to Mexico.. The press was mentioning a supposed $1,000,000 offer from Monterrey for the 29-year-old former Estudiantes winger, although his agent has denied that the Rayados are the specific club seeking him:

Both Nacho Fernandez himself and his agent have spoken in recent days about their interest in "evaluating" offers for a move. While no formal proposal is on the table at the moment, there wouldn't be a lack of interested parties in the case that D'Onofrio decides to put him in the market. For one, he's still Chacho Coudet's fetish to reinforce Internacional. Unfortunately the COVID crisis may push River to sell, as well as serve as an incentive for the players to seek new airs due to their diminishing contracts.

Apparently Ignacio Scocco will announce his decision in the coming weeks. In River they believe he will confirm his move to Newell's, but who knows... maybe he'll surprise us.

Lucas Pratto is being sought by multiple Brazilian clubs, although they are offering to acquire him on loan with an optional buyout clause -- something River is not interested in. Considering how unlikely clubs are to offer big numbers with all the financial troubles at the moment, we can pretty much expect the 32-year-old to continue at the club.

Lastly, River are in talks with Fiorentina regarding the possible transfer of Lucas Martinez Quarta, although the Italian side has made it clear that they do not intend on paying the buyout clause stipulated in the 24-year-old's contract.

    Chau Nacho :(

"¡Gracias, Nacho! Muchos éxitos en esta nueva etapa".

Gonzalo Montiel's agent has notified D'Onofrio that he is expecting an offer to come through for the right-back in the near future. No word yet on which club (multiple sides from various European leagues are watching him), although the hypothetical offer will very likely be accepted if it ranges between €8-10M.

    - Fabricio Bustos (Independiente) has been offered to River by his agent. El Rojo is currently undergoing financial turmoil and the 24-year-old rightback is seeking a possible exit. If Montiel leaves, he could be an option, but for now River will not be making any moves.

    --------

River has been contacted with two different proposals for the possible loan of Juan Fernando Quintero, the more concrete one being from Qatar. However, the idea is to either directly sell him or keep him, rather than simply sending him out temporarily to another team.

    --------

Chacarita looking to renew Zacarias Moran Correa's loan contract.

    - The 24-year-old, who previously represented Argentina at the U-17 WC, appeared 7 times this season for the funebreros before the halt of football caused by the COVID pandemic.
    - It is worth noting that Moran Correa's contract with River expires in one year (June 2021). Typically in these situations the club extends the player's contract for another year before sending them out on loan in order to avoid losing a player who has a good season on a free transfer (as has happened with other "unwanted" players like Lollo, Andrade, Batalla, etc.). However, in this case they may just consider terminating his contract given the severe decline this midfielder has taken in recent years after his severe injury.
    --------

Emelec interested in purchasing Luciano Lollo's transfer

    - Although the 33-year-old was practically set to renew his loan with Banfield for another season, the Ecuadorian side has shown up at the table expressing an interest in the former Belgrano defender.
    - No formal proposal yet, although the offer is expected to be for a low figure (nowhere near the $3.5M river paid in 2016). However, River is willing to listen as they'd prefer to simply get their hands off of Lollo once and for all rather then having him return from a loan again in 2021.

    --------

    Matias Moya
will not continue at Banfield and is attracting interest from abroad

    - The 22-year-old is being sought by clubs from Peru and Ecuador, although he is open to other offers as well.
    - In the 2019/20 season, Moya only appeared 5 times for Banfield (twice as a starter). Coincidentally, all 5 games were losses. Furthermore, his last official appearance was all the way back in October.
    --------

Ivan Rossi has his future in his own hands

    - The 24-year-old midfielder's contract expires in just 15 days, although he has received a proposal from River to extend his deal until 2022. However, it has also been made clear to him that he is not in Gallardo's plans and would be sent out on loan again if he decides to stay.
    - Alternatively, Rossi has received an offer from Huracan to join as a free agent. He previously played for El Globo on loan during the 2018/19 season, before joining Colo Colo.

    --------

Cristian Ferreira has received two loan offers (one local and one from abroad), although Gallardo has not yet decided if he wants to count with him next season or let him seek regular playing time elsewhere.

    --------

Atletico San Luis--the same club who took Mayada as a free agent--are keeping a close eye on Carlos Auzqui. River are hoping to receive a transfer offer from the Mexicans for the 29-year-old in the coming weeks.

    --------

For now, River will desist from seeking a replacement for Ignacio Scocco, as Gallardo's plan is to begin utilizing Julian Alvarez more (with Beltran and Girotti as alternatives). However, if Rafael Santos Borre leaves (Betis have expressed interest), Gallardo will likely seek a new forward to reinforce the squad.

CSKA Moscow have presented a €7M offer for Jorge Carrascal. Although the offer was turned down, River is willing to re-negotiate terms and let him go for as little as €8-9M, a far cry from the €20M release clause established in the 22-year-old's contract. No response yet from the Russians, but it's hard to imagine that they'd call the deal off over a mere €1-2M difference.

River bought the Colombian from the Ukrainian side Karpaty at the beginning of the year for approximately $3M, meaning the club could make a decent profit selling him for roughly three times what they paid for his transfer just a few months ago.

In recent days it became known that River collectively owes $10.5M in transfer debts, including some from Carrascal's move (the rest pertains to the arrivals of Quintero, Paulo Diaz, De La Cruz, Angileri, and Suarez). To avoid being fined by FIFA, the club must move quickly to sell, and the Colombian seems like an attractive option given his current rotational status within the squad.

Montiel, Martinez Quarta, and Borre are other candidates to leave due to their appeal to European clubs because of age/talent, as well as the fact that all three currently have less than 12 months remaining on their contracts.

Nicolas De La Cruz, who was practically set to extend his contract until 2022, has put conversations on hold after news of a $1M debt over his transfer surfaced. Paco Casal, the Uruguayan's agent, made this press release clarifying that the 23-year-old is now on his final year of contract with the club (will he leave on a free like his brother Carlos Sanchez did?):

Santiago Sosa, whose €13M transfer to Everton collapsed in 2019 after failing to acquire a UK work permit, is another player who the club could risk losing on a free transfer if they don't move quickly (his current deal expires June 2021). The club believes there shouldn't be an issue regarding his renovation, but until the pen touches paper....

    Lucas Beltran
, River's top scorer in the reserves during the 2019/20 season, also has yet to renew his contract as it enters its final year. The 19-year-old, who made a brief 7 minute debut in 2018 vs. Gimnasia (a few days before the Libertadores final vs. Boca), has been described by his former youth coach in the Septima Division as having similar characteristics to those of Sebastian Driussi.

On the other hand, Julian Alvarez, recently extended his contract til December 2022. Federico Girotti, whom River rejected a €3M offer for from Torino earlier this year, also extended his deal to said date.

The only other players with a 2021 free-release hazard are Leonardo Ponzio and Javier Pinola, although in their cases both the club and the players themselves want to wait until at least the end of the year to renegotiate terms given their advanced age.

Gonzalo Montiel's agent claims West Ham are considering making a new offer for the 23-year-old national team right back. The Hammers already received a negative from D'Onofrio a few days ago when they offered 7 million.

Facundo Mura, the 21-year-old from Estudiantes who Gallardo already placed an eye on at the beginning of the year, is a possible replacement should Montiel leave. Alex Vigo (Colon) remains another option.

Defensa y Justicia just bought 50% of David Martinez's transfer for $900,000.

The 22-year-old centerback has been on loan at el halcon since July of last year, where he has accumulated 25 games between the Superliga, Copa Libertadores, and Copa Argentina.

DyJ fans on Twitter seem to be very happy with the deal

    Juan Fernando Quintero situation:

Franco Paredes (21-year-old CB) and Enzo Fernandez (19-year-old CMF) join Defensa y Justicia on loan in search of playing time to aid their development.

The pair follows in the footsteps of Tomas Martinez, David Martinez, Alexander Barboza, Guido Rodriguez, Marcelo Larrondo, Juan Cruz Kaprof, and Nahuel Gallardo, who all joined DyJ on loan from River during Gallardo's term.

Both deals will be effective for 18 months (December 2022).

Paredes's contract will include a buyout clause worth $1,000,000 for 50% of the transfer. Fernandez, on the other hand, will not have a buyout option considering how he is pretty well-viewed as a prospect by Gallardo.

On another note, Ivan Rossi has extended his link with River until June 2021 (his contract had expired 2 months ago) out of respect: River paid Banfield $3M for his transfer in 2016 and he didn't want to leave the club empty-handed. His future is still elsewhere, though. One option he is currently handling is the possibility of joining Huracan --where he played in 2018-- on loan.

Former Colombian footballer Faustino Asprilla claims Juan Fernando Quintero's move to China is a done deal

    - Faustino Asprilla to BLU Radio, August 20, 2020
To potentiate the claim, JFQ's agent has arrived in Buenos Aires today to meet with D'Onofrio and Francescoli...

It was to be expected, but remains a damn shame regardless. It's incredible to think that we bought Juan Fer nearly 3 years ago: it seems he just arrived yesterday since he barely got to play between the injury that left him out most of 2019 and the pandemic that halted football this year. Plus, in 2018 when he was available to play, he was mostly on the bench since he had to earn a spot and find his form.

Still grateful that such an amazing player donned our jersey and that he blessed us with some incredible moments, but you can't help but lament the unfortunate circumstances that limited his playing time these last 2 seasons.

Resting official confirmation from the club, but it appears Quintero's chapter has come to an end.

    Lucas Martinez Quarta's agent:

Marcelo Gallardo on the state of the transfer market (09/15 press conference):
    .

Regarding reinforcements/incoming transfers during this window:
    .
    On Lucas Martinez Quarta:

** MQ's contract expires June 2021, so if he continues at the club, he must renew his deal. His agent already clarified in recent days that although he could easily go that route, the player does not want to leave as a free agent at the end of the season out of respect for the club.
    On Juan Fernando Quintero:
    .

    On Jorge Moreira:
    .
He also confirmed the legitimacy of the offer for Jorge Carrascal, stating that a proposal did arrive from Russia but was turned down by the club.

In other news, Joaquin Arzura will be leaving on loan to Panetolikos (Greece), with a buyout clause of $600,000 for 60% of his transfer. As a result, his contract—originally due to expire at the end of this season—has been extended until June 2022. This will be the fifth loan the midfielder will be sent on since joining from Tigre in 2016 (Osasuna, Almeria, Nacional, Huracan).

Fiorentina have presented a €12M offer for Lucas Martinez Quarta, who has less than 9 months left on his contract with River.

The deal would be comprised of €6M up front, an additional €3M after 10 games, and another €3M if and when he plays 40 official matches for the Italians. It is worth noting that the Serie A transfer window closes on October 5th (Monday), meaning things would have to be sorted out quickly within the coming days for this deal to go through.

If the transfer is completed, MQ will be teammates with former River Libertadores champion German Pezzella. In exchange, River would be generating approximately €7.5M in net income after deductions (taxes, agent/player fees, and the 15% belonging to his childhood club, Kimberley).

Gallardo on a potential transfer of the defender, following yesterday's match vs. Sao Paulo:

Just in: looks like D'Onofrio took Gallardo's word seriously and has turned down the offer from Fiorentina for Lucas Martinez Quarta.

The Italians are expected to respond with a counteroffer, which would include an additional million euros on top of the previous proposal.

Final terms of Lucas Martinez Quarta's transfer to Fiorentina:

    - €6M initial fee (€3M now, €3M in January)
    - €6M in add-ons (after x games played)
    - Much like in many other transfers during the D'Onofrio era, the player will resign his corresponding commission percentage of the transfer (approx. €1-2M) to minimize financial differences between the two clubs.
After summing expected add-ons and deducing levies, River will finalize the operation receiving +/- €9M for the 24-year-old Argentine national team centerback.
