they didn't make it up their colors and name for that matter was copied from Spain. They don't have proprietary rights. in fact Chicago also uses the colors now.
The Angels have an affiliate in AA ball called the Trash Pandas. Their branding is amazing. https://www.milb.com/rocket-city

Gotta be honest, it would be a unique color scheme - especially that magenta shade of pink. Here's hoping. As far as a name, I'm hoping no "United," "FC," etc. Spirit at least makes sense and so would incorporating Gateway.
True, but I hope the basketball trademark makes it impossible. crusaders would have been perfect, but never going to happen in this PC world
I figured you were referring to a WNBA team or something, Are you referring to the 'old' ABA Spirits or this 'new' ABA http://www.basketballspiritstl.net/ (I didn't know this even existed) Who holds the trademarks your thinking of? I would think a semi-pro team would be a little easier to buy out if it came to that. EDIT: I would think that a current team in the same market would lead the MLS group to another name, but who knows...
So to be clear, it's red like this scarf on the "We Are Coming" ads and NOT pink, correct? People seem to think that the colors will be Pink and Yellow cause the color used in the ad looks Pink.
Yes. But I mean the color that they are using in the ad now, not the color that will be revealed. Like this. This is red right, not pink?
That is pink. We do not know what is going to be announced. It could be pink and yellow It could be the flag - red, yellow, blue It could by FC's colors - blue, green or it could be something entirely different. We don't know.
I had an early 80's Flamengo jersey that was black with that kind of red/pink and it was a fine thing.

hmm... that crest is too rounded and cartoony to be top-notch in my opinion, but that basically my only major criticism. I'm liking the particular blue/red-pink/yellow/white color combo. Similar to the STL flag but distinct enough too. I'm happy with "City" as the name. Could have been better, but for all the places in the country to have pro soccer teams, "City" make more sense for STL than for most places.
